ESPN treating Carson Beck like a terminal kid who made a wish to QB Miami instead of a dude who won a ring at Georgia before bagging millions to transfer is just one of the weirder narratives they’ve pushed imo. The game was good enough on its own merit, why did we need that
With NIL and players getting millions, I feel like actually taking classes should be the final no-compromise determiner of whether you can play COLLEGE football.
Tbf it's probably easy to fall back in love with the sport when you don't have class, have 4 million dollars, and don't have Kirby smart chewing your ass every time you make a questionable throw (most of them).
I mean he did have to relearn how to throw a football, but he got paid millions to do it and I think I’d gladly get paid millions to go through that pain
Possibly the biggest sports star in Miami right now, bagging millions of dollars and getting to ball out at a renewed Sun Tan U while taking 12 online only credits.
Adversity indeed. I guess he could have used a bit more support on offense but come on
Carson Beck’s college career ending on an absolutely terrible interception on an absolutely unnecessary throw on what could’ve been the game winning drive of the natty might actually be more poetic than anything Indiana has done in the past two years
Normally I say its wrong to bully college football players since they are just kids, but Beck started taking social security after the game so go off king
Unfortunately, once you pocket $4 mil, the kid excuse goes out the window. You just entered the top 1%, understand your privilege and humble yourself as fans that will never have anything close to what you have cheer you on! You’re a pro now (you are being paid for a service period.) Your safety net is gone and you are subject to everything that goes along with that money…expectations, criticism, considering how your behavior and actions look to the public (I.e. Ferrari…bad move bro. Similar to Shaduer driving around CU in a custom black & gold Rolls Royce.) Act like a gentleman and show some darn respect and appreciation for your position in life, the game and the people that have supported you throughout this journey.
I think the Beck hate is a bit much but he just doesn't have downfield accuracy. He should have just kept trusting his O-line which was fantastic and picking apart zones.
The reason so many people hate beck is so many people (college reporters, coaches, staff) act like he's an amazingly good player who had a tough career when he's easily just good at best.
Ya Indiana baited him with that one. Dude was tearing apart zone with shorter throws. Just hold steady and keep it going. But he fell for the bait unfortunately for him.
He’s always been tough as nails, even back at UGA. I intellectually understand why some UGA fans don’t like him, but I am surprised by the intensity of the reaction you see from some.
Disagree on the unnecessary throw. Despite the horrible analysis of that play (maybe he was thinking blah blah…), he could’ve completed that if he placed the ball close to the pylon. It was just a dog shit throw, like 10 yds short and inside.
Oh, don't forget keeping the drive alive on a call they hadn't been making the entire game when Miami was doing it to Mendoza.
Seriously, IU rarely took penalties all year. Miami was one of the most penalized teams in all of college football. And honestly, rightfully so, half the damn plays they were holding. Hell one of their 3rd and longs the lineman damn near ripped the jersey off of IU's defender.. no call. They even replayed the thing like a dozen times because that play was so relevant.
The broadcast kept commenting that he was fooled by the middle of the field safety shifting over to help with the pass which allowed the CB to play trail technique, except that still means you underthrew the fucking pass if it allows the TRAILING defender to make a play on it, not the safety shifting over to cover the deep ball.
Watch the replay, the CB pulls short to make the play while the receiver is still running to the endzone.
Right it's driven me nuts all season how people are completely rewriting the narrative like Georgia excommunicated him lmao. No, he was leaving one way or another by his own volition.
Im sure getting paid millions to not go to classes, live in Miami, bang a Cavender twin and collect 2 rings as a backup QB at UGA has to be absolutely fucking miserable lmao
If you want to take away his backup accolades, he still only lost 3 games as the starter on a top 3 roster while driving a lambo around Athens, with one season resulting in a SEC championship and a CFP bid. Yes, he had a bad injury at the end, but this isn’t a Trindad Chambliss story of a guy clawing his way out of D2.
He was actually ahead of Stet on the depth chart at the start of the 2021 season. When JT Daniels got injured before the second game of the season, Stetson barely got the nod over Beck… allegedly due to Beck’s attitude issues
Yeah, I messaged my Georgia coworker a pic of him sad-facing. Poor guy might wreck his Ferrari in the parking garage where his penthouse is. Ugh, I don't know how he'll make it in life! (/s.....)
Every time I see that dude with his cross eye black I'm reminded of his struggle as a persecuted christian. "And Jesus said rake in the dough and be performative"
I mean to be fair they always show the losing players reactions in the national championship, them focusing on Beck for 4 seconds after the game isn’t out of the ordinary lol, yall just be complaining about anything
If you live in georgia and understand how the mutts have to have a scapegoat every time they don’t win a national title, you’d understand it more. They still blame him for last year and talk about him throwing picks all the time. It’s stupid
I was honestly astonished how hard Fowler and Kirk were performing felatio on Indiana the entire game, Carson Beck played an OUTSTANDING 2nd half and they didn’t mention ANYTHING about it, all Hoosiers all the time.
