FAQ Found a hate group on Reddit? Here’s what to do.
You found a subreddit that’s infested by a hate group - maybe even it’s being run by a hate group? Or any other Sitewide Rules violations?
Here’s what to do.
Step 1: DO NOT PARTICIPATE
Don’t join, post, comment, or vote in the group. Reddit’s recommendation algorithm is simple: If you participate in a group, that group is important to you, and you willingly associated with that group.
To get Reddit to kick hate groups off the site, it’s super important that you do not associate with hate groups.
They rely on your participation to spread hate!
Step 2: USE THE REPORT BUTTON
Report the hate speech. Every post and comment has a Report button attached to it - sometimes under a ‘…’ button.
If you’re using a browser, you can copy the URL of the post or comment and report it using this link
Step 3: FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST THE MODERATORS
A subreddit where people openly post racist slurs, use misogynist language, screech about asylum-seekers or immigrants, vomit antiSemitism or Islamophobia or abuse LGTBQ people?
There is no excuse for these things!
Reddit’s Moderator Code of Conduct tells subreddit moderators:
We also expect that moderators uphold Reddit’s Content Policy and abide by Reddit’s User Agreement (especially Section 8), as well as make a concerted effort to remove and report violating content in their communities.
… You should never create, approve, enable or encourage rule-breaking content or behavior.
… You have enough Mods to effectively and consistently manage your community.
When a subreddit has too few moderators to prevent hate speech from being posted to their community and the hate speech stays up - if the community doesn’t report hate speech (which happens because they approve of the hate speech) - if they don’t implement any of the standard Automoderator rules that are available (absolutely free of charge) in the Automoderator library, and don’t turn on the (absolutely free of charge) native Hate Speech Filters which Reddit offers -
These so-called “moderators” are enabling rule-breaking content and behavior.
Tell Reddit to take action on these hate subreddit operators! File a Moderator Code of Conduct Complaint!
Include links to posts or comments that contain hate speech! Point out any subreddit rules or the name of the subreddit if they contain hate speech! If their moderators are the ones who wrote the hate speech, point that out — with links to the places they wrote hate speech, inside that subreddit or outside that subreddit!
If someone is writing hate speech in one subreddit, they’re going to enable other people to write that hate speech in another subreddit they are supposed to moderate!
Step 4: ONWARD AND UPWARD
Join a different community for the subject that you want to talk about! Reddit doesn’t have Official Communities for anything, and anyone can create and moderate a subreddit - so it’s always possible to find or make a group for your interests!

Xenophobia r-GuessMy_ promotes ethno-nationalism, biolgoical essentialism, and systemic hate speech
Issue: This community gamifies ethnicity and national origin, creating a pipeline for ethno-nationalist rhetoric, biological essentialism, and scientific racism (such as phrenology and bloodline purity tracking). Users who point out the sociological flaws or harmful nature of these pseudoscientific classifications are systematically banned by moderation.

While disguised as a harmless guessing game, the subreddit actively promotes the idea of monolithic ethnic "looks," reinforcing outdated colonial classifications and marginalizing users based on protected characteristics.

Islamophobia /r/Conservative platforms Islamophobia
Top comment
Muslim ideology is not compatible with Western values.
Directly responding
A practicing muslim can't be an American culturally & mentally.
Further down
Islam tried to take over Europe by force for centuries and failed. Now it is taking over through chaos, immigration, and the exploitation of Europe’s freedoms and laws.
Democracy and free society are the antithesis of Muslim doctrine and what their fake god demands.
and further down
Can anyone point out an example where Muslims have been able to get along with each other, or any other group in history?
Each of these are hate speech.

🦀 Hate Sub Banned 🦀 r/MillionDollarExtreme and r/rapeson ban evasion subreddit r/BombStrap banned for Community Interference
Prior coverage of r/BombStrap
Reddit overlooked this subreddit in the ban wave in Summer 2020.
Now it's gone.
The user demographic of r/BombStrap in 2020 heavily overlapped the user demographic of r/SubForWhitePeopleOnly, r/AverageRedditor, r/MillionDollarExtreme, /r/ParadigmShift2070, r/BongHitTransplant, r/DebateAltRight, r/The3rdPosition, r/ThuleanPerspective, r/AFWithNJF, r/ClownWorldWar, r/PissEarthBegins, and a smattering of tiny subreddits dedicated to white supremacist terrorist organising that were all banned years ago.
The user demographic of r/BombStrap in 2026 heavily overlapped the ban evasion subreddits for r/rapeson.

Meta The Reddit Sitewide Rule Against Promotion of Hatred was recently updated.
Here is the live page for the Sitewide Rule Against Promotion of Hatred:
https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045715951-Hate
Here is the page as it was before the update 7 days ago (as updated this June):
The policy language all appears to be exactly identical; A reporting method specified for people who do not have a Reddit account was removed from the "How can I report potential violations of this policy?" section, which has the effect of restricting reports on potential hate activity to those who have an account and are logged in.
Neither version of the policy directs reporters to https://reddit.com/report

Racism Askgaybros host racist and ethnic coded prejudice through missing context on purpose.

ignorance is a possibility. However groups have deliberately conflated prior party's positions with the later party's positions while leaving out context in order to plausibly provide support without appearing to be support prejudice

Transphobia r/terf_trans_truce claims to be a neutral debate sub while promoting hate
this subreddit positions itself as a neutral discussion space for pro-trans and anti-trans positions, but the majority of posts is just the anti-trans side concern trolling or "just asking questions" for the others side, while the majority of comments will side with the transphobic OP and actual responses from trans people will get downvoted or removed.
The subreddit promotes hateful anti-trans rhetoric, frequently misgenders trans people and spreads harmful misinformation.
one of the top posts, spreading hateful rhetoric, with majority comments agreeing and few people with differing opinions eighter downvoted or deleted
other examples
users expressing support for the recently banned hate sub r/ realradfem
also, despite claiming to be neutral, all the current mods identify with the anti trans position
Edit: I have been banned from the sub for posting this.

