Doubled from 2 to 4 after 16 years
Tripled from 4 to 12 after 10 years
Doubled from 12 to 24 after 3 yearsSeems we’re going to skip 48 and move right to 72, and likely by 2028

Well scoring 27 points is not bad but giving up 66 is like having no defense at all. They might need to look for new coordinator after this season

While playing vanilla, BYU went up 38-7 five minutes into the second half and then pulled all the starters. It was one of those games where the score is whatever you want it to be. It appears that has continued into conference play.

I had that happen about fifteen years ago. I'd already had a disabling injury, then in quick succession I had a job loss, the illness and death of a parent, a second job loss, divorce, the illness and death of a sibling, and another job loss. Things are better for me now, but they were rough for a couple years.
Not long after, one of my friends also had a hard stretch. Great guy, wonderful with kids and rescue dogs. He didn't make it. We'd drifted apart at that time because my ex was a closer friend to his wife. But I wonder if I could have done anything that would have helped. I know there's more good he could have done, and more we could have done for him.
Find something where you can help, and where you can be helped. Best of luck.

11

Not sure it’s really a lateral move considering UConn is an independent and is really only a “power” school in their Olympic sports.
Post Big East collapse, UConn unfortunately lost any “power” status they had in football.

I was in marching band during the final 3 years of Fairchild and the first year of McElwain. I have seen things, but even that didn’t break me.
Year 1 hurts, but year 2 should be a drastic upgrade
2
u/Boatswain-or-scruffy Colorado State • New Mexico 1d ago
I was in college during the last year of addazio and the first 3 of norvell, I can still only take so much 😭😭
But yes, year 2 with a halfway decent defense is a bright light to look forward to.
5
u/MileHighDragon Colorado State Rams 1d ago
McElwain went 4-8 year 1, 7-6 year 2 (New Mexico Bowl Win), and 10-3 in year 3.
That said, a lot of CSU fans online have no patience for that, so they’ll panic as per usual.
2
u/Boatswain-or-scruffy Colorado State • New Mexico 1d ago
I mean, I get being optimistic, but it's hard to constantly be that through Daz, Norvell, Fairchild and so many other coaches 😭😭
At this point I think it's somewhat warranted to be a bit frustrated that we consistently overspend and underperform
3
u/MileHighDragon Colorado State Rams 1d ago
Fair.
But it’s year 1 of a rebuild and we’d spend even more money blowing it up and starting again.
I’d prefer year 1 of a rebuild to year 4 of the mayhem in Boulder any day

Your offense looked pretty good
3
u/MileHighDragon Colorado State Rams 1d ago
It’s small comfort, but after how bad the offense was last year, I’ll take what I can get.
Now adjust the defense the rest of the season and offseason and we should be back in business.
(I hope)

u/whiporee123 Florida Gators 1d ago
We need to play the softest defense imaginable. Let them get 4 or 5 a play and hope they screw up. It's better than giving up the 40 yarders we're doing now. if we score, kick an onside every single time -- if they're going to score anyway, no harm in giving them a short field.
It looks like we're loading the box most plays, and then getting everyone blocked. Not a great combination. Also have ungodly bad fundamentals when it comes to tackling and angles.

Unfortunately, the Texas State kicker missed a 31-yard field goal that would have put the score at 69 in the fourth. And why was the starting QB still in the game up 39? Was QB2 late to practice?
Similarly in last week's blowout over San Diego State, Oregon State had 4th & 1 at the SDSU 12 up 66-14 - but went for it unsuccessfully.

HAHA! What the heck? Did both teams decide that the game had gotten old after the 3rd quarter and agreed to just stop trying? And I guess Colorado State doesn't have another coach that's capable of being the DC. CSU only stopped Texas State twice in the whole game, according to the play-by-play: one punt and one missed field goal. It doesn't seem to me like CSU's defensive problems were all on one bad coordinator, but they also don't have anybody that can do the job now. Maybe Norvell's mess was a lot to clean up from, which we in Reno would know nothing about...

Fun Fact: Texas State broke the school record for most offensive yards ever in a game with 716 yards and most rushing yards in a game with 504 yards.
They also tied their record for most points against an FBS team.
The other time they scored 66 points against an FBS team was against New Mexico State in 2012.
