The recent update to the Medium-Range-Missiles got me itching to make a platform that does nothing else but to deliver huge clusters of MRM at breakneck speeds.
Plus in recent campaigns our group manage to use a salvaged Warrior Helicopter to great effect...
So I came up with this: the Hippo Attack Helicopter
(The original design features 2.5 tons of Ferro Fibrous armor, but I thought, that was too conventional... so I swapped it for 1.0 ton of Stealth Armor)
Hippo Attack Helicopter

This should be the link to the force on mekbay. I'm new to all of this so please tell me if it worked. I'd love some honest critique about how I have everything set up.
Here's the basic breakdown.
Spears of Ragnarok: The main force. The center of the operation. Their job is to hit the battlefield, march forward together and lay down fire on anything in their path.
The Einherjar: The main battle line, meant to stick close to the Spears and take advantage of any openings, while also beating a path and possibly capping objectives if I ever play a game that utilizes those.
The Hounds of Hardrada: These guys are the flankers, their job is to spread out and harass the enemy by getting behind them and pestering them constantly throughout the entire fight.
Farsight Firebirds: They are long range snipers, meant to find the weakest targets from range and pick them off clean from the battlefield.
I AM NEW TO THE LORE SO FOR PETE SAKE PLEASE BE CIVIL.
I know ENOUGH of the lore to have set a good foundation for my lore, and I want to make sure that it's worked into proper battletech lore so it fits. If it's desired I will type up their lore but only if it's requested and people actually wanna see it.

For anyone asking, this is a 3d print which I painted with the motive of the sinking sun. I hope the guy who gets it will love it.

I have decided, mostly for narrative reasons, to paint several stars of Clan Wolf and Clan Jade Falcon. However, this means for the first time I'm painting a symbol that is not just the starleague star and holy heckers this is hard.
So I'm curious as to what people do use to get clan symbols on their mechs. If you can, I would greatly appreciate seeing some examples in the comments (or some resources for how to paint them

Can someone please DM me? I am trying to locate the old NOVA Combat Book Terrain Expansion Sets (2 different sets, each with 64 cards), at least the text. I was able to find the photos attached, but nothing else...
I am also trying to find the 32p 4th Edition Introduction to BattleTech insert from the boxed set.
Any assistance is appreciated.

Ive played a decent ammount of both hinterlands and draconis reach campaigns and while i love them to death one thing i cant really wrap my head arround is how do you defend in strike? Ive played about 8 of these and its over in about 3 or 4 turns each time without fail. 1 or 2 Incredibly fast mech shows up turn 2 to flank, both scan buildings and once one finds the right one thats it. Its destroyed before the next shooting phase. And yeah i know i should bring more counters to those fast critters but its still a crap shoot if i can even get a shot on them to begin with.

Accidented my way into building a Smoke Jaguar force and am looking for quintessential second line units for them. So far I've IDed the Stone Rhino, Horned Owl 2 and (probably) the Locust IIC as must haves, but that leaves me short of a star.

I dont know if its been put out at all or anywhere yet, what do yall think the bv cost, tonnage and crit slots are or think will look like? Or if anything what do you think is the closest to those values we already have to represent it atm. I was thinking it would be similar to like an AC20.
Trying to do some custom mechs for Solaris.

I got a hold of an Atlas yesterday, it was my first assault mech since I just have the starter box, I painted it took it to go a game and a rakshasa took out the cockpit turn 2. What a great first showing. Its supposed to be painted in the Eridani Light horse colors I just dont have transfers yet.

What sort of war crime should my Merc company enact on this Cappy lawn dart that we took as a POW?
Piloting re-education to teach them how to run a nuke strapped trash can straight in the direction of the nearest Cappellan world?
Handed off to a periphery broker who staffs Canopian pleasure cruises in order to cover my insurance deductible on this now melted Archer?

