Sucks that people are going to walk away from this game thinking Northwestern is just the scrappy, “spooky”, little engine that could. That’s not what our program is anymore.

We’re a good football team. A damn good one. We wanted this game badly to help change that perception. But we were unable to execute on our game plan in critical moments against the defending national champions. GG.

Oh I think this game will change perception quite a bit, but next weak is a great chance to make a statement in your new home. Go get em.

Nah, they’re still jNW. They’ll probably beat Iowa because Northwestern with a mobile QB is Kirk’s kryptonite for some reason, but they’re still like a 6-8 win team whose stadium will have more visiting fans than home fans when they play any B1G school with a sizable Chicago alumni presence, which was their perception as a team under Fitzgerald not that long ago. Nothing special, just Northwestern

Games are getting closer across the board and upsets left and right. After looking around this result doesn’t really surprise me. NW looks better, I think it’s wise to wait and see how much tho lol.

You have a believer in me. Hopefully y'all can pull off one of these top matchup upsets, you have the players and coaches to do it.

Saw way more consistent highs from Chiles tonight than I did under last year’s MSU staff. He’s a baller and I’m excited to watch him.

To be fair you did have me spooked.

I picked yall to upset Indiana. For two reasons: 1) I thought Indiana was not as good as people thought and 2) I thought Northwestern was better than people realized. I was so close to being made a genius. Very sad.

Offense just took a little too long to get going sadly or it would be a different story.

Lol NU has been playing this brand of football since Pat Fitzgerald was LB. OL isn't as good and QB play is better, but this is textbook NU football.

No it isn’t. This is a very different team and style of football since Fitz. We actually throw the ball down field.

Yeah… Can we just not play each other this year?

I'm a Hoosier, and I walked away thinking that NW is good with DAMN good coaching. They will be thirsty next week against PSU.

Braun was a fantastic hire. Not looking forward to our game.

People need to rethink their mindset. Last year people kept doubting us, the Hoosiers, but we proved them wrong and showed everyone we are a force to be reckoned with. It takes a very good team to make the team sweat like this.

you guys are giving off 2024 Indiana vibes, not #2 is kill Purdue style spooky

Until Northwestern wins a big game that's what people will think. But you all have a chance to prove them wrong this season. I believe Northwestern can be damn good after watching that game.

We went into Happy Valley last year and beat Penn State.

1

u/originalusername4567 Kansas Jayhawks 20d ago

And Penn State just lost to Wisconsin so they are vulnerable

Yeah was talking with someone before the game that NW has a good program being built up fast and that the Indiana game was going to be closer than people thought. I only wish the smaller B1G teams followed suit (ahem, Purdue)

My friends and I were talking during the game (and after hate watching Colorado last week) that we are all very happy we aren't playing Northwestern this year.

You guys are good. Not going to be an easy out for anybody.

You deserve to lose for hiring Chip Kelly.

Unpopular opinion right after a strong second half, but if you had any QB other than Aidan Chiles (as far as B1G caliber transfer QBs go) I think you might have won that game.

The first half was Aidan personally spotting Indiana about a 9 point swing between the safety and blowing what looked like a promising scoring drive at the end of the first half.

Chiles wasn't a one-man band out there, Northwestern has a lot of talent. Just need someone to execute the offense consistently and on-schedule.

u/Rigatoknee Northwestern Wildcats 21d ago

I think Chiles deserves more credit than you’re giving him.

A less mobile quarterback would have had a really bad day today.

u/Creative_Elevator650 Indiana Hoosiers 21d ago

Yeah. Dude scrambled his way out of some very tough spots, dodged sacks and found positive yardage on them too multiple times. Had me looking defeated a few times in the stands when he would barely miss getting tackled multiple times.

The wide receivers were bailing him out on a fair few throws.
