I was following this cute fan's story of catching Janet Jackson's towel during Singapore's F1 Grand Prix performance. He was trying to get Janet Jackson to do the heart shape 🫶, so he recorded using both the front and back cameras. Then out of nowhere, Janet threw him a towel hahaha.

I'm glad at least the towel went to a die-hard and not to some random concert goer. From his other reels, he printed cards to flip during different songs, so I guess Janet and her team might have noticed his efforts. Some of the cards had diamond graphics, possibly a nod to the original Black Diamond era, with messages like “Welcome back, Damita Jo!”, “Hey, you guys!” and “SG MYM!” (Singapore Miss You Much).

He was also asking around online to see if anyone had filmed Runaway, especially the part where Janet threw him the towel since his both attempts of recording failed to capture. Probably hoping someone from behind had caught it on camera. Little did he know, an official photographer had captured the moment!

I'm so happy with my current collection of her albums! And a few 12" singles mixed in. I had an opportunity to get a "When I Think Of You" 12" but I passed on it. Kinda regretting it!

I also have Rhythm Nation on cassette, randomly haha.

Moist is such an elegantly sensual song! It along with Warmth are some of Janet’s sexiest songs of Damita Jo and her catalog as a whole so far! I remember listening to this album on repeat and writing down all of the lyrics in a notebook. I used to be irritated at how the CD booklets would get some of the words wrong so I always listened for myself lol. Anywho, such a genius song! 🌊

The Hip-Hop pioneer has been announced as the recipient of the prestigious Icon Award at the 2026 ‘Gala of the Stars,’ benefiting Dancers Against Cancer.

And the celebration promises to be a star-studded affair.

Set to take place on October 22 at The Beverly Hilton, the ceremony will see Jackson present her friend and collaborator Missy with the honor in recognition of her groundbreaking contributions to music, dance, and entertainment.

It’s a fitting full-circle moment, as Janet herself received the Icon Award at last year’s gala.

The pair’s history runs deep, from their collaboration on ‘BURNITUP!’ to their memorable joint performance on the ‘State of the World Tour.’

Missy’s latest accolade adds to a historic collection that includes her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and her MTV Video Vanguard Award.

Also being celebrated on the night are choreography legends Toni Basil and Vincent Paterson, while Paula Abdul will return as a presenter.

Hosted by Maksim Chmerkovskiy, the gala will raise funds for dancers, choreographers, and their families affected by cancer.

I know she’s performing the whole album but that’s only 40 minutes or so which leaves a lot of time for more songs… that and the tease she gave in Singapore is giving me some hope 😭😭😭

I would let say I wasn’t a fan when unbreakable was released but I don’t really remember it in the cultural zeitgeist.

It got #1 in the US but it didn’t really stick around on the 200 charts for very long. I’m just trying to remember that era from her as it is the most recent from her and I don’t remember really anything about it.

Just under an hour, Janet Jackson performed a total of 23 songs. During her closing speech after Together Again, Janet thanked the crowd and hoped that they enjoyed her 'little show'. That is how humble Janet Jackson is. Thank you to whoever who engaged Janet Jackson to perform in Singapore once again! 🫶

I must say that this concert held during the Singapore F1 Grand Prix was very intimate for her fans. Despite having the smaller stage (Wharf Stage, rough capacity: 10K to 15K people), her set was anytime better than Lana Del Rey's as I noticed many left after Lana performed Young And Beautiful and Video Games. Lana Del Rey had the larger and bigger area (Padang Stage, rough capacity: 50K to 65K people). Lana's set was the later timing (10:25pm - 11:55pm) and had been branded as the closing act located in Zone 4. Janet Jackson's set was from 6:15pm - 7:15pm, probably so as not to clash with the F1 night race at 8pm - 10pm. Lana's was available for most to watch (Zone 4) while Janet Jackson's area costed a premium (Zone 1).

This concert was super unique for fans because this being a first-come-first-serve basis, those who occupied the front row were mostly the die-hards (aside from those who squeezed to the front). You see young and old, be it dressed in Janet tee or hat. They were there. Unlike concerts, front rows are usually sponsored for influencers or VIPs, not real Janet fans who knows all the lyrics.
