Play Calling Copium Take
This super conservative play calling and constant checkdowns so far has been to minimise risk against top 10 defences while Bo regains he confidence. Sean knows how reliable the defence is and is more than happy to lean on them to win ugly games against super bowl contenders.
With the schedule moving forward, I expect the playbook to open up, and Bo being told to take more risks. We'll see Bo from last season soon.
I've got nothing for our run game tho. Feels like our O-Line and RB coaches need to be scrutinized more.

Shannon Sharpe’s comments on Bo Nix’s struggles
Agree or Disagree with Shannon? As some have said in previous games in which i absolutely agree with, Bo Nix has continued to play himself out of a big contract. Poor reads, overly conservative, evades good pockets too early, doesn’t attack defenses vertically and just settles for flat check downs, etc. That’s the obvious of course….He’s 4-2 which is what I’m absolutely willing to live with considering this gauntlet, but that’s largely because he’s been writing checks that only Vance Joseph has cashed in on. You can only hope that he find his identity again at some point.

[Doug Clawson on X] There are 701 qualified QB seasons through 6 games in the past 20 years 2026 Bo Nix ranks 701st out of 701 in average pass length (4.9 air yards per attempt) His avg pass was thrown behind the line of scrimmage in the 2nd half on Thursday

[Jenkins] Fitzpatrick RIPPED Bo Nix… Here’s What He Missed
I've not had a chance to watch it yet, but posting to share. Tim was ripping into and making fun of all the hot takes from last night. Should be interesting to watch.
Film shows things are never as bad or as good as they seem.

Can't find anything about Jonah Elliss? I hope bro is ok, he was ballin.
Been looking for updates after he limped off last night?
What a hero to hop off one legged to save a TO too. But is he ok? He was really starting to shine during the Seahawks game and seems like he's going to be a big part of the defense going forward?

The biggest positive so far
I will say with the game Thursday we were finally able to prove we have the best DB room in the league. To have our 3rd and 4th string CBs start and another backup at Saftey, I will say we did great on covering. I really am going to be sad when we can't keep these pieces. If Denver can draft it's DB and Pass rushers.

Hot take tell me if I'm wrong
I think even with Riley Moss coming back from injury.. we need to give Jahdae Barron some of Moss's reps. He is way more physical. A way better tackler. And seems to do just as well in coverage without the penalties that moss draws. Also, if Jahdae can be an equal or better than replacement, we won't need to pay Riley next year and can save that cap space for other holes we need to fill. Tell me if I'm crazy.... I won't mind but I really feel like Jahdae has showed out these last few games and has earned more reps.

My evidently unpopular opinion
I do NOT understand all of this chicken little panic with Bo. Let me give some facts and hopefully youre on the same page after reading this.
In his first two NFL seasons, he threw for 7,706 yards, 54 touchdowns, and just 23 interceptions, while adding another 786 rushing yards and 9 rushing touchdowns. That's 63 total touchdowns in 34 regular-season games. Now, six games into 2026, he's added another 1,049 passing yards and 7 total touchdowns. Last night he only threw for 107 yards, but Denver still won 17-14.
When we needed 30 points against the Rams, he accounted for 3 touchdowns and we won 30-26. When we needed 288 passing yards against Jacksonville, he delivered and we won. He's now 4-2 this season and an incredible 13-3 in games where he averages fewer than 6 yards per pass attempt.
Does he need to improve? Absolutely. But the guy has already accounted for 70 touchdowns in 40 regular-season games. Not every win requires 300 yards and 3 touchdowns. Sometimes you need 30 points, sometimes you need 17. The objective is to win football games, not fantasy football championships... if fantasy is what you want, maybe this team isnt for you.
I was HOPING we ended this gauntlet at 3-3. Without pat surtain, Huf and Coleman who i think is our best running back we got out of that at 4-2?! Hell, I just put another 100 on us to win it all. Guys, who will we be facing in the afc championship? Good chance its the jags, bills or chiefs. We beat one of them already. Who would we be facing in the superbowl? 9'ers, rams or seahawks? We just beat 2 of them and damn near beat the 9'ers too.
EDIT: I wanted to add some more facts for the haters.
Opposing offenses and what they've averaged against the same opponents :
Chiefs 10 22.3 -12.3 Jaguars 20 12.5 +7.5 Rams 30 17.5 +12.5 49ers 14 19.8 -5.8 Chargers 23 26.5 -3.5 Seahawks 17 21.0 -4.0 Average 19.0 19.9 -0.9
So yeah, we're underperforming the nfl average against these teams by .9 points. Everyone is freaking out about .9 points on a Friday morning lol.

Defensive workload
A few numbers on the defense...
Thru 6 games the defense is on pace to play 1173 snaps this season.
Last season, the highest number of defensive snaps taken by any team played was 1114 (IND).
League average defensive snaps per game last year was 61.8. This year league average defensive snaps per game is 62.
DEN is on pace to play the equivalent 18.9 games relative to the average defense (119 more snaps).

Sean Payton Outcoached Mike Macdonald with a Perfect Game Plan
Sean Payton proved to the world he still has it.
After taking over play-calling last week and the offense laying an egg. he took it to the Seahawks and Mike Macdonald.
It was a perfect offensive game plan, even if the offense couldn't do anything in the second half.
The Broncos improved to 4-2.

We really need to keep JaQuan over Riley
Don't get me wrong I love Riley and think he is a good player but JaQuan is a game changer. He just disrupts so many things with TFLs on screens, sacks and of course the interceptions. I think 90% (or better) of Riley's production could be duplicated by KAD and Jahdae as shown by their performances the last few weeks. I don't think anyone on the roster can duplicate what JaQuan is doing and has done throughout the course of his career
I wish we could keep both and I love our depth but thats just not sustainable with a salary cap. Good teams replace production with the young guys and with Paton's drafting we have replacements waiting in the wings.
Thoughts?

Bo has faced some tough passing defenses
I’ve been real on and off about Bo lately, but looking at the schedule made me pause.
Through Week 5 (before Thursday’s game), the pass defenses Nix had faced ranked:
• Seahawks: 1st (150.8 yards/game)
• Rams: 2nd (156.8)
• Chargers: 6th (193.0)
• 49ers: 8th (199.6)
• Chiefs: 19th (225.0)
• Jaguars: ~30th (266.2)
His best game was against the Jags, and he also had a solid second-half stretch against the Rams. Against the others (4/5 top-10 or better units against the pass) the offense has mostly
been short, and inefficient.
Do you guys see this as a real problem that Bo can’t move the ball against top defenses or do you see it more as a tough schedule and the offense just needing more time to click?

I hope Nix turns it around, because right now he's ranked behind Cam Ward in QBR
QBR is a flawed stat sure. That said, it is pretty shocking to see Nix ranked #28 among 30 qualifying QBs, behind #26 Cam Ward.
If Nix is hurt or has the mental yips or whatever it is, I hope he figures it out, because we are on borrowed time if we expect the defense to win us every game.
