To be fair if you had to wait 3.5 hours to do your one job and the coach bails you’d be pretty furious too

u/DwyaneWade305 Florida Gators Sep 13 '26

Especially since the other reporter got her interview with Arch.

49

u/Spencer1K Alabama • Florida State Sep 13 '26

bailed twice actually

22

u/500rockin /r/CFB Sep 13 '26

Meh the first time, they could have shot it while Holly was doing hers with Ryan Day, but they were having difficulties.

14

u/greatGoD67 UTSA Roadrunners • Texas Longhorns Sep 13 '26

It looked like they took so long to set up the interview, and Sark got swept up in the flood of celebration

27

u/Doesnt_fuck_fish Sep 13 '26 edited Sep 13 '26

Yeah I’d cry in my millions after waiting all game just to ask hard hitting questions like “does it feel good to win” or “are you proud of your team”

Shit takes real talent. I can’t imagine how she must feel knowing she couldn’t give Americans the answers we so desperately need.

No disrespect to Holly. I know she’s worked hard to make it to where she is. The whole immediate post game coach/player interview is just stupid. No One gives a shit except for the network mbas circle jerking themselves.

12

u/miboyl Indiana Hoosiers • Sickos Sep 13 '26

Especially considering the post game press conference will ask Sark the same hard hitting type of questions. Anyone getting mad about this needs to get over themselves

2

u/Doesnt_fuck_fish Sep 13 '26

They make me so irrationally mad. I know there are contracts and other bullshit, but it’s the lowest form of journalism imo. But that’s pretty on par with Mickey Mouse’s business model nowadays.

She makes more than any of us to do a job that's a joke she'll get over it

35

u/purplebuffalo55 UConn Huskies Sep 13 '26

You'd be upset as well if you waited hours just to get disrespected like that on national TV, be real

104

u/Griff1604 Michigan State Spartans Sep 13 '26

Sark was also left around waiting at halftime for his interview. If they don’t want to respect his time why should he respect theirs?

4

u/DoctorWaluigiTime Kent State Golden Flashes Sep 13 '26

Those who want respect, give respect.

-26

u/purplebuffalo55 UConn Huskies Sep 13 '26

Ok so why take it out on Holly Rowe? She wasn’t the one causing him to wait at halftime. It’s like yelling at the cashier because the foods taking too long. Besides, he made the entire stadium wait 3 quarters before he decided to have his team play football, yet they were patient. He can give 30 seconds of his time

37

u/Potato_fortress ESPN Classic • Team Chaos Sep 13 '26

Counterpoint: the coach of a college football team has important things to be doing at halftime and shouldn’t be made to stand around and wait for dumb media obligations so he can either give a boilerplate answer or slip up and become a meme.

An ESPN sideline reporter has absolutely nothing important to do throughout the entire game or after it though. Their timeline doesn’t have to be respected and neither does the network’s if they can’t get their shit together.

u/HoustonTrashcans Texas Longhorns Sep 13 '26

Normally in a situation like that the reporter would just take the mic back and say something like "alright coach is clearly excited, what a great win by Texas" and then just move on.

8

u/onesneakymofo Alabama • Jacksonville State Sep 13 '26

Ill get disrespected for 750k/yr please

28

u/equality1989 Auburn Tigers Sep 13 '26 edited Sep 13 '26

Ya she got paid crazy money to do a pointless job. I feel for her. He just won the biggest game of his career. Who gives a shit if he regurgitates mindless one liners to her

-5

u/onesneakymofo Alabama • Jacksonville State Sep 13 '26

The biggest game of his career was the CFP win as an OC imo. Winning a championship to propel yourself into a multimillion dollar head coach position for a blue blood school? Yes please.

Now if he beats them in the finals rematch (if they both make it) then that'll be bigger because he'll probably retire as the Longhorns coach after an extension.

37

u/BobStoops401K Oklahoma Sooners Sep 13 '26

Sure but she'll also get over it.

