Game Thread [Game Thread] Mississippi State @ LSU (12:00 PM ET)

I told all of the LSU fans crying last week that it was a tough environment with tons of calls going Kentucky’s way and that we were still a great team

I remember during the Alabama game getting down voted for saying Mississippi State was way too high in the rankings and didn't know ball. Seems I apparently do know ball.
1
u/interested_commenter Oklahoma Sooners • LSU Tigers 2h ago
MSU missing their very good QB and RB.
I do think they were overrated, but this game.doesnt reflect how good they have been.
12
2
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
Get us in field goal range so we can at least get some points.
2
u/Quick-Expert-4608 Nebraska Cornhuskers 3h ago
So Mississippi state will fall out of the rankings this time, right?
4
u/jazzieberry Mississippi State • Delta State 3h ago
We won’t receive votes again until Kamario is healthy and wins a game, as deserved.
5
2
6
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
Buddy we aren’t even getting receiving votes. We may not win the rest of the season at this rate.
3
u/Zac-run Mississippi State Bulldogs • Sickos 3h ago
The only benefit from today is having Puckett get reps. That's valuable for his growth.
Anything else I am too in the dumps to think about? A renewed look at firing Lebby?
2
u/HeckOnWheels195 Mississippi State Bulldogs 3h ago
My only problem is that I don't know who we replace him with. If there was somebody like Stein at Kentucky who's dream job is MSU, it'll be hard to find someone that will come here who won't jet off when the big name calls
9
u/HoPMiX 3h ago
The Kentucky disrespect is hurting the conference. They beat # 9 Tamu away. No ranking. They beat SC on road and fallout of polls. They beat lsu. Lsu falls to 22 And are steamrolling 24 ranked MS ST by an ass whoopin mile. . Ain’t no fucking way there are 21 better teams than LSU. If Kentucky wins today without Baxter. My mind is set that the mis-ranking of Kentucky was a hit job on kiffen to keep them out of the playoff.
1
u/interested_commenter Oklahoma Sooners • LSU Tigers 2h ago
Vegas has Kentucky a 7 point dog against an unranked team today, so they think the AP has Kentucky OVER rated, not under.

Part of why I started following Premier League. 45+ mins of uninterrupted gameplay each half is great and most games are early Sat/Sun morning before football starts.
3
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
If we had kicked four field goals today it would be 31-12, or at least 31-15 if we had done it every drive we got down that way. It would have been respectable. But NOOOOOOOOOO Jeff Lebby wanted to be cute and keep going for it!!!
4
u/MoistyestBread LSU Tigers 3h ago
We had 99 rush yards before this drive. Leaving it with 90. You had one job boys.
3
u/Ok-Measurement1506 LSU Tigers • Alcorn State Braves 3h ago
We just need to get out of here with no more injuries.
4
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
I’m calling it now: we lose to OU, then Texas, then Auburn, then win against Tennessee Tech, and lose to Ole Miss to end the season.

4
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
WELCOME TO A SCORCHING HOT SEAT JEFF LEBBY

6
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me… WHY NOT TAKE THE FUCKING POINTS?!?!
9
u/ChocIceSorsby1 LSU Tigers • Minnesota Golden Gophers 3h ago
MSST could run the table the rest of the season and this coaching staff should still get fired
6
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
JUST TAKE THE POINTS MY FUCKING GOD. WE AREN’T WINNING, STOP GOING FOR IT ON FOURTH DOWN FOR FUCKS SAKE
8
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
Just take the fucking field goal so we don’t get shut out.
4
u/Ok-Measurement1506 LSU Tigers • Alcorn State Braves 3h ago
Yeah, why yall coach wheeling and dealing like the offense isn't limited today.
3
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
These announcers didn’t realize we really haven’t been ranked much the last five years.
6
u/flintlock0 Mississippi State • Delta State 3h ago
Somebody get a Ouija board out. Maybe Mike Leach has some advice for us.
3
6
u/holyd1ver83 LSU Tigers • Vanderbilt Commodores 3h ago
I realize MSST basically had an arm tied behind them for this game but I feel really good about this regardless, shows the season isn't over yet. And with Texas looking mortal we could escape this season with 2-3 losses
8
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
Well that was actually a pretty good throw.
7
u/RegardedAsAnArtist 3h ago
Who’s having the worse day: MSST fans or Longhorn fans?
14
u/Putrid-Hope2283 LSU Tigers 3h ago
Gotta be longhorns. Miss st fans had to have known it’d be tough sledding without Super Kamario.

