Hello all! I recently brought home my first aby (yay!) back in march 2026. She is currently 10months old tomorrow. Per the breeder recommendation we waited to have her spayed till 6month. Unfortunately she started going into heat very frequently starting at 4months. During this time she started to pee on clean/dirty clothes or just other random spots. We do our best to keep litter boxes clean. We have three large litter boxes that get cleaned 2-3x per day. In the home we have two male cats 4 & 6 as well, standard mixed breeds. Has anyone else experienced this with their kitten? Breeder never had issues with her using the box. She maybe does it once/twice a week now. She will do it right before I leave the house, or while i’m working on chores around the house. Could she be wanting more attention? We play with her quite a bit, have interactive toys, take her outside and many other activities. I am also bringing home a second kitten in about 6 weeks. Same breeder. Should I do anything differently with this kitten? Spay sooner or ANYTHING? I’m hoping having a playmate that can match her energy will be good for her. Any advice is much appreciated! Update: Thank you for so many helpful replies! I am making a vet appointment to get her checked out. Other things i’m changing; Taking the lids off the cat boxes, adding one more cat box (and another when the next kitty comes home), also planning on trying a different more neutral litter. Going to start rewarding her when I see her come out of the litter box with treats too. I’ll keep everyone updated :)

This is Eliot again. I took this video a couple of minutes ago and he’s STILL doing it. He’s aggressively love bombing me. He’ll stop milk treading to throw his whole body in my face.

We adopted four Abys in 2006. After twenty years of great fun, we just lost the last. I know it can take a while to find a new kitten, so I am wondering if anyone has recommendations for a reputable and caring Abyssinian cattery?

I thought I carefully "cat-proofed" the new home we recently moved into before I brought Jinxie there. Mistakes were made! I may have "cat-proofed" the home, but I did not "Abyssinian cat-proof" the home. I finally came up with a solution. I installed cat safety balcony netting along the full length of the loft railing, suspending it from the ceiling to the top of the railing. Jinxie also got a new cat tree that was placed near the loft's railing so he could look down and see what was going on in the living room. So far this has been effective. Since then, Jinxie decided to spend more time in the living room with us, observing us from the top of his tall cat tree in the living room, instead of spying on us from the loft.

Eliot has decided he’s got to bring every giant spider he finds and drop it in my lap. The first time he did it I could SEE the giant legs dangling out of the side of his mouth when he jumped up on the bed, so I was able to leap away before he could dump it on me (still very much alive).

He’s done it 3 more times since. The most recent one a couple of minutes ago was dropped on my foot and climbing around before I noticed it and kicked it across the room in horror.

He’s so proud of himself for catching them but JESUS, where is his neverending supply of giant spiders coming from?????