Back around 1991–92, when I was a teenager, my gaming group discovered BattleTech. There were six of us, armed with a few FASA rulebooks, a BattleTech pawn box, and entirely too much free time. We played a campaign for roughly 18 months, often twice a week. To this day, it remains one of my fondest tabletop gaming memories.
Fast-forward about 35 years. My current gaming group has been together for around eight years. There are five of us, most of us take turns GMing, and we've played a lot of D&D, Pathfinder, and Savage Worlds. Good times, but I was getting tired of fantasy settings. I wanted something different.
Our group has a simple philosophy: We play whatever the GM is excited to run. An enthusiastic GM generally means a better game. So I announced that I wanted to run BattleTech.
None of the other four had ever played it. One had at least heard of it. Another didn't even know what BattleTech was. But they trusted me, so off we went.
I decided to use the same rules I remembered from my teenage years: classic BattleTech and MechWarrior 2nd Edition. Why not? Well, things got complicated pretty quickly.
Our campaign is essentially three games rolled into one:
Unfortunately, Roll20 didn't support what I wanted to do, and the alternatives I investigated weren't much better for combining all three. So I ended up writing my own custom BattleTech/MechWarrior character sheet for Roll20. It's still evolving.
I also borrowed some ideas from the HBS BattleTech video game and expanded them into my own mercenary management systems. I particularly liked how HBS handled salvage, so I developed a system where contracts establish a C-bill payment, a number of choice salvage picks, and a percentage of what's left. It's been working pretty well so far, and the players seem to enjoy it.
Needless to say, what started as a nostalgic return to an old favorite has turned into a rather substantial GM project.
Our campaign follows Iron Tale, a small mercenary company operating in the Inner Sphere, beginning in January 3048, just before the Clan Invasion.
Because none of my players know much of anything about the Inner Sphere, I thought this would be a fantastic starting point. They have absolutely no idea what's coming. Getting to experience something as significant as the Clan Invasion through the eyes of characters who are just as clueless as their players should be a hell of a lot of fun.
I thought it might be interesting to document the experience here. Not just campaign recaps, but the challenges of returning to a 35-year-old game, introducing four experienced roleplayers to an unfamiliar universe, figuring out what works, and occasionally making things up because I can't find a rule that does what I need.
I'll share our adventures, the systems I've cobbled together, what works, what doesn't, and whatever lessons I pick up along the way. I'm certainly not claiming to have all the answers. I'm just an old GM dusting off some old games and having a hell of a time doing it.
We've been playing for several sessions over the past few months, and I've developed an overarching storyline that's already taken on a life of its own. Along the way, the players have unknowingly helped me create a major villain, made more than a few rivals, and generally given me plenty of material to work with.
Currently, Iron Tale is working alongside Wolf's Dragoons, investigating a conspiracy that threatens the HPG network.
And that's where things stand. More to come!

I felt previous iterations I’d done of this scheme were a bit bland and the blueness of the gray-blue didn’t show up well in many lighting contortions, so painted in some Donegl Guards emblems and used an all over dry brush pass for the first time. Had variable results from mini to mini, but definitely helped overall and I’m pretty happy with how the Highlander turned out. Also modified the Archer from a 5R to a 5W.

So, I've linked up with a group of people who play Alpha Strike and played my first game of AS last night after years and years of only playing Classic, and I have a couple of questions about the rules.
- How is movement reduction for gaining elevation handled when the slope is very shallow? There was some terrain on the table that had very gently sloping hills that maybe elevated two inches over an 18 inch move. My opponent said they just usually play it as if it was flat and only reduce movement if it is a very steep slope. How are you supposed to handle it in the rules where you have elevation changes that are shallow over long distances?
- If one mech has partial cover, is that automatic in the other direction?/Where is LOS measured from on the mech? There was a situation where I was in base contact with a piece of terrain that provided me with partial cover, but an opponent mech was in an open field. It was explained to me that both mechs had partial cover, even though the opposing mech was not really obscured from my cockpit or LOS at all.
Is there a specific point LOS is measured from on a mech? I've played other games where LOS is measured from the "head" of a mini and if no line from the head to the opponent was obscured, then no partial cover.
Thanks all!

I've finally tackled one of the most iconic mechs that I've loved since my days with MechAssault, and holy crap did it have a lot of edges to highlight. In place of a standard torso with smaller cockpit, the volume of work was effectively shifted to the head and missile pods, but that left it with an absolute ton of crevices to handle. I kept finding little spots post-wash where I'd missed the basecoat and needed to do some touch up. All in all though, I'm very happy with the final product, both for the miniature and the base.
At some point I'll paint up another in the MechAssault colors, but that day is a ways off right now. Next project is looking like it'll be the (IS) Gladiator.

Hi everyone!
I'm trying to find the full text of "Vanish" by Michael A. Stackpole, a short story published exclusively in the 2010 A Time of War Limited Edition.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find it anywhere online, and buying the original limited edition isn't really an option for me.
I'm a big BattleTech fan, and I'd love to read this rare piece of BattleTech fiction, especially since it involves Morgan Kell and Katrina Steiner.
Does anyone know if the story was ever made available digitally, reprinted in another publication, or archived somewhere?
I'd really appreciate any help or pointers in the right direction!
Thanks in advance!
