Bipartisan coalition including the North Flint Neighborhood Action Council and the Flint & Genesee Chamber urging everyone to Vote NO on Proposal 1
The first proposal on your ballot this year asks if you want to hold a Constitutional Convention (Con-Con). This comes up automatically every 16 years, and if you're not familiar with the issue it's something I'd like to share more information about.
In a press conference held at the Flint Farmer’s Market earlier this month, officials from the Michigan Community College Association (MCCA), North Flint Neighborhood Action Council, Flint & Genesee Chamber, the Greater Flint AFL-CIO Labor Council, the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, and the Michigan Education Association gathered to urge Flint residents to VOTE NO on Proposal 1 in November.
A Con-Con could endanger all of the hard-won changes we’ve made to the constitution over the years, and even remove our right to make those changes to the constitution. It would be an expensive, lengthy process that’s estimated to cost at least $80M in taxpayer dollars.
It’s pretty amazing to see the bipartisan group of organizations who all agree that this is a bad idea. We don’t agree on a lot of things, but this is definitely one of them.
Curious what this community thinks.
Are you planning to vote no on proposal 1?
