The losingest program in college football history wins the national championship. Fucking beautiful. Anything really is possible.

I feel like the sick kid who’s watching other kids play outside his window on spring break.

Hey, at least you're still in the neighborhood where the other kids play! We got sent to go stay at grandma's house and attend the school for kids who can't fundraise good.

Hey man, there is no better feeling than being close and no worse feeling than watching it slip away. I hope you guys get your run at it eventually. Just after K-state makes another run at it.

And to do it undefeated is unbelievable.

It’s 2036. Cig has just notched his 10th national championship. His teams haven’t been defeated in over a decade.

You google the word win.

Curt shows up instead.

The NIL era is why they won. No more hoarding and illegally paying recruits levels the playing field.

Doesn’t really level the playing field just different faces at the same table

Exactly and one of the wealthiest people in America actively donating. Not trying to take anything away from Indiana, but It’s crazy to act like the NIL era is an era of a complete meritocracy 🤣

That's true, but it also didn't really matter for this Indiana team. Maybe that ends up mattering for them in the future, but it was mostly the transfer rules that allowed Cignetti to bring a lot of his JMU team with him and bring in under recruited guys.

No when you’re a full member of the conference that gets $90 M+ media rights checks every year. Plus the largest living alumni population and a prominent business school.

I mean, you're wrong, but so are your detractors. The field is still wildly imbalanced, just in a different way. These days it's less lopsided for the top ~5-10 teams, but more lopsided for the top ~15-25 teams, vs. those below them.

Aren’t we saying the same thing? I said there are different faces at the same table. Maybe I wasn’t clear?

1

u/ElTigreChang1 Jan 20 '26

that seems like saying it's just a different 5-10 teams now

Not how that works at all
