News [Pete Thamel] Per sources, the amount Fox is expected to get back for the cancellation of the Big Ten title game, which it owns the television rights to, is estimated in the $50 million range annually.

Best we can do is one Jimbo and 3 Scott Frosts.

It is hilatious how this sub relentlessly deepthroated the Big Ten and cried “SEC bad”!- only for the Big Ten to pass a 24 team playoff over SEC objections I suppose you get what you wish for,   r/cfb 😂

This is even worse than the fact there’s going to be about 8-9 schools who are auto getting into the playoffs each year.

It’s a shame but I am kind of glad the play for nothing champ games are done.

I am patiently waiting for super league where there are most likely going to be divisions and divisional championships.

But in the current state they didn’t mean much which is a shame because I used to really like them

After last year, that's the one thing I'm happy about. It was clear with how big the conferences had gotten that conference championship games needed to go.

We need smaller conferences

Hear me out: 5 or 6 major conferences, 8-10 teams each. We could even group teams geographically to make travel efficient and promote regional rivalries.

Put down the cheese curds and Spotted cow. That’s some crazy talk.

Yeah, and we could name some of the conferences after the number of teams in them, and others after where they are.

And we could even have a Big one out in the East.

I still wonder about G6 schools though. For many of those leagues your league title is what you're playing for.

There would be the odd year where you might have to have a 2 vs 3 conference title game, but most years leagues like The MAC, CUSA, and Sun Belt aren't gonna get a playoff team so it'd be cool if they kept their games.

I agree with that. Also, they have few enough teams per conference where you can get a fair determination for the conference championship game slots.

Or Miami should’ve lost one less conference game that they should’ve won easily in the first place

Miami's not the only example. The SEC championship almost took a team out of the playoffs. When you have too many teams to have divisions, you have too many teams for a conference championship.