Other R-TankieTheDeprogram is a Communist subreddit that promotes genocide and atrocity denial, terrorist groups and is potentially also a ban evasion sub
Whitewashing Joseph Stalin
https://ghostarchive.org/archive/2Rv6H
Support for terrorist groups
https://ghostarchive.org/archive/E1Y6Y
More atrocity denial
https://ghostarchive.org/archive/z5Xrc
Denial/whitewashing of the genocide and forced displacement of the Crimean Tatars
https://ghostarchive.org/archive/wAOeR
Now for the ban evasion part. When TheDeprogram was banned its users and at least some of the moderators migrated to TankieTheDeprogram. TankieTheDeprogram was created about 2 years before the ban, so I am not 100% sure that it can definitively be considered ban evasion.

Racism R/Eastasianpride is an East Asian supremacist subreddit which is racist against South Asians, mixed people and interracial couples
Someone from Tripura, Northeast India raging and encouraging racism against South asians just because they are discriminated in India. This is ridiculous because I'm South Asian but I grew up in a Southeast asian country and it would be racist if I did the same.
https://ghostarchive.org/archive/eM2Zy
doxxing a certain south asian x east asian couple
https://ghostarchive.org/archive/o4L48
why they believe they should not support mixed East asians as an East Asian. Calls mixed people mules and that they aren't worthy of being known as one of their ethnicities
https://ghostarchive.org/archive/bRyXB
warning to people to steer away from South asians in Canada
https://ghostarchive.org/archive/Jqf8b
talking about South asians "replacing" east asians in Singapore and Hongkong and them "stealing" "their women".
https://ghostarchive.org/archive/yfyrB
seeing a south asian x east asian couple and saying "Indians want to invade asia"
https://ghostarchive.org/archive/9jmGZ
saying they're happy to live in Asia because they don't have to worry about being racist against black people
https://ghostarchive.org/archive/7UY3J
Saying that sexual harassment and assault don't exist in East Asia and that's why non-East Asians should stay out of East Asia. They also said that you never hear about non-East Asians being harassed in East Asia but speaking as someone who's South Asian, I've had friends who are racially harassed in a Southeast Asian country I've lived in. One of them also said that the Singaporean prison system and the greatness of Chinese culture makes Indians commit less crimes in Singapore and that Indians rape a lot in East Asia.
https://ghostarchive.org/archive/ci99C
Saying that East Asian men being gay is negative representation.

🦀 Hate Sub Banned 🦀 /r/RealRadfem banned for (transphobic) Hate Speech
I'm going to waive one of the rules of this subreddit for this post only and for me only (i.e. the rule still stands; the material I'm showing in these screenshots is verified accurate, i.e. they are known to be accurate screenshots, not altered)
r/RealRadfem had a history of Enabling and Encouraging transphobia, misgendering of transgender women, promotion of government and institutional hatred of transgender people, and replication of rhetoric that was typically found in r/GenderCritical and its ecosystem.
Some screenshots of a recent post and a few comments, showing promotion of hatred of transgender women, with misgendering.
Content Warning for content in screenshots: hate speech

These examples are included to be illustrative of the thesis of this post. Screenshots are not accepted as proof by us nor by admins.
Rhetoric in the subreddit included dehumanisation ("it's a fetish"); calls to violence (celebration / encouragement of transgender suicides); logical contradictions to justify hatred / DARVO ("Hot Take: Transgenderism is Transphobic"); and much, much more.
There was also - independent of the (rampant) transphobia - rhetoric that could arguably be considered in context to be actual misandry.
So that's like the second time I've seen arguably-actual misandry on Reddit.
/r/RealRadfem got themselves banned by enabling and encouraging transphobia and violent threats.
PostScript / Reminder: We still don't accept screenshots as documentation of hate speech. Submit URLs to the admins through the Reddit Moderator Code of Conduct complaint form.

Racism r/TarihiSeyler is a subreddit where Turks brigading other subreddits who opose Turkish values like the Armenian genocide and hate against minorities is encouraged
Update: I made a post i deleted about the removal of 2 mods from r/TarihiSeyler, turns out this happened before my post. So action has yet to take place
The brigading posts often stay up on purpose for a long time and then mabe taken down or not. There's been many brigade posts for r/HistoryMemes when the Armenian genocide is mentioned.
Brigade post 1
Post on r/HistoryMemes about genocides commited against Turks
Brigade post on the former post
Brigade post 2
Brigade post 3
Brigade comment on the same post
Brigade post 4
Brigading on r/HistoricalCapsule over crimes commited against Greeks and Armenians
Post making fun of Armenian, Greek and Assyrian genocide as well as massacres against Kurds
Bonus
Turks complain because r/HistoryMemes made a meme about genocide denial of Turks
In the same comment section they are calling people gavur which means infidel/kaffir/non muslim

🦀 Hate Sub Banned 🦀 R-turbonazi. Just look at the name.
If it's not obvious already, this subreddit is full of "Ironic" nazis/other extremists.
