General Discussion/Conversation New SHOCKING rules to retain Infinia card

Post image

HDFC just sent an email to all Infinia cardholders, announcing that you need to maintain a minimum annual spend of Rs. 18 lakhs to continue holding the card!

This completely changes the game for Infinia.

There are better cards, Infinia has a 10L spend waiver for fees, there are no milestones on it unlike DCBM or other cards, so there is not any reason to spend more on this.

You can still use it for SmartBuy spends, but base reward isn't anything mind-blowing, it is just decent.

3.3% is the absolute best base reward in India and likely in the world.

There were cards with 2% base reward rate (Axis Ace), which gave direct cashback instead of travel points, that is comparable.

There are prepaid cards giving similar value, I have a GoSats elite card, which gives 2% in bitcoin or gold back, nowadays they have kept it as 3% every month, so yeah.

There are definitely also cards which give more than 3% as base rewards.

Atlas is a much better card if you are into miles & stuff, can get a lot more than 3.3% as base reward. There is also Magnus, so I am not sure what you are trying to say.

2% id better than 3.3%? Which cards have a higher base reward rate? Nothing comes close to the Infinia.

Please read, I already gave 2 or 3 cards, Atlas, Magnus, Magnus for Burgundy etc do give better rewards if you're into miles, HDFC has kinda stepped away from the miles game.

When you compare 2% of cashback to 3.3% in travel rewards, the difference is marginal, and it isn't an apples to apples comparison, so 2% should trump the 3.3% in cashback, to be honest.

Axis Olympus is a pretty good card too in miles and points regard, there are many premium cards having similar reward rate, so let's not act like Infinia was the only one with 3% base reward.

Explain how. I have Atlas as well. It's base reward is 2%.

2 EM per INR 100 spends = 4 INR minimum if transferred to any partner and 8 INR to Accor. Each EM is worth a minimum of INR 2. You can get upto INR 4 per EM easily.

So that is 4-8% return without milestones

If you include milestones, the return is +50% so it's 6-12%

Nothing is worth 2 INR. The reward rate is at max 4% in some miles programme and that is way inferior to Infinia where you get 3.3%.

Man, you absolutely suck at using your credit cards if you can't even extract 6% from your Atlas. This is the BARE MINIMUM.

We are talking about base reward rate.
