Live by the NFL HC flameout as an OC, die by the NFL HC flameout as an OC

I don't think Arthur Smith was playing defense for us

Our guys are young and they'll get better

Fair, but it was both. Defense, offense, and throw some on Day too. But I’m confident Day can turn an embarrassing L into a blessing, he’s done it before and that one stung much worse

I agree with that. It's a 12 team playoff and our difficult schedule suddenly does not look that difficult at all...so I still think we're a playoff team

I don't think Patricia was out there trying to make tackles either. We've seen what he did with our defense last year

Our guys are young, they'll learn by the end of the year. But Texas' offense was better than our defense tonight. Texas is about to be the number one team in the country, and they beat us by 1 at their stadium

I do put some of this on Patricia. I said before that we have an unproven defense full of good, not great, players. And I knew that whichever defense got too aggressive would lose. In the first half we ran contain, which ALSO maintained gap discipline. In the 2nd half we got aggressive and they threw to the open player. Because gap discipline was ruined and their oline could pin and trap the blitzers, it was easy to get the HB to the 2nd level (which is now trapped at the LOS) and get 8-10 yards before getting to the third level. We also don't have the players to line up in man and stop the crossing routes. The entire 2nd half gameplan was called like we still had last year's defense.

Defense suffers when offense can't stay on the field. Our guys were fucking gassed.

No but he was making the playcalls that were resulting in three and outs that made the young in-experienced defense tired.

One of the most overrated OC’s in football. The one time he coached a good offense in his career was when he had Prime Derrick Henry, Prime AJ Brown and an All Pro offensive line.

There’s no shot I’d trust him in a big game for four quarters and certainly not on 4th and 2 with points available on the board.
