The refs really screwed up with that PI non-call, but that has to be the single stupidest and most blatant unsportsmanlike conduct I've ever seen to seal it.

I think the LSU shoe debacle will forever be #1

We were there (it was freezing) and it made for a glorious Thanksgiving!

I think it was funnier, but nobody was hurt. Here, a dude started yanking on and whacking away at another dude for absolutely no gain.

They're wearing suits of armor, no one got hurt.

Got two coaches fired and nearly redefined both programs for years to come. (RIP Pirate Mike)

The Shoe Throw is iconic because of how stupid of an act it was to chuck a cleat as far as you can in celebration, but LSU still had to drive into FG range. This one just straight lost Bama the game, IMO it was even more brutal.

Some argue that the entire Florida football program has yet to recover from the shoe throw.

that one was funnier, this one was stupider-- it determined the outcome

Why did he punch a second time as its highly likely if he didnt punch a second time he would have gotten off

89

u/anonymous_herald Alabama • Mississippi State 6d ago

Because he's Dijon Lee and had the worst game of his career

32

u/Huge_Employment_6424 Alabama • Northwestern 6d ago

Our defensive staff must be absolutely chowing down on glue sticks and crayons on the sidelines for them to think it was a good idea for Lee to be in the game after the first or second quarter.

2

u/the_lost_carrot Alabama Crimson Tide 6d ago

Yeah UGA was just bullying on him in the second half.

12

u/AgencyFew7601 6d ago

Which is saying a lot after the FSU game in week 3. Just been a brutal stretch for Lee these last few weeks. He's the weak link keeping Bama from being able to line up and just run man more.

Rumor is he's named after the mustard...

Had no mustard last night.

Dandridge SOLD the second hit too after he processed what was going down

31

u/Cripple_X Georgia Bulldogs 6d ago

Yeah, it absolutely looked like he took a flop to sell it.

25

u/McScroggz12 6d ago

In fairness he shouldn’t have even needed to sell it. It was unsportsmanlike and shitty behavior. Can’t blame Georgia for selling an obvious penalty.

7

u/Trick_Slice 6d ago

100% this. He had more awareness than 5

3

u/_RedMallard_ 6d ago

Probably for similar reasons to why he punched the first time

Idk man, that year the Mississippi player did a pee like a dog celebration and cost the game is up there

u/kangis_khan /r/CFB 6d ago

Ah yes, the old "Piss and Miss"

I saw that player go down in the background right before the call and I was like oh god what fucking idiot shit did we just do to blow the game.

Turns out some big idiot shit lol

10

u/bamakid1272 Alabama Crimson Tide 6d ago

Yeah, I could be pissed about the bad reffing (and I am to a degree), but that's pretty much out of our control.

What's not out of our control is Lee keeping is fucking cool and literally giving them the win. What an asbolute dumbfuck

Umm. The TX bathroom break?

A bit hilarious but ultimately anticlimactic way to end that back and forth game. I wanted to see what Gunner and the offense could do in crunch time

1

u/Designer_B Iowa Hawkeyes 6d ago

Did he pretend to whip his dick out and piss on the quarterback? Did he pretend to be a dog and piss on the pylon? Did he throw a shoe?

No? Than it might be top 5.

George Pickens literally punched a guy once lol. Like not even hand fighting leading to a pinch just a straight up punch

1

u/FrenchFreedom888 Oklahoma State Cowboys 6d ago

What about that one from earlier in the season where the player was acting like he was peeing on the field

1

u/g8trgr8t Florida Gators 6d ago

The UF shoe toss still wins that competition. the DE that acted like he was pissing all over the qb and the one who hiked his leg on the goal line were dumber than this too. at least this was an overheated moment of anger, just not sheer stupidity

Makeup call for the SEC championship a few years ago and the “catch” on 4th down lol

1

u/Jtadair98 Georgia Bulldogs 6d ago

The Georgia player stun locked after he punches him the first time into getting another hand to the face is legit killing me.

u/scrotumsniffles 6d ago

Meh, counterargument is that the foolish personal foul at the end likely doesn’t happen if that defensive PI is called and Alabama either ties with a FG or scores a TD and takes the lead.

Of course those outcomes themselves are hypotheticals, but #5’s actions were almost certainly a reaction to, at least in part, the score/trajectory of the game in that moment (i.e. Georgia still with the lead after Bama got hosed on a missed call)

11

u/Huge_Employment_6424 Alabama • Northwestern 6d ago

I appreciate the hypo that paints us in a better light, but Lee's behavior was also partially a byproduct of his other big penalties and blown coverages throughout the night spilling over into an expression of anger onto another player. I could foresee him doing something equally stupid if Bama had scored a FG or TD on the missed PI call and UGA was marching down the field to win/send to OT. This was a purely selfish play motivated by embarrassment, by my understanding, rather than something motivated by collective injustice towards the team.

u/blackravenclaw Georgia Bulldogs • SEC 6d ago

My jaw dropped when I saw that it was Lee yet again

3

u/EmpoleonNorton Georgia Bulldogs • Georgia Bulldogs 6d ago

I have never in my life heard an announcer call out a player like that, calling it "on brand".

3

u/Huge_Employment_6424 Alabama • Northwestern 6d ago

When I saw he was still in the game, I paused the television to see if I could find the flavor of glue sticks our defensive staff was eating.