1
u/Naive-Kangaroo3031 LSU Tigers • West Florida Argonauts 3h ago
State might have NIL money after all
4
u/Zac-run Mississippi State Bulldogs • Sickos 3h ago
It's the secret edam cheese cartel money.
1
u/flintlock0 Mississippi State • Delta State 3h ago
I love the Edam cheese. The jalapeño cheese and the cheddar cheese blocks are good, too.
Only other place that may rival us in cheese is Wisconsin, and we need a national championship game for cheese production.
2
u/HeckOnWheels195 Mississippi State Bulldogs 3h ago
I'm sure if we sold it nationwide we'd have Billions of NIL money
4
u/Team_player444 LSU Tigers • Team Chaos 3h ago
florida might actually beat Texas. the sec is so confusing
1
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
If we fire Lebby this season can we hire Sark lol
-2
u/KingOlaf222 3h ago
MSU is an enigma. How did they beat Mizzou and now look so bad? Obviously injuries dont help and LSU playing inspired, but look like a different team.
3
13
u/JoshHuff1332 LSU Tigers • ULM Warhawks 3h ago
At this point, I think you have UGA, Alabama, a nd a huge middle tier that are just super streaky and can have massive variance in results depending on the week.
2
u/flintlock0 Mississippi State • Delta State 3h ago
This is probably the best description I’ve seen. Conference be crazy.
5
u/bookmovietvworm Mississippi State • Tennessee 3h ago
Florida just scored again, texas might lose again
6
u/BlueDWarrior LSU Tigers • Southern Jaguars 3h ago
if Texas wasn't on fraud alert after last weeks mess at the end of the Red River [Shootout]; the klaxons are definitely going off now.
5
u/MLGLies Michigan Wolverines 3h ago

5

I mean, it was their first negative play for LSU
3
u/ten_tabs_ Wisconsin Badgers 3h ago
jesus christ I just saw the score, I guess LSU had some pent up energy after last week
8
8
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
State is down our two best offensive players (Kamario Taylor and Fluff Bothwell) and also are down a few of our good defensive players as well. We are ranked at 16th because we actually had some good wins up to this point, but got an injury bug at the worst possible time.
1
u/ten_tabs_ Wisconsin Badgers 3h ago
yeah I saw yall had some nice wins , hopefully the injury bug clears up before the egg bowl at least
1
u/flintlock0 Mississippi State • Delta State 3h ago
I’m so ready for Egg Bowl. I can dial back up to “GTHOM” and not be in this “Yeah. Fuck off, Lane Kiffin!” sympathetic stage I’ve been in lately. I was actually happy that Ole Miss beat LSU.
gag
1
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
The injury bug better clear up before next week because otherwise this season is a loss.
5
u/Naive-Kangaroo3031 LSU Tigers • West Florida Argonauts 3h ago
Now time for a 2nd string defense collapse
1
3
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
Holy fuck we forced a three and out??????
11
u/Ok-Measurement1506 LSU Tigers • Alcorn State Braves 3h ago
Why we running fancy plays up by 31 points?
3
2
u/Naive-Kangaroo3031 LSU Tigers • West Florida Argonauts 3h ago
How many times does a double reverse actually work in the SEC?
6
u/Fickle-Werewolf8298 LSU Tigers • Army Black Knights 3h ago
One comment I saw: “why the hell is LSU a 14 point favorite in this game.”
It wasn’t even the only comment like that. lol
3
2
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
I think that’s the first time we actually stopped them in the backfield today lol.
14
u/ChocolateBubbles344 LSU Tigers • Victory Flag 3h ago
I hate Florida, but them beating Texas would be very funny.
5
u/Putrid-Hope2283 LSU Tigers 3h ago
I live in Austin now so my hatred of UT may be slightly stronger at this point
2
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
First game this season Leavitt won’t throw a pick because our defense is horrendous. Just like how I expected it to go.
6
2
u/DiaDeLosMuebles LSU Tigers • College Football Playoff 3h ago
Getting shut out is a choice that MSU has made.
1
u/chemicalxv Manitoba • Notre Dame 3h ago
Mississippi State has 240 total yards of offense and 0 points in the 4 quarters since Kamario's last drive against Alabama, jesus
6
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
Jeff Lebby: football terrorist.
1
u/chemicalxv Manitoba • Notre Dame 3h ago
This team's gotta cap out at what, a 3-win team at most without Kamario?
4
u/Stutteringstew LSU Tigers 3h ago
Has either team punted today? This is crazy.
5
u/Ok-Measurement1506 LSU Tigers • Alcorn State Braves 3h ago
We might never punt again not going for it on 4th and 1 against Kentucky.
1
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
We’re about to get blown out, what a fucking disgrace. Jeff Lebby’s seat is going to be scorching hot after this game.
1
u/MakeStuffGoBoom Mississippi State • Tennessee 3h ago
No it won’t. While I’m not a Lebby fan, losing without K1 won’t increase the heat.
7
u/BlueDWarrior LSU Tigers • Southern Jaguars 3h ago
I appreciate the temerity to just say "Fuck it we ball", still not getting results though.
10
5
3
u/DrSealione LSU Tigers • Minnesota Golden Gophers 3h ago
All right, LSU can you please get one more fourth down stop?
7
u/oneevilchicken Mississippi State • Wake Forest 3h ago
Jeff Lebby is considered an offensive guru because his coaching is offensive to the game of football.
7
u/flintlock0 Mississippi State • Delta State 3h ago
It’s not your fault, Puckett. You were meant for shorter stints at QB, not entire games.
6
u/bookmovietvworm Mississippi State • Tennessee 3h ago
Also for his first start, he isnt playing half bad. Sure he has had some freshman mistakes but he has some solid number all things considered
3
u/Hewligan LSU Tigers • Southeastern Lions 3h ago
Jeff Lebby reminds me of Derek Dooley at Tennessee. I have no valid evidence on this take, but the vibe is there
4
4
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
Maybe Jeff Lebby should still be fired after this season, regardless of outcome…
1
u/ReachOwn1282 3h ago
He should be fired for bringing fucking Art Briles to our campus. Our douchebag AD can go with him. I mean, c'mon, Lebby is not even a Dollar General version of the Pirate.
0
u/jazzieberry Mississippi State • Delta State 3h ago
That’s what people have been saying…. (By people I mean me lol)

