What a wild game to watch.

Texas A&M kept shooting themselves in the dick but Notre Dame would be like "Wait, give us the gun first."

Chris Ash and Mike Denbrock need to start wearing bags over their heads too. It could possibly help their playcalling

Fuck Chris Ash all my homies hate Chris Ash

I’m just here to say fuck Chris Ash

He’s completely sabotaged that defense

Coming into this season I believed wholeheartedly:

  1. We had one of the best defenses in the nation.

  2. We had an underrated defensive line (probably top 20 caliber).

  3. We had without a doubt the best secondary in the nation.

FUCK!!!!!

Watching this man be ass at ND is supremely vindicating. Sorry guys, we tried to warn you the man is a football terrorist.

All the people at my A&M watch party were sick and tired of me saying, "Relax. It's Chris Ash."

There's no such thing as a relaxed Texas A&M fan

More like Chris Ass

I'm starting to hate Chris Ash

3

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '25

For real, he's on a warm seat right now.

We're starting to hate him too.

It reminds me of the BVG days with how continuously we looked confused and late getting set. The secondary is floating by on athleticism alone, they're lost out there.

u/Bloody_Hangnail Notre Dame Fighting Irish Sep 14 '25

I gave him a mulligan last game. This was an embarrassment. The next four games had better be complete dominance or I want him gone.

The use of the Wildcat was.... interesting, but I really don't think you can blame the offense too much

Denbrock really liked the Riley Leonard QB power and is determined to find a way to keep it in the playbook without him. Tried it with Carr at Miami and then Love and Price this week.

u/discipleofbill Notre Dame • Laurier Sep 14 '25

It would work if they took out Carr and put in someone who could block instead of playing what is essentially 10 vs 11.

1

u/Actual-Bandicoot6531 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Sep 20 '25

If he feels compelled to do that, why not use Minchey instead of Love at the wildcat?

5

u/ozymandais13 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Sep 14 '25

Workd like 2 of 11 times

11

u/OnionFutureWolfGang Notre Dame Fighting Irish Sep 14 '25

If your offense scores 33 points you escape blame for any weird playcalling no matter how many times you tried to randomly run the wildcat.

6

u/Makaroo Texas A&M Aggies Sep 14 '25

Is this revisionist?? The wildcat at least got yall one if not two critical first downs. We could not defend it

1

u/discipleofbill Notre Dame • Laurier Sep 14 '25

We also got stuffed on 4th and 1 trying before it ever had any semblance of success. Probably 2 or 3 TFLs out of that look. You could hear the crowd audibly groan when we shifted to the formation. It really only worked on the last drive.

Ash should be shown the door immediately. Promote mickens.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '25

Why did freeman call at timeout??? He should have let the Aggies run the play.

6

u/Frosty_McRib Notre Dame Fighting Irish Sep 14 '25

Honestly I thought that too. We had the momentum.

7

u/stoic_amoeba Notre Dame • Tennessee Tech Sep 14 '25

Denbrock wasn't perfect. Not sure why he falls in love with a particular play week-to-week (bubble screen game 1, wildcat/direct RB snap game 2).

But Chris Ash was just...yikes...shades of BvG 2016. First time ND gave up 40+ in regulation since 2017!!! Inexcusable.

5

u/Bloody_Hangnail Notre Dame Fighting Irish Sep 14 '25

The first few passes Reed threw, I honestly felt sorry for him. It looked like ND was going to dominate. Then we made him look like Patrick Mahomes.

u/aurrutia214 Nebraska Cornhuskers Sep 14 '25

When I heard his name on the broadcast I thought “wait, THE Chris Ash? He’s employeed still? Must be a different one…”

HOLY FUCK. CHRIS ASH IS NOTRE DAMES DC.

AS AN ILLINUTGERS FAN THIS IS ABSOLUTE BLASPHEMY.

u/DanFlashesCoupon Texas A&M Aggies Sep 14 '25

I know they came up clutch with it on their last drive but the amount of wasted wild cat plays would have killed me if I was an Irish fan

5

u/thunderg0at7 Texas A&M Aggies Sep 14 '25

This is what got me. Like, every 3rd or 4th and short, just play down a blocker?

3

u/gonk_gonk Alabama • Georgia Tech Sep 14 '25

A QB handing the ball off blocks the same number of people as a QB flanked out to the side. It does let them know the play call, though. Which ain't nothing.

1

u/thunderg0at7 Texas A&M Aggies Sep 14 '25

If everyone knows what you're going to do, why not put a fullback or DT in as a hole blocker? You are running a power play, with none of the benefits.

39

u/PenguinReaper Texas A&M Aggies Sep 14 '25

It was close. We almost Aggied all over the end of that drive.

I'm only used to seeing so many penalties when watching the Texans.

Wow fantastic take! lol
