Cig was like 62 when Indiana hired him

But he still had a lot to prove. Huge chip on his shoulder.

Also, 62 is notably not 'late 60s'

Yeah I got the exact opposite vibe from Whittingham. He committed so much of his life to Utah that I was sure he only saw Michigan as a paycheck. And fair play to him, I don't judge him for that, but Michigan shouldn't have hired him. Always got the feeling they thought it was a "safe" hire, but for me the ceiling was always looked like 8/9 wins, no playoffs, no big ten title.

Every coach hired to huge programs have a lot to prove. This makes no sense.

Thank you for considering us a huge program.

Unless you’re able to prove the existence of the chip on his shoulder, this is such a clear case of hindsight bias lol

Anyone who shows up with “down with Michigan and Ohio state” and “google me, I win” has something to prove. Thus, chip.

Also Cig at Indiana is an outlier in like every possible metric. You just can’t compare any other situation to his

Boosters around the country are going to waste so much money chasing the next Cignetti

Outliers exist in every model.

Good coaches are outliers. There are plenty of bad younger coaches but when they suck, no one focusses on the age.

Damn, wow. 65 today. Less smoke and more sunscreen... everybody is looking younger than the old days. But I thought he was in his early fifties.

You haven't googled him before?

Cig is also like the greatest outlier and exception we’ve ever seen.

But he had the hate in his heart of a man half his age.

Yeah.. I think everyone here is wrong. Cfb is just an anomaly that continues to not make sense. Also no /s