1
u/redpowah LSU Tigers • Paper Bag 3h ago
Moscona said that its "not thought to be serious". With this being an early day game, theres more time to rest it if its a low grade sprain and be somewhat Probable for Auburn next weekend.
With the following weekend a Bye, he should be back for Bama

6
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
This game has shown me that Jeff Lebby’s seat is still incredibly warm this season.
2
u/DrSealione LSU Tigers • Minnesota Golden Gophers 3h ago
I think incredibly warm is an understatement
2
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he still is fired after this season.
5
u/bookmovietvworm Mississippi State • Tennessee 3h ago
Hey he can run, which makes him better than shapen already lol
6
u/doorman8123 3h ago
lsu's offense succeeds on 49.6% of its plays this year and today it's been way better than that. 31 to 0 going into the 4th and msu's d has no answer
6
u/flintlock0 Mississippi State • Delta State 3h ago
Sure. I may be expecting too much from Jeff “I am a really bad coach. Probably a bad person, in general. Please fire and replace me with the closest thing to Mike Leach. Oh god I really miss Mike” Lebby.
But I did not expect the team to collapse without Kamario. This has been awful. I’ll throw ten dollars at any fund that’s dedicated to finding a functional head coach.
6
u/BlueDWarrior LSU Tigers • Southern Jaguars 3h ago
How the fuck does Texas have less than 200 yds against THAT U FL defense?

Let's be real. No home crowd would be different.
10
u/ChocolateBubbles344 LSU Tigers • Victory Flag 3h ago
This game reminds me of that South Carolina game from like a decade ago that got moved to BR at the 11th hour because of a hurricane. The other team is at such a disadvantage from things outside of their control that it's hard to puff your chest much.
2
u/Throwaway12746637 LSU Tigers 3h ago
2017 I think. Wasn't there a big stink about that game?
2
u/Putrid-Hope2283 LSU Tigers 3h ago
Not a stink, but moved to lsu at last minute because of the hurricanes hitting sc
9
u/ScallywagBeowulf Mississippi State • Marching Band 3h ago
The fact Florida is tied with Texas and we’re getting blown out (and Leavitt only has six incompletions the entire game) is horrendous. This game may break any momentum we had for the rest of the season if we don’t bounce back next week.

I know we're missing key players but it's a joke they kept us ranked after getting smushed by Alabama

Its actually a ploy by Big Cajun to get LSU to rise higher in the polls after such a thorough beating of a "superior" team

Really liking how Sam has stayed calm (mostly) under pressure lately

we lost like 3 or 4 more good players this game. The season technically isn't dead but im not optimistic
4

Leavitt knows he's about to get busted in the mouth, and still puts that throw where its supposed to be.
Even if I had the physical talent, I'm not sure I would have had the nerve to be a high-level QB.

College football discourse on social media is reaching NBA levels of insufferability. It’s too much box score watching and saying “hOw baD iS tHiS tEAm aCtuALly???” for every team every time they play a bad game or even a bad half of football. There are much more interesting ways to discuss sports but unfortunately we live in a time of over-reactionary hot takes.
1
u/taylormadeone LSU Tigers 3h ago
You get more engagement by saying shitty hot takes rather than nuanced discussion.

I mean this with complete sincerity, because I was in your boat after the Ole Miss loss.
I completely shut off all CFB social media for a week until the next Saturday. The impact it had on my mental health was physically noticeable. Didn’t have a usual migraine, was less tired, GF said I was in a better mood.
Just get away from it for awhile.
1
u/HeckOnWheels195 Mississippi State Bulldogs 3h ago
At this point maybe we should just fire our S&C coach. Or just find out a way to not get injured

LSU is absolutely scoring on this drive and that kills any chance we have of scoring the rest of the game. We better hope and pray we can bounce back against OU next week.
