Oda threw golden gnome award out of window for gift subs
Theo called him out for it and says oda is toxic
Ex jmod and randoms on twitter told him to simmer down
Theo called everyone on twitter toxic and started being toxic himself
Theo can't see his own hypocrisy and blocks everyone who points this out or disagrees with him
Theo continues to go on 10+ hour twitter rampage being a man child having a mental breakdown
Community turn on him calling him out for having content that is just read from the wiki
Theo says his content is not from the wiki but in fact the wiki is based off his content
OsRS wiki reply to his tweet calling him out and supply evidence to prove the wiki info was there before he published vids on the subject
Theo continues to be a man child calling everyone toxic and liars while playing the victim

oof. we love abit of drama. thanks dude
Think he was jealous he didnt have his own award? and saw red when he saw how little oda cared for it ?
i dunno.
436
u/moesif_ Apr 26 '22
To add, oda didn't just throw it out for subs. He threw it after finding out that jagex just bought a very cheap garden gnome from a big hardware store and sprayed painted it yellow

22
u/netsrak Apr 26 '22
It kind of sucks, but at the same time the big part of the award is winning it not what it is made of. I think the streamer awards are a good comparison, and they gave out 3d printed and gold painted Pepes. I didn't hear anyone complaining about that.

think about how much money jagex makes and then think about whether or not a $10 garden gnome is an appropriate prize to give to content creators that drive revenue to jagex
lots of middle ground between a hunk of solid gold and a lawn ornament

From vaguely similar personal experiences if I had to guess:
He was in a vulnerable mental state beforehand. Usually caused by extreme stress or other factors (in my case it was severe depression + stress).
Then he sees someone disrespecting something that was given to them as an award for being good at something. It's not a massive leap to say it's disrespectful towards Jagex and/or other award winners/nominees. He probably had a prior opinion of Odablock as someone who is "toxic" so he called it out.
Once people start telling him he's wrong and he should just "lighten up" his brain stops working correctly (it doesn't just stop, it just sends the wrong signals) sending him into a manic episode where HE IS RIGHT and everyone else is WRONG. Once your brain gets to this point nothing anyone says will get you to understand how stupid you are acting. IIRC my doctor explained that things like delusions of grandeur and a feeling of complete infallibility are pretty common in manic episodes and other mental breakdowns.
It's truly terrifying realizing how everything we do is dictated by something so fragile. At the same time it's incredibly interesting just how 100% certain you can feel about being in the right even though you are acting completely irrationally. During my episode after being confronted by my mother begging me to move in with her for a week because I was clearly not in a state of looking after myself I decided it was a great idea to go and ring all the doorbells on my floor and ask my neighbours to be witnesses to the harrassment because I was going to get a restraining order against her.
I have always had an extremely close relationship with my mom and had even moved in for a week or two on two different occasions before. Somehow my brain managed to 100% convince me that her coming to check on me (which I had ASKED her to do) was horrific harrasment and that I needed to cut off all contact with her and get a restraining order. I was also 100% convinced my neighbours would all immediately see how "horrible" she was being.

I like to think Iâve gotten a grip on most of those issues - many of mine stemmed from severe alcohol and drug abuse beginning at a young age - but bro that sounded exactly like some shit I would have done in my younger days, just to âmake a pointâ about how âobviously rightâ I was and how everyone else was âcrazy.â Glad we made it through and can see it more clearly now, man. I agree, Theo was acting like a complete cock, but I quickly realized he was having a mental episode and honestly just wished it would stop.
People who have never suffered from mental health issues will never relate or understand, theyâll only mock and egg it on. But I feel you man. I had compassion as well.

Man, he shouldn't need to apologise lol. He had what was basically a schizophrenic episode where he had a complete break from reality, then got harassed by 100,000 people until it got him sent to a mental hospital. He can't own up to his actions, he had literally no control over them. He probably doesn't even remember it and he's probably only just started acting normal again in the last couple of weeks after intense therapy and very heavy anti-pyschotic meds.
And now he's the one who has to apologise? For being sick then bullied by thousands of people? This community is fuckin twisted sometimes lmfao

Dude, mental health issues are no joke. Most of the time you donât even realize youâre having an episode until after itâs over. Almost like waking up after a night out and realizing you really shouldnât have said/done some things. Except the night out can last as little as seconds to as long as months or even years.
Had a similar episode in September, 2019, after being removed cold turkey from my Anti-Depressant and Anti-Anxiety pills (negative reactions). I broke up with my girl, lost some friends, whored around, fucked off in school and the entire month still remains a blur. Wasnât until I got different candy after the dry period that everything came back into place and I managed to reconcile with my girl.
Good on you for recognizing the issues and I hope youâre getting/got the help you need (:

Someone recognizing what they did/said was wrong, apologizing for it and taking responsibility for it? Immensely based.

5
u/Brahskididdler Apr 26 '22
Is this really that rare? Iâm on the other side of the spectrum, where I think Iâm in the wrong about every single thing I do and interaction I have, and always assume I could have done better. Like when I get pissed or sad, I do some mental gymnastics to come up with a reason why Iâm always overreacting or being egotistical or something.
So instead of putting the blinders on and not caring how I effect people, I care way too fucking much

It does mean that he recognizes the problem, understands why his actions are inappropriate, and wishes to improve himself and act better.
That shows some real maturity, and is a MASSIVE first step. As somebody who has dealt with his own, fairly severe, mental health issues: before I had things under control I ruined multiple jobs, relationships, all sorts of things. Recognizing that I was the problem, finding out what I needed to do to address the problem, and working towards that was a fundamental pivot point in my life.
