Discussion Racing in the Street with spoken intro/outro

If you've never heard Racing in the Street from the Born in the USA tour that had the spoken intro & spoken outro ( early 84 tour didn't have it, debuted in Los Angeles October 84 ) then it's time to listen now. For me a,beautiful rendition of a beautiful song, never performed this way on any other tour.

I recall Springsteen saying that they wish they had a multi track recording of it but it doesn't exist in that format. Not sure why they can't redo tracks like this when all shows now are multi tracked?

I have been sitting on this documentary for about 2 years now. It was originally uploaded for my channel members only, but recently i sat down to edit it into a more accessible and dramatic story. It's a simple docu, but I wanted to release it for you guys. I don't make any profits from it, so I hope you will enjoy it. Thanks to all of the support you gave for all of my projects btw. I hope you'd like to see more in the future.

Discussion The Cinematic Western Aesthetic of Western Stars

Thumbnail

Possibly Bruce’s best color palette for an album, Western Stars features hues of dark blues and browns, reflecting the western landscape, open sky and traditional cowboy clothing. The album does a fantastic job at capturing traditional Hollywood westerns depictions, as well as modern western living in the music and art work.

Through discussions on previous Bruce album art post, Western Stars has been frequently mentioned as being one of Bruce’s best album covers, and mentioned as being his best album in the 2010s. What are your thoughts about the album and the art direction?

Brewers Manager talks about Bruce before NLCS

They listen to Glory Days after every win and he was asked why. Sorry to link to Meta wouldn’t let me post a video and couldn’t find another link. Worth a watch.

Brewers Manager Pat Murphy on Bruce Springsteen

https://bsky.app/profile/dicknixon.bsky.social/post/3mxojip4m422m

I think a lot of us will be able to relate to Brewers Manager Pat Murphy's comments on Bruce Springsteen. Apparently the team also plays "Glory Days" in the locker room after each win, where they through that speedball right by ya and made ya look like a fool, boy. I also had no idea Hall of Famer Paul Molitor was a huge fan.

(Edit: Glory Days is played in the stadium after wins, not the locker room.)

Question Concert in Munich Riem in 1993

Hi there!

Last year, my father took me to see Bruce Springsteen in concert, and I've been a fan of his ever since.

My father always tells me about the first time he ever saw The Boss in concert, which was in Munich-Riem in 1993. He told me that he searched the entire internet for videos of the concert but couldn't find any. Last week, he told me that he had used AI to ask whether any underground recordings of the concert existed. Apparently, there are some, but they're only known among hardcore fans.

So, with Christmas coming up, my question is: do these recordings actually exist, and if so, does anyone know how I could get my hands on one?

P.S. He also often tells me that, at these concerts, there were people taking pictures of The Boss without permission and then selling these posters at the nearest train stations.

Does anyone know anything about these posters?

Discussion How was Tunnel of Love received when it released?

I know it’s been well received critically, but I’m more curious how fans and casual listeners felt about it. If you were in high school or college at the time, for example, how did people like it? I imagine the reception had to have been at least a little divisive coming off the more rock/pop rock-oriented Born in the USA

What do you consider Bruce's signature cover(s)?

One of the things I've enjoyed about Bruce is how he pays tribute to his influences, peers, and the artists he admires. Covers have been a huge part of his repertoire from his early days with bar bands and pleasing different audiences. There's even a dedicated website called "Covered By Bruce Springsteen".

I use "signature" in at least two ways. It doesn't have to fit both criteria at the same time:

  • The song is so associated with Bruce that people don't know or often forget that someone else wrote it. The obvious example is Tom Waits' "Jersey Girl" which is probably the biggest example if I had to narrow it down to one answer. Because Bruce is so associated with New Jersey, many people associate the song with Bruce instead. I forgot where I read it, but someone said that Tom Waits should have written "Wild Billy's Circus Story" and Bruce should have written "Jersey Girl".
  • This cover is particularly significant within Bruce's catalogue: emotionally significant, influencing the direction of his music, something he covers frequently, or something he just plain loves playing. So "Twist And Shout", I think most people know that it's not a Bruce song. But it holds significance for him as he stated it was one of the first records he ever learned. He mentioned the song the day after John Lennon's assassination as an example of his and the Beatles' major influence on him. Credits to Phil Medley and Bert Berns for writing the song, The Top Notes for recording the song, and The Isley Brothers for making it a hit first.

I'm distinguishing this topic from "Bruce's best covers" which is slightly more subjective and broad. Because even in the off-chance you consider Bruce's best cover to be something like "Rebel Rebel", I don't think you'd consider it among his signature covers since he played it only once.

So what do you all think? What do you consider to be Bruce's signature covers, whether it's the first criteria or the second one?

Discussion Best non Bruce songs featuring Bruce

Hi all! As the title says, I'm looking for songs featuring Bruce, better if it's something officially released, but if you have in your mind some songs he randomly played live joining someone else it's okay. For the moment, I got Chinatown from Bleachers, Dustland with The Killers, Sandpapers with Zach Bryan, Wasted Days with Mellencamp, Odd of the blues with Joe Ely.

I’m sure at least one person whined about this lyric today. Lots of MAGA people upset with Bruce today we will lose some anti-colonialists. Pretty soon it will just be a few of us.
