Hey fox why not get all the g6 conference commissioners together and form their own playoff that you get exclusive rights too. Maybe it won’t generate as much $ but people would still watch it. I say 12-16 teams max. Play all but the semi finals and final at higher seeds stadium.

The NIT of CFB

Look either way my g6 team is never winning the natty in the nil era. Also, only one team will get in. At least nit still gets a championship, $ for winning and such. I’d rather go that route. The fans get more games to play at home and the level of competition is pretty even.

Fine… it would be more fun to watch competitive playoff games that are more evenly matched on both levels.

I agree with you there but what do you do with teams like Boise state or any team that could make the playoffs on their own merit, are they permanently relegated to the g6 playoffs or can they make the actual playoffs?

I don’t know especially now that it’ll be 24 team playoff. That is already so many more games you have to play. Originally I had the idea of the winner of g6 playoff gets the spot for the g6 in the 12 team playoff. But now that it is 24 teams I don’t know if that would still be manageable.

The g6 was already offered that and they declined

Really when was that offered? That makes me sad. It’s crazy because no g6 team will ever win in the 24 team playoff.

As a Tulsa fan you would rather watch your team hardly in the playoff then set up a playoff system that is better for you and the teams in your conference? I’m not saying hardly to be mean but more that g6 gets one spot… and even in a 24 team playoff they probably will still only get one spot. Maybe 2, if two teams in g6 have insane seasons that year. But probably still jsut one regularly.

I’d rather the playoff actually be like any other playoff and every conference champion gets an auto-bid like every other normal playoff in sports. Then sure give the other 14 at large spots to a bunch of SEC and Big 10 teams

The unfortunate truth is that if they were going to do something like that then it would still be more lucrative to just hand out bids to P4 teams that didn’t make the playoffs. More people are going to watch 8-4 Utah vs. 7-5 Auburn than 10-3 Western Michigan vs. 11-2 App State. If FOX were going to organize their own tournament then they’d just leave it open to all of the conferences and invite whichever teams would get the highest ratings.

The fcs playoff is super fun to watch. Good games and such. The level of competition is more evenly matched which helps. I just feel like the level of talent most g6 programs compared to p4 is pretty big. Now with the elimination of conference titles, which I do think is probably the right move a lot of g6 schools really don’t have much to play for because they still only get one spot and most of the time they will be passed over for a second spot in favor of 8-4 p4 like you said. At least have a secondary lower tier playoff like they do in college basketball still gives schools opportunities at a post season. I know they are going to supposedly keep bowl games but why not create a lower level playoff? But like you said it would probably jsut end up being more p4 schools. I hate the way college football is going and I hate that my team in a g6 school now.
