Arch’s trajectory has been two years coming. In the 2024 Playoffs Sark decided to roll with Quinn, who was playing pretty mediocre, instead of benching him for Arch. If he was the better player he would have taken the keys in the Playoffs in 2024. He didn’t.

I don't feel like Sark needs all the blame for this train wreck but obviously needs some.
No matter who the coach is there, it seems they are put through a meat grinder of bullshit.
Think about it. How much pressure is on him from outside to start "certain" players? He's pretty much at the mercy of the rich boosters paying these players before anyone even knows of they're worth a shit.
The one thing I will say about NS, he made it clear at UA he didn't give a shit about boosters or what they wanted. It could have bit him in the ass if he didn't take the team into the conference champ game undefeated on year two. But, he's built much different than pretty much anyone. He's doing it his way and will say bye to UA if that's not good enough. I can guarantee if he had another bad season after his first terrible season he would have been fired simply bc he pretty much made it aware he didn't care what those people wanted. He obviously was friendly and great dealing with them, but never gave a shit about what they wanted.
Sark and most other coaches, especially now, have to lick the booster nutsacks.

u/frankomapottery3 Oklahoma State • Minnesota 2h ago
So Strong wasn’t the answer, neither was Herman…. When is Sark being shown the door? He’s made FAAAAAR less progress than either of those two in his tenure
1
u/dfphd Texas Longhorns 24m ago
I mean, I'm definitely entertaining the idea we're gonna have to move on from him if shit doesn't get better, but what the fuck are you smoking? Sark is responsible for our only 2 trips to the playoffs ever.
Last season was a disappointment and yet better than the best season we had under Herman.
0
u/frankomapottery3 Oklahoma State • Minnesota 19m ago
“Trips to the playoffs” like it’s even been a thing in any legit form before he took over. Dohk
1
u/dfphd Texas Longhorns 16m ago
He made the 4-team playoff in year 3, beating Alabama on the road and only losing 1 game regular season game. That is the best season we had as a program since 2009.
You don't even need to worry about playoffs - we also hadn't finished in the top 5 since 2009. Our best finish with Herman was 9th in his second year, and that with 3 regular season losses. So again, Herman's best season was about on par with Sark's 3rd best season in 5 years.
1
u/hookem549 Texas Longhorns • Kansas Jayhawks 1h ago
That’s just not true. Sark has won 10+ games 3 out of 5 years, won the Big XII, made the SEC Championship, made the playoffs twice, and has won a few big games. Strong and Herman not so much. Sark doesn’t need to be fired but he sure as shit needs to give up play calling, and needs to clean house on some coaches.
Side note, I kind of wonder about the “mercenary” aspect of this team. With so many highly paid transfers they don’t have a lot of time playing together and I doubt the have the same love of the program that a player who has been here since they were a freshman does. I bet a lot of em just kinda quit now, shit Cam Coleman has been giving only 50% effort since week 1.

u/Advanced_Special Texas Longhorns 2h ago
Wrong. Sark started 5-7 at texas then went 8-5, 12-2, 13-3, and 10-3 last year. Two cfp final fours with Quinn, then ran him out of town to start bum ass Arch who hates to throw the hot route on a blitz and regularly throws his receivers out of the play on short routes. I think with a better than average passer this offense hums
12
u/jchen14 Florida Gators • Ohio State Buckeyes 2h ago
Has he? He's taken his team to 2 college football semi finals
2
u/Revolutionary-Big215 Texas Longhorns 2h ago
He also has unlimited NIL money. Basically starting on 3rd base when you compare coaches who actually do a lot more with less
3
u/Advanced_Special Texas Longhorns 2h ago
There's also coaches with similar NIL resources doing less with more, look at Oregon, USC, Michigan, Penn State. I'd still take Sark over their coaches. He's stuck with a not good qb with a royalty last name that can't run the offense
1
u/Mydogsblackasshole Oklahoma • Red River Shootout 28m ago

Has Sark ever developed a player at Texas? All his QBs are the same player they were when they arrived
1
u/hookem549 Texas Longhorns • Kansas Jayhawks 1h ago
Plenty of players have been developed under Sark, just not QBs.
9
u/Advanced_Special Texas Longhorns 2h ago
Nah Quinn got better, made the cfp final four twice. Arch's recruit rating out of high school was obviously bs speculation based on his athletic ability and last name, he does not have a qb brain
4
u/Bulldog5124 Alabama Crimson Tide 2h ago
Isaiah bond and Horton both got significantly worse at Texas actually
1
u/hookem549 Texas Longhorns • Kansas Jayhawks 1h ago
I’m beginning to really hate transfers, I think getting a player to come to you because of the money might not actually bring super competitive and hard working 20 year olds to you school.
1
u/Advanced_Special Texas Longhorns 2h ago
Horton never played for us. Bond was drafted 2nd round
1
u/Bulldog5124 Alabama Crimson Tide 2h ago
Ah sorry Horton went to TAMU, bond went undrafted though and has bareky done anything with the browns
1
u/Advanced_Special Texas Longhorns 2h ago
yeah, i was thinking of AD Mitchell. Also Horton has Reed throwing to him, and Cam has Arch, so ...
1
u/nusamusa03 Georgia Bulldogs 2h ago
Facts. Cam Coleman hasn’t looked great either
2
u/Advanced_Special Texas Longhorns 2h ago
Cuz Arch is always late on his throws, the announcers call it out every game. He just doesn't play on time

There was probably the most egregious uncalled holding penalty I have ever seen that allowed the Sips to get the touchdown near the end of the game. Even the cheating couldn't help them.

12
u/Sportzfanatic_001 Florida Gators 2h ago
So is Tramell Jones the new starter?
6
u/HurricaneIan25 Florida Gators 2h ago
He definitely adds a rushing element that Philo doesn’t. I see why they said the comp was close in the offseason.
3
u/Sportzfanatic_001 Florida Gators 2h ago
He stayed ready so he didn't have to get ready. A great sign in a QB if I say myself
6
u/DoggedDoggystyle Florida Gators 2h ago
Feels like you have to, no? But then again Sumrall decides to mention Philo for no reason in the postgame interview so who knows
1
u/Sportzfanatic_001 Florida Gators 2h ago
Right. It's going to be a interesting two weeks forsure heading into the the world's largest cocktail party. It gives Georgia a lot to think about. It will probably be a game time decision.

Lol at the commentators saying Oklahoma beat Texas twice because Texas was maybe not up for this game. How about holding Texas accountable and maybe they are just not as good as the rankings say they are. They never should have only dropped to 8 when they lost last week.

Sark took a #1 recruit in Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning and made them completely ordinary. He has not elevated them at all.
At what point do we point the finger at Sark and his staff?
2
u/themaster1006 Texas Longhorns • College Football Playoff 2h ago
Ewers was not the weak spot of that Texas team in his final year. He was really good.
5
u/GilgarTekmat Texas Longhorns • Texas State Bobcats 2h ago
Ewers was not ordinary, he was good. Arch is just terrible. I'm not even sure you can blame sark for Arch, not like he hasn't had the greatest personal training ever for a QB. If he doesn't get benched now though, that is a sark problem

It’s not a shitty insult when you also laid down a shitty insult. Most schools would sell their souls for a natty…. INCLUDING YOURS…. Which you’ve proven

It wasn’t even an insult I was just saying besides the success in 2009, 2023, and 2024 they’ve been overrated and mediocre every year. Plus idk why a OKST and Minnesota flair is trying to defend Texas so hard
