That's for making us buy out Mark Stoops

Stoops would’ve went up 17-7, ran the ball for the rest of the game, and let A&M win 17-24.

Genuinely, I think the biggest difference was that drive we got the field goal on.

1st and 10 we run the ball for 2 yards.

Stoops ball would've ran it twice more up the middle, taken 3 minutes off the clock, and punted.

Instead on 2nd and 8 Stein has the balls to throw and we get a 32 yard gain.

This is the best comment right here. I like underdog SEC football and I think this is totally correct. I hate to say it but old school Kentucky football would have let A&M slip in by being too conservative

It’s 110% true. Stoops played conservative with way too much time left. Stein was as conservative at the end but it made sense.

It was weird, we were always way to conservative under Stoops unless you're Mizzou and then we ball out for some reason

That pass to Boyer WAS the game. HUGE

This is not even an argument we've literally watched that for years.

Will tried his best. He just forgot to start doing it sooner.

I think Will knew that assuming no turnovers, UK could’ve gone 3/out every possession and there was literally not enough time for AM to score 3 times before game over. I take it as he just had faith in his guys to not do something stupid

The FG basically sealed it. If that missed you probably would have had to be more aggressive but once it became three scores the only way Aggies were winning was turnovers or onside kicks.

Could not believe he chose to kick that. It was like 4th and 2, 52-yarder and the kicker was 4/13 in his career from 40+

21

u/CerealSpiller22 27d ago

And he absolutely nailed it. Literally.

I totally expected it to bounce out

And somehow it doinked IN for the FG, don't think I've seen that before.

That's the backup kicker who had to transfer away from Davidson after going 1-11 or something like that. Dude was supposed to be a kickoff specialist, which is what he did at USF last year

6

u/Catturd5671 27d ago

His decision to do that might be to get his kicker to regain his confidence after missing that chip shot.

It’s obvious that Coach Stein believes in his kicker to attempt that long ass fg try with field possession and momentum on the line.

Agreed. I thought the same thing

You play to win the game.

Confidently incorrect.

Jesus Christ. Show some consideration and flag that as NSFW for those of us still suffering from PTSD.

17-24

Come on that's ridiculous. Everyone knows now that we have a decent place kicker we go for it on 4th down and don't try for 3.

So happy for Stein. He got way too much shit from Oregon fans, and I’m glad he’s got a signature win this early

From one Basketball school to another, I'm happy Kentucky football is on the upswing.

It's odd to think that he now coaches for the #1 team in the nation isn't it?

Seems it worked out for both of us.

u/freakymrq Louisville Cardinals 27d ago

Idk that last game with him might've done it
