The Jax state fans came out more than the middle Tennessee fans came out
2
u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 3d ago
Jax State actually has a successful culture and winning team with fan support. I've never seen MTSU have that.

Two great games on a tuesday evening where folks on the east coast can go to a bed a half decent hour. Hell yeah.
2
u/braves-geek Jacksonville State • Georgia 3d ago
This is cool. I'm surprised they didn't follow FIU into the locker room.

u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 3d ago
I like how they were like "right here on ESPN2" when they're on ESPNU

Jacksonville won't have a game in 15 days? Holy moly

So you have all 11 players ready for the kick before the timeout, and then somehow one of the players decides to head back to the bench?? It’s not like they really change the personnel on field goals unit. Make it make sense
2
1
u/Intelligent_Dress347 Alabama Crimson Tide • Georgia Bulldogs 3d ago
Well the K was trying to get an extra kick in during the TO lol

4
u/mayomayeaux Maryland • Oklahoma State 3d ago
Rushing the lineman on and off really messed up the rhythm of the operation indeed

Feel like that was bad play management by FIU at the end. 13 seconds, why not run to center up then spike?

They were way way too rushed there. They had 10+ seconds on the play clock
2

u/Traditional_Frame418 Wisconsin Badgers • Big Ten 3d ago
That FG operation felt rushed and FIU had 20sec on the play clock.

People hate on Tuesday night football.
Counterpoint: I'm now a fan of Jax State.
This game would be buried on a Saturday. Here we get a great game that gets way more eyes on it.
Also as a football junkie. This stretch of six weeks with football everyday of the week is what heaven must be like.

This announcer just said “the kicker waits in the wind”
Im crying 😭 😂
1
u/notarticulate31 Texas Longhorns • Utah Utes 3d ago
Did he not follow that up by saying “almost no wind”?! I’m confused by the weather conditions!

I really doubt it

Good play by that WR not diving for the ball, that would've been a loss of 20 seconds for like 5 yards

I don’t care if we are able to win this, Kelly should still be fired tonight no matter what

THEY DECLINED IT? Could've accepted it & made that kick a walk-off FG instead. Do they not trust Rippa?

u/No-Confusion47 Texas Longhorns • Miami Hurricanes 3d ago
Nvm it was the 5 yard penalty not the 15 yard one

Ok playing for the FG now makes me think he'll miss it. I thought he would make it until that....
9
u/Ok-Helicopter7689 Jacksonville State Gamecocks 3d ago
I don't trust the defense to stop FIU In 40 seconds
3
u/Dry-Membership3867 Jacksonville State • Arkansas 3d ago
They’re playing for the FG and Rippa will shank it
2
u/Direct_Economist_662 Jacksonville State • Wake Fore… 3d ago
He has no clutch bone istg. He’s good whenever there’s no pressure
6
7
u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 3d ago
For any latecomers btw, this game is for a tie at the top of the conference standings with Liberty. Whoever wins this game completely controls their destiny to make the championship game.
3
u/Intelligent_Dress347 Alabama Crimson Tide • Georgia Bulldogs 3d ago
Lmao FIU had 3 guys covering grass on that bust lol
3
u/GMHinHD Miami Hurricanes • UCLA Bruins 3d ago
At this point do you let them score and try to preserve two timeouts and 45ish seconds if you’re FIU?

I don't typically hate on announcers, but I've slept 30 minutes in the last 48 hours and I still think I'd be more comprehensible than them calling this game.

Rippa had the game winner against his own team? Are these commentators drinking in the booth?
2
u/No-Confusion47 Texas Longhorns • Miami Hurricanes 3d ago
Am I dumb or why isn't FIU calling a timeout here?
2
u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 3d ago
I know what Jax State fans feel about Rippa, but I think he nails this one for the win

Learning a whole lot of information about a guy named "Rippa" real quick, and I'll tell you one thing, I don't like the sound of this guy.
3
u/Dry-Membership3867 Jacksonville State • Arkansas 3d ago
Our kicker, literally shanks extra points. And also has a tendency to shank chip shots, especially down the middle
6
u/Condom_Breaker256 Billable Hours • Jacksonvil… 3d ago
I swear to god we better not place the game on Rippa's boot...
2
5
u/Ok-Helicopter7689 Jacksonville State Gamecocks 3d ago
Rippa is gonna get the walk off kick blocked for a scoop and score. Please just go for the inzone Kelly
2
4
u/Dry-Membership3867 Jacksonville State • Arkansas 3d ago
I can’t wait to lose because Rippa shanks it and we choke in OT

Alright folks, we're nearing the end of the game and here's Willie Simmons on the sideline. "Shotgun Willie"...they call him that because he was such a decisive quarterback in high school.
1
u/AriDreams Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 3d ago
The was stupidest series of events ive seen in awhile. You have the free play, chuck it up. Nope, you get a holding offset. Fine, you still can go for 4th down. Nah, let's do delay of game.
Do you really believe your defense this much to hold them back? Feel like this is gonna bit them back real hard.
2
u/Intelligent_Dress347 Alabama Crimson Tide • Georgia Bulldogs 3d ago
Kennesaw did a similar thing last week. Could’ve basically milked the game away and gotten a shorter kick. Threw 3 straight incompletions, missed a 40 yarder (by a mile) and gave it to Jax State with like 2:30 left lol
4
u/Dry-Membership3867 Jacksonville State • Arkansas 3d ago
You haven’t seen this game in full then. Because we’ve done stupider tonight
1
u/AriDreams Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 3d ago
I started watching in the late second so maybe that is the case.

u/East-Westerly UCLA Bruins 3d ago
Between this and last game, I just feel Jax St. is so freakin lucky with the calls from the refs... tonight with that late holding call to wipe out the 4th down FIU conversion plus the fumble-6 called an incompletion.... and last week in which Kennesaw St. was penalized like nothing I've ever seen before.
Shout out the Gamecocks but yeesh
