This was Greg Sankey’s 9/11

This was my personal 12/25 after sitting behind the world’s absolute worst Alabama fan in the last game. Worst fan from any team I have ever interacted with. I am sure he was just a bad apple.

I hope he made the trip to Pasadena and that his Spirit airlines flight is extremely delayed.

Spill the beans on his behavior

Horribly obnoxious and in our (OU fans’) faces. Any time they did anything good—like I’m talking every single first down—he’d literally, and I mean literally, scream in an OU fan’s face “YEAH BABY YOU’RE PLAYING WITH THE BIG BOYS NOW THIS IS REAL FOOTBALL” or something stupid like that. Had a necklace with a giant Alabama pendant on it that he’d wave around. I thought I was going to witness him getting punched in the face several times by several different people. And he was just mean about it, trying to get personal, egging people on like “oh yeah, whatchu gonna do about it big boy? You’re in the SEC now you better get used to this, come on if you’re gonna do it” etc.

And to be clear, there were two other Alabama fans (they weren’t together, they were on their own) near us. Perfectly lovely people who celebrated when their team did well. They cheered and jumped around and everything fans do, as did I when OU did well (which stopped happening after the first quarter). I wish those Bama fans nothing but the best, they were terrific—and fans are more than welcome to cheer on their team, of course. But this guy was so many levels past what could be considered reasonable or appropriate. It’s hard to really explain how disgusting he acted.

And you’re sure he wasn’t an Oregon fan cosplaying as a ‘Bama fan?

As someone who lives in Alabama I can confirm this almost certainly was a completely run-of-the-mill, stock standard Bama fan. Nothing abnormal about it.

I'm probably gonna sound dumb, but what does "12/25" mean/refer to? I see this a lot in other football sub reddits.

SEC has been hit by a dozen planes this season. Bowl game embarrassments. Coaching embarrassments. Politicians getting involved embarrassments. A Heisman finalist embarrassment.

Just gross overall.

It’s easy to believe your own hype and forget how you got it in the first place

Especially when it retired from coaching three years ago to be a commentator

Ole Miss has 3 points currently

He's about to demand NIL be eliminated so they can go back to the under the table dealing everyone was doing, but the SEC was just better at.

Clearly it wasn't everyone doing it.

I think the SEC should have gotten 8 teams in

This is the way.

I've been railing against them having 5 teams for weeks, but I think your idea would be better if the revenue splits weren't done differently. Like cap a conference's share in a round or something.

I personally can’t wait to tune into Paul Finebaum tomorrow!

5

u/mostdope28 Michigan Wolverines • Paul Bunyan Trophy Jan 02 '26

He’s currently working on a “Alabama autobid” rule

3

u/McGillicuddys Penn State Nittany Lions Jan 02 '26

He showed he's still the big dog though by getting 5 teams in

2

u/SamuraiJack815 Jan 02 '26

And Finebaum's.

I called it before a single playoff game was played that there would only be one SEC team in the Semis, and here we are.

1

u/Chub_Law Jan 02 '26

if Ole Miss wins, it will be

u/BallsOnFace69 Alabama Crimson Tide Jan 02 '26

Why?

He loves Alabama. Hates the B1G. Hates underdog programs. All the things he hates destroyed the thing he loves.
