Think he just goes to the league. Been a tough end to the season but he's clearly injured behind that shitty line with no run game

Kiper has him ranked third among QBs. Kiper's a fraud, but somebody will buy it

17

u/Woullie_26 Alabama Crimson Tide Jan 02 '26

Real question who's QB3 if not Ty?

Nussmeier???

5

u/Initial_Disaster_834 Ohio State Buckeyes Jan 02 '26

Yeah Nuss is pretty clearly QB4 unless you think Mateers better…

3

u/No-Honey-9364 Jan 02 '26

There won’t be a clear cut 3. Some teams will have Ty, some will have Nuss, some might even have Beck.

2

u/Woullie_26 Alabama Crimson Tide Jan 02 '26

Ty is still above those guys

Especially since he played with a fractured rib.

Don't let recency bias fool you

2

u/No-Honey-9364 Jan 02 '26

I’ve been high on the kid and fully expected him to play himself into the heisman ceremony.

But honestly I’d be surprised if he declares for the draft. He wants to bring a natty to bama.

1

u/Woullie_26 Alabama Crimson Tide Jan 02 '26

I don't mind having Ty back but I think we're in a bad position.

Russell has to much talent to risk him transferring out and Mack followed KDB to Bama

He always felt likes one and done at Bama no matter what.

1

u/No-Honey-9364 Jan 02 '26

An embarrassment of riches you say? Must be tough lol.

If he declares I’d assume third off the board with a team here and there just liking the fit of someone else.

2

u/Woullie_26 Alabama Crimson Tide Jan 02 '26

Yeah that's why to me he feels like a draft goner

And if he says that he was banged up it can excuse his bad play and not hurt his stock too much

I think Nussmeier is the real deal, kid's got a cannon

Dude is a statue though

In this year’s draft? Kiper isn’t wrong, but that’s still not good.

Pretty weak QB class besides Mendoza as well

38

u/CheeseRP Indiana Hoosiers Jan 02 '26

Dante Moore is a solid prospect in my eyes but sparse other than those two

28

u/who_are_you_people24 Cortland Red Dragons Jan 02 '26

As a jets fan who has been trying to talk myself into Moore and resigned to seeing Mendoza in Vegas, today was not a great showcase. It's a 1 QB class in my eyes

8

u/SnooOpinions9048 Iowa Hawkeyes Jan 02 '26

Today was not his best game, but he has a high ceiling. If you are willing to develop him.

17

u/who_are_you_people24 Cortland Red Dragons Jan 02 '26

When have the Jets ever developed a QB lol. Not since Namath

2

u/CornSkoldier Jan 02 '26

Pennington was pretty good until his injury.

Which also shows how cursed the Jets are I guess lol

6

u/GoldandBlue Notre Dame Fighting Irish Jan 02 '26

I think he needs more time to bake. Wouldn't shock me if he goes but he would benefit greatly from more experience

15

u/Pope_Cheetos_XIV Georgia Tech • Central Missouri Jan 02 '26

pretty much. there are so many QBs that could take another year in college but the pool is so weak that if any of them go, they could be QB2 in the draft.

26

u/SoupMadeFreshDaily Clemson Tigers • Georgia Bulldogs Jan 02 '26

He’s still a first-rounder in my eyes, especially with the strength (weakness) of this draft class at QB

10

u/OrangeJuliusCaesr Jan 02 '26

I’m so glad the bears aren’t drafting a qb because he’s the sort of guy they’d pick

5

u/TheNittanyLionKing Penn State Nittany Lions Jan 02 '26

One of these dudes other than Mendoza will become a Steeler and our fanbase will gaslight ourselves that we got the steal of the draft even though all the QBs don’t look very good from an NFL standpoint besides Mendoza

12

u/Lobster_fest Auburn Tigers • Team Chaos Jan 02 '26

He's a first rounder in the same way Brandon Weeden is

13

u/Bahamas_is_relevant William & Mary Tribe • McGill Redbirds Jan 02 '26

I’d be shocked if he’s a first rounder, even in a weak class. Guys like Sanders and Gabriel fell hard.

10

u/Initial_Disaster_834 Ohio State Buckeyes Jan 02 '26

Gabriel rose not fell. He had like a 6th rd grade and the Browns took him 3rd lol.

