you could feel the Haas degree every time he speaks

All time bag fumble by Notre Dame not recruiting the MBA candidate transfer QB named Mendoza

53

u/SomeSLCGuy Jan 02 '26

Little tears of pride welling up in the halls of the Haas school.

He's not nearly unhinged enough to be a LinkedIn influencer. Sometimes I wonder if LinkedIn is the new 4chan. The shit I've seen on there...

Yes it is, at this point I only use it to update my work history or profile, otherwise I am never in that site even though I'm going for a supply chain degree and networking is a big part of it

(For the record, I just hate how artificial LinkedIn feels, plus their website is really bloated)

Dude is going to absolutely CRUSH the Toastmasters circuit.

I mean he went to Columbus. Then got into Yale and graduated from Berkeley.

This is the least shocking part of him

18

u/choclobstah Indiana Hoosiers Jan 02 '26

I know nothing of Miami schools. Is Columbus a prestigious academic HS?

27

u/elbenji Grinnell Pioneers • Miami Hurricanes Jan 02 '26

Very. It's for the super rich Cuban kids or the ones they recruit for either sports or academics

12

u/[deleted] Jan 02 '26

Wait he graduated from Berkeley….but is a junior at Indiana? How does that work? (I don’t follow CFB regularly, so apologies if this is a dumb question)

25

u/elbenji Grinnell Pioneers • Miami Hurricanes Jan 02 '26

Eligibility isn't linear and redshirting means you can be technically lots of things but have a degree.

So a redshirt junior could be already a senior

You can also graduate early.

He already has his degree from Cal

9

u/WorkerMotor9174 California Golden Bears Jan 02 '26

He was a redshirt freshman in 2023, then redshirt sophomore in 2024 and redshirt junior this year. He finished his Cal degree in 3 years. Business is a pretty short major here.

I think they also enroll early in winter semester and are there for the summer so it is definitely possible

I say this with all the love in my heart for the kid, but he's got to be on some end of some spectrum and I'm wondering how different his life would be if he found trains instead of football when he was younger.

182

u/ProposalSilent4582 Jan 02 '26

Who says he doesn't play with trains after every game?

124

u/[deleted] Jan 02 '26

He started talking about playing in the historic Rose Bowl venue and I thought he was going to go on about when it was built, what kind of wood was originally used for the bleachers, and how much popcorn cost in the 1920s.

32

u/ProposalSilent4582 Jan 02 '26

He was going to then someone tapped him on the shoulder and shook their head at him

30

"Here's your noise cancellers, let's get you out of here soon."

u/noahboah Washington Huskies Jan 02 '26

honestly american football is like an autism ore spot. it's historically rich and is the most strategically complicated sport on the planet. As we understand (and let's be honest, accept) neurodivergence more and more i wouldn't be surprised to see all sorts of personalities in and around the game.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 02 '26

I firmly believe Joe Burrow fits this.

7

u/robot_pirate Jan 02 '26

Agree. But, good for him. 🔥🏆

Graduated Haas SOB at Berkeley  Pursuing Master’s at Kelley SOB at IU

Definitely checks out. One of the smartest QBs to come out since Andrew Luck (Stanford), maybe even Fitzpatrick (Harvard)

Graduated Haas SOB at Berkeley  Pursuing Master’s at Kelley SOB at IU

Just wanted to add: Mendoza graduated from Haas (UC Berkeley/Cal) in 3 years, and Haas is one of the best business schools in the country. Dude got into Haas, graduated a year early and did it while also playing in a power conference, then came here (IU) to do an MBA while winning the Heisman and going undefeated. When he arrived in Indiana last summer, he was still finishing his undergraduate degree at Cal and he actually used his NIL money to pay for his final courses.

He's definitely special, and extremely intelligent.

38

u/mpamosavy Iowa Hawkeyes Jan 02 '26

He graduated from one of Canada's top business schools, with really good grades

"The plan: Get people to think Alabama is still relevant and can beat us."

3

u/dougandsomeone Jan 02 '26

You guys talking about the same person? Or did you mean California, not Canada?

7

9

He'll read scripture and teach financial literacy to hookers and bops, and the crazy thing is that it'll work.

He'll spend his spare time at the casinos...

In the back office learning the business.
