Which now that I spell it out and look at it; isn't much better.. however, Niel DeGrass Tyson says we've all been pronouncing it wrong, but maybe we just don't wanna be right (this one time)?

But UR-in-us and ur-AY-nus are correct and accepted pronunciations. Both are listed in the dictionary. And, as you say, it sounds a bit wrong either way.

Use a short a sound as in man.
That solves both pronunciation problems.

They had the audacity to grab it there but never pronounced is as the way the locals do. Like Mjolnir is pronounced like Mah-jhol-near. Yes it sounds preposterous.