-42

u/purplebuffalo55 UConn Huskies Sep 13 '26

Why does the reporter have to get over it? Sark makes 11 million a year. He can get over himself and do a couple 30 second interviews during the game

44

u/Cudizonedefense Florida • Florida State Sep 13 '26

They made him wait around forever the first time. He can give it back to them at the end if he wants if he’s willing to pay the fine

-16

u/purplebuffalo55 UConn Huskies Sep 13 '26

Okay and he made his fanbase wait 3 quarters before he decided to get his team to play football. They waited the entire time patiently and made noise when it mattered most. Maybe he should show Holly Rowe (who had nothing to do with the halftime interviews or the technical difficulties) a fraction of the grace his fanbase showed him tonight …

God, Hurley is so perfect to be a coach of the basketball team. He is an asshole amoung a fanbase of them.

Maybe we shouldn't give two shits about Holly, who has done nothing but throw out some softball bullshit questions her entire career and not give a shit about what a billion dollar corporation thinks they should have? Right? Fuck both of them. God damn it, I dont want to be on side of a Texas coach. Shit.

16

u/canadianbroncos Clemson Tigers Sep 13 '26

She probably makes 6 figures to ask like 8 questions a game and no one gives a fuck lmao

Foh

8

Quick Google search indicates around $800k/yr.

Why you so pissy over an interview literally no one will care about lmao relax

7

u/BobStoops401K Oklahoma Sooners Sep 13 '26

Oh dick move for sure. I'm just agreeing with i OP that Holly will get over it

19

u/coney36creels Sep 13 '26

The game was over and was arguably the biggest win of Sark’s career. That’s why she has to get over it.

She provides absolutely nothing of value in that situation.

-14

u/TheGeekOffTheStreet Notre Dame Fighting Irish Sep 13 '26

She’s trying to do her job.

22

That makes two of them. She’ll be aight.

Yeah. Her job provides nothing of value.

Well if it makes her feel any better most of us never respected her job to begin with

8

u/Unrelenting_Salsa LSU Tigers • Georgia Bulldogs Sep 13 '26

What little respect I ever had for it evaporated when that NFL sideline reporter admitted that she just makes shit up 90% of the time because coaches don't want to talk to sideline reporters outside of before kickoff, halftime, and the end of the game.

Which is not surprising at all, but it does make it hard to take them seriously.

Real

25

u/World-Nomad Alabama Crimson Tide Sep 13 '26

It’s all perspective. He wasn’t trying to be disrespectful. It was his drop the mic moment, and she took it the wrong way. She could’ve embraced it and followed up with something to make it a fun moment.

15

u/master_roshis_hat Nebraska Cornhuskers Sep 13 '26

Completely agree, she could have smiled and rolled with it, you know, be a PROFESSIONAL... ultimately the moment isn't about YOU. No one actually gives a shit about the reporter, the moment isn't about some ESPN reporter, it's about the team.

19

u/Interesting_Page_122 Sep 13 '26

That would require her to be charismatic

2

u/Overtons_Window Auburn Tigers • Ole Miss Rebels Sep 13 '26

No, the point of college football is drama. There is no right and wrong way to handle things. Only dramatic and boring. What she did was not boring, and is therefore good.

Holly could peg me on national tv if I got paid what she gets paid.

12

u/pwnzorder Texas Longhorns Sep 13 '26

It was kinda on her, she made Sark wait 3 1/2 minutes in the tunnel at half time while she glazed ryan day. So Sark bailed on her for the 2nd.

Other lady made him wait. But probably an all encompassing F U to the broadcast.

2

u/hybridck South Carolina Gamecocks • Team Chaos Sep 13 '26

Tbf the other lady didn't intentionally make him wait, they were having technical difficulties and she apologized on behalf of ESPN after halftime

11

u/Complex_Length_9431 Sep 13 '26

Maybe that means your job isn't adding anything of value and couldn't simply go away and nobody would miss it

I bet Diana Russini would have got the interview.
