Truly impressive how much LSU was not prepared to defend Reed.

Well - when Nuss is giving them great field possession every time - it probably starts to add up. Save for that big ass bomb he threw - wasnt basically every starting spot on our side - and close-ish to our endzone?

Yeah our punter is absolutely an MVP. I think his average is something like 60 yards.

A&M tradition tbh

Could not be us. Our punter literally had a 20 yard non contested punt today.

Yeah. It was too much too fast. We were dead before we heard the shot.

Yeah but it’s not like the red zone is notoriously difficult to defend. LSU players were getting juked, run over, and pushed aside every play

BK told Nuss if we punt we lose the game. He was too doped up on painkillers to understand he meant we needed TDs on every drive.

I can attest to the fact that giving a mobile QB a short field does not end up working out, not even once

When Reed got put in, yeah pretty much. Our defense made him look like an NFL caliber QB. And Nuss can’t stop handing the ball on a silver platter to the defense :(

The frustrating thing is we didn't unless the quarterback you mean is Ronnie Brown. Elko just ran the wildcat with Reed over and over again, and it just kept working.

Special teams, special plays, special players... brother!

I don't think you get to complain about that when we scored using a simple version of the inverted read on like three of those scores.

Sure they were simple - but man, it was like massive trama lol. We got punched - and just couldnt recover :D

Yes, but on the drive to the FG the announcers had a stat that with Reed the Aggies were averaging 11 yards per play.

“Except for the one major 75 yard drive in 90 seconds, all Reed’s other drives were short and also electric”

Username does check out though

I was just saying - LSU wasnt prepared for him obviously - and having such short fieldage to strategize on him probably didnt help the defense adjust at all :D

Not just nuss! Your field goal unit is a force to be reckoned with!

Kinda felt like how Mizzou wasn't ready to defend Weigman. I forget where I read it but I saw that Eli had been prepping for Reed all week

They didn’t know Marcel Reed was a thing until he showed up on the field

It's very obvious they had no idea of his existence.

Think it was the touchdown we took our first lead on, but they showed y'all's DC on the sideline, and he looked absolutely shellshocked

Against Weigman we allowed 7. Against Reed we allowed 31. Insane. It helps starting 2 drives on our side of the field, but dude was unstoppable from his first play.

u/venuemap Georgia • Minnesota Oct 27 '24

In their defense they’d probably not prepped for mesh or zone read

u/AlvvaysLurking LSU Tigers • Penn State Nittany Lions Oct 27 '24

I stand corrected, post game interview Greg Penn III flat out said they weren’t prepared for Reed and they didn’t expect him to come in. Said they weren’t sure who was the read man yada yada ya.

I’m not gonna pretend I know strategy well enough to make a comment about play calling and scheme on this level, but we just finished a 3 game series against Sellers, Dart, and Green so I imagine they’re well rehearsed for the zone read at this point. I played O & D line so I have no clue about prepping for certain passing schemes so that may have been a factor.