5

u/jwrtf Texas State • /r/CFB Emeritus Mod Jan 02 '26

yeah but there's the Browns Clause you have to account for (they're dumb as fuck) so it prolly shouldn't count

3

u/Always_Chubb-y Georgia Bulldogs • Transfer Portal Jan 02 '26

I mean Sanders is the only one that really fell

Gabriel going 3rd round was actually surprising given he is a short QB that doesnt have elite physical traits

2

u/SnooOpinions9048 Iowa Hawkeyes Jan 02 '26

There's what, 5 to 7 teams that might take a QB early. He's probably a first rounder.

2

u/MrSam52 Alabama Crimson Tide Jan 02 '26

Even if he’s had some underlying injury the second half of the season I don’t understand how any NFL team can think he’s their franchise guy and take him in the first.

He’s been completely sloppy throughout the second half of the season, yes some of that is on Grubb/no running game but even then he’s made some awful throws where it’s been behind or short of easy open receivers.

I feel like if a team does take him be fully prepared for them to be picking his replacement in two years time at the top of the draft.

4

u/MarketBasketShopper Jan 02 '26

Strong doubt on this. He's had the yips half the season and barely even attempts any real throws.

4

u/Always_Chubb-y Georgia Bulldogs • Transfer Portal Jan 02 '26

It doesn't help he was literally Bama's offense.

They have no running game at all, Ryan Williams developed the drops, and their OLine isnt great

1

u/MarketBasketShopper Jan 02 '26

Yup. And the defense today justifiably gave up when they realized it was no use.

3

u/Always_Chubb-y Georgia Bulldogs • Transfer Portal Jan 02 '26

I mean defense was getting gashed after that first drive

5

u/Woullie_26 Alabama Crimson Tide Jan 02 '26

He's QB3 by default.

He'd be stupid not to

3

u/GoldandBlue Notre Dame Fighting Irish Jan 02 '26

How is that OL so bad? They literally cannot run the ball.

2

u/Always_Chubb-y Georgia Bulldogs • Transfer Portal Jan 02 '26

Doesnt help they don't really have anything special at RB

2

u/MrSam52 Alabama Crimson Tide Jan 02 '26

I think one the OL coach is shit, and two there had been previous talk about KDB scheming with more agile linemen who can get down the field compared to sabans more strong pocket type linemen.

This was the last year of a mix of those and from next season it should be purely the KDB type. Whether that works or not idk but that’s the excuses I’ve heard.

Personally I think it’s ridiculous because it’s littered with top talent both in HS recruitment and where they’ll be drafted in the NFL, to not be able to run the ball is outrageous. Especially a school like Alabama that’s had 2 RBs win the heisman in the last 15 years and been a pipeline to the NFL.

7

u/outbackjesus16 Oklahoma Sooners Jan 02 '26

But I was told that Proctor was the greatest O Lineman in the history of CFB?

8

u/Woullie_26 Alabama Crimson Tide Jan 02 '26

That narrative died week 1 the moment he was getting cooked by the FSU backup Edge

5

u/outbackjesus16 Oklahoma Sooners Jan 02 '26

Was still somehow named a 1st team all American

1

u/elbenji Grinnell Pioneers • Miami Hurricanes Jan 02 '26

lol who said that jeez

6

u/outbackjesus16 Oklahoma Sooners Jan 02 '26

ESPN for the last 2 years. Idk why Bama players always get insanely overhyped. Same with Overton, dude is a solid DT, but CFB analysts talk about him as though he’s the second coming of Aaron Donald.

0

u/elbenji Grinnell Pioneers • Miami Hurricanes Jan 02 '26

Christ. Like he's not even in the top 10 best linemen in football

Would've been nice if he missed the Cash Jones one in our first game lol

2

u/wolfcola777 Jan 02 '26

Which league? The IFL?

9

u/JaysonDeflatum Miami Hurricanes Jan 02 '26

He's the 3rd qb on the board. First half of the season Ty I'd take a shot on

6

u/Bazz27 Texas Longhorns • North Texas Mean Green Jan 02 '26

Too much recency bias, he’s been pretty good for most of the year and a team’s definitely gonna like what they see.

4

u/bellerinho North Dakota • Wyoming Jan 02 '26

Counterpoint: he is a 1 year starter, half the season he was good, half the season he was bad, and now his lasting impression is dropping an absolute dud

2

u/Agitated-Cupcake-594 Jan 02 '26

Half the season he was good, half the season he played with a back injury that severely limited him. I think most teams will realize that as long as you don’t let him play with a back injury, he’s pretty good.

1

u/Bazz27 Texas Longhorns • North Texas Mean Green Jan 02 '26

Totally fair. I don’t think he’s a sure fire stud, but he’s definitely gonna get some teams attention
