Penn? ....Why the FUCK did you not SPIKE THE BALL?

u/penisthightrap_ Missouri Tigers 18h ago
What an insane end.
I’ve never witnessed that before.
Team couldn’t decide to spike it or kick so offense and special teams on the field at the same time, just for the kicker to run on the field and rush a kick that he almost nailed but was just short.
Wow. And I thought it was over with the interception!

I fucking sprinted to this thread to see if anyone else saw how braindead that clock management (from an Ivy no less) was and I was not disappointed

u/BoringJuiceBox Arizona State Sun Devils 18h ago
How much are they even paying coaches at schools this size? I could fuckin do better
1
u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 18h ago
Ivy League doesn't publicly disclose salaries unfortunately

Honestly, props to the kicker. I thought he nailed it.
2
u/BoringJuiceBox Arizona State Sun Devils 18h ago
I really think he would have made it if he had time to stand back and not be rushed.. fuckin bonkers
2
u/kwp302 WKU Hilltoppers • Tennessee Volunteers 18h ago
Yeah I mean he had to quickly guesstimate where to line up. Looks like he was a little too close and had to shorten his steps
1
u/BoringJuiceBox Arizona State Sun Devils 4h ago
I said the same thing, usually in CFB and NFL they take 5 steps back and 2 to the left(or right if they’re a lefty)He looked barely 3 steps back.

First of all you need to spike that. Second of all that kicker locked tf in on such short notice, just a tad short. Poor guy

Lol I said that we needed to see another Jayden Daniels High IQ move
AND WE DID!!!!!!!!!!!!! YESSS COLUMBIA!!!!!

u/Reibyo Nebraska Cornhuskers 18h ago
I was literally reading a post about that game in the NFL sub lol
1
u/therealtoddmcshay California Golden Bears 18h ago
seriosuly don't get how people blame the coach.
If Jayden Daniels just throws it away like I am sure he has practiced a million times, they still get to kick a field goal
Not sure how hard it is to understand if the guy is wide open, throw it at him, if not, throw it above his head

They... they knew they coulda spiked the ball, right?

how good are ivy league kickers and how good are the QBs at bombing it to the endzone?
1
u/Skyrizzzi Georgia Bulldogs • 5-Star Recruit 18h ago
Does Penn have a bigger football following than Temple in Philly?
2
3
u/therealtoddmcshay California Golden Bears 18h ago
Damn, idk, maybe Columbia should have done more to try to get the first down by letting the QB choose because it is a 3 point game.
1
u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 18h ago
1 point game. It's ok though, we're not Ivy League flairs
2
u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 18h ago
Oh no no no you cannot do that in the middle of the field. Terrible playcall unless you're SURE it gets a first down
4
u/2Pollaski2Furious Washington Huskies • Apple Cup 18h ago
Is Penn cool enough to join the "give up a shitload of turnovers but still win" club?
The world waits.
2
u/Skyrizzzi Georgia Bulldogs • 5-Star Recruit 18h ago
Run the clock, don’t risk the clock stopping. big brain Ivy League play

Alrighty let’s see if teams who are +4 turnovers can win a game today
3
u/therealtoddmcshay California Golden Bears 18h ago
lol my guy, it is a change of possession. The clock will stop no matter what. You don't have to stay in
1
u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 18h ago
ANOTHER INTERCEPTION SPECIAL!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH TONIGHT????

I would have thought that Ivy League players would be a bit smarter, but just some terrible football IQ out there....
That WR not stopping earlier to draw a PI, that guy fair catching it at the 4, those Columbia players running into each other when it was obvious the UPenn guy was going to go outside(well the one guy that ran into his teammate), and columbia's players right there keeping the guy up right to let him pick up another 2-3 yards...
edit: THat guy picked it off and thought that he had to stay in bounds... It is a change of possession. The clock stops no matter if you stay inside or go out
1
u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 18h ago
Might as well get your one running play in right before the 2 minute timeout lol
3
u/Shoddy-Discount9814 Utah Utes • Big 8 18h ago
I know Ivy-league nerds probably don’t like football, but damn that bowl is empty
1
u/loyalsons4evertrue Iowa State Cyclones • Big 8 18h ago
It’s also a ginormous stadium by Ivy League standards
2
u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 18h ago
90 minute rain delay and then POURING rain during the game. I'm sure it wouldn't be packed regardless, but that certainly does not help.

Highly improbable
2
u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 18h ago
Pick six or scoop n score or something and then Penn scores with a 2 point conversion, trust

Apparently an Ivy League education isn't a prerequisite to coach an Ivy League team...
