They literally brought down a building in the middle of New York. It's crazy how they're just handwaving that shit off.

The implication I got was probably that a lot of higher ups were involved with the Hand in some capacity so after the Hand was destroyed they would rather just sweep everything under the rug. A trial could might only bring to light how deep the Hands connections went.

I like your explanation (and I think a better explanation is needed), but I'm not sure I heard or saw anything in the show that leads to this conclusion. Maybe I missed it.

Also got to think of the fbi guys who allowed Foggy to carry a huge duffel bag into the station without checking it, let 3 suspects escape and let Coleen steal a whole crates worth of c4 directly under their noses.

This explanation works, especially when we think back to Alexandra (or the other fingers admitting that Alexandra) had lots of connections to keep the organization secret for so long.

yeah presumably Trish's boss has connections to the hand so it would seem the Hand is still out there.

Eh it's fine.. The story is illegal construction. City demolished the building for safety.

It's crazy how they handwaved Cersei blowing up a major building in King's Landing as well.

I don't watch GOT so I'm not aware of the context of the moment you're referring to. But given the historical context of having a building brought down in New York and the in-universe context of the city being ground zero for an alien invasion which destroyed a lot of buildings, it's weird that they're handwaving this whole thing off.

it bothers me that they destroyed a building in the first place. thats all invested money going down the drain. but it did end up saving the city...

Why was it necessary to destroy the building? I didn't get that.

To plug the hole down there. Which cuts off the source of the substance, so the Hand couldn't get it anymore.

Couldn't they just dig another hole?

No, the whole point of acquiring Midland Circle (construction site) in Daredevil was so that they could use it as a cover to dig the hole.

Even the hand can't just go around digging wherever they want, they caused an earthquake just by digging that one hole and I imagine that hole was the only way to access the door without collapsing the whole structure and taking down Manhattan with it.

Why not buy a place somewhere a little further away, dig down from there and then dig across?

They needed Midway as a face for all their illegal operations, but I guess your point stands...

I mean it would be pretty obvius if another hole appears...

1

u/MY-SECRET-REDDIT Aug 19 '17

To plug the whole down there.

did they know that though? dont remember that being mentioned.

1

u/toxicbrew Aug 20 '17

yeah the reason for the earthquake was never mentioned actually

and Trish Talk didn't even mention the building collapse, just 'tremors'
