Resources Many Israelis and Palestinians Say They Cannot Coexist Peacefully
Almost three years after the start of the Israel-Hamas war, Israelis and Palestinians are pessimistic about the prospect of peaceful coexistence between them.
In a Pew Research Center survey conducted this spring, we asked Israelis and Palestinians in Israel and the West Bank and East Jerusalem, respectively, whether a way can be found for Israel and an independent Palestinian state to coexist peacefully with each other.
Only about one-in-five Israelis (17%) and Palestinians (21%) say Israel and a Palestinian state could exist together in peace. Majorities in both places – 56% in Israel and 68% in the West Bank and East Jerusalem – don’t think a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is possible.
We then asked them to explain, in their own words, why they answered the way they did.
Among the relatively few Israelis and Palestinians who said peaceful coexistence is possible:
Some express a personal interest in peace or say people on both sides want peace.
Others see peace between Israel and an independent Palestinian state as the inevitable conclusion to their conflict.
A few argue that a diplomatic two-state solution is preferable to a single state for both peoples. Some say peace is achievable under certain conditions, such as rebuilding trust, making concessions or mustering the political will to come to an agreement.
Among the majorities of Israelis and Palestinians who say peace between Israel and an independent Palestinian state is not possible:
Some say the conflict between them is intractable because they are fighting over land they believe cannot (or should not) be divided, and their religious and cultural differences position them as eternal enemies.
Many talk about the violence between them, both historical and more recent, expressing fear and distrust.
Israelis explain that an independent Palestinian state would pose an existential threat to Israel and its people, while Palestinians see the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem as the biggest obstacle to peace between them. Smaller shares blame their leaders or say there is no partner for peace because the other side does not want peace.
The survey took place in the spring of 2026, during the Iran war. Fieldwork began while hostilities were ongoing and continued after the declaration of an initial ceasefire on April 7.
In Israel, we surveyed 1,001 people from April 5 to May 6. In the West Bank and East Jerusalem, we surveyed 1,038 people from March 30 to April 28. We were not able to survey in Gaza in 2026.
Many Israelis and Palestinians Say They Cannot Coexist Peacefully – and Explain Why

Resources The most succinct and clear argument that Israel is an apartheid, from Tamir Pardo, former head of the Mossad, appointed by Bibi Netanyahu.
September 6, 2023. Exactly 3 years ago to the day.
“There is an apartheid state here,” Pardo said in an interview with the Associated Press news agency, published on Wednesday.
“In a territory where two people are judged under two legal systems, that is an apartheid state,” Pardo said, joining a small but growing list of retired officials to endorse an idea that remains largely on the fringes of Israeli discourse and international diplomacy but has gained growing acceptance within human rights circles.
In apartheid South Africa, a system based on white supremacy and racial segregation was in place from 1948 until 1994. Human rights groups have based their conclusions on Israel on international conventions like the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. It defines apartheid as “an institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by one racial group over any other racial group.”
Pardo said Israeli citizens can get into a car and drive wherever they want, excluding the blockaded Gaza Strip, but that Palestinians can’t drive everywhere. He said that his views on the system in the West Bank were “not extreme. It’s a fact.
He also warned that what has been described as Israel’s “forever occupation” threatens its existence as a Jewish state. “Israel needs to decide what it wants,” he said. “A country that has no border has no boundaries.”
Pardo is among the highest ranking former officials to draw the once taboo parallel with the old South Africa. Israel’s former attorney general, Michael Ben-Yair, said last year “that my country has sunk to such political and moral depths that it is now an apartheid regime”.
The former speaker of the Israeli parliament, Avraham Burg, and the renowned Israeli historian, Benny Morris, are among more than 2,000 Israeli and American public figures who have signed a recent public statement declaring that “Palestinians live under a regime of apartheid”.
The open letter calls on US Jewish groups to speak out against the occupation of the Palestinian territories as “the elephant in the room” in the mass Israeli protests against Netanyahu’s deeply divisive judicial reforms which, it said, are intended to “annex more land, and ethnically cleanse all territories under Israeli rule of their Palestinian population”.
Prominent foreign officials have also invoked apartheid to described the situation in the occupied territories.
Earlier this year, the former Irish president Mary Robinson and the former UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon – representatives of The Elders group of global leaders founded by Nelson Mandela in 2007 – spoke about the “ever-growing evidence that the situation meets the international legal definition of apartheid” after visiting the West Bank.
Israelis are barred from entering Palestinian areas of the West Bank, but can drive across Israel and throughout the 60% of the West Bank that Israel controls. Palestinians need permission from Israel to enter the country and often must pass through military checkpoints to move within the West Bank.
Rights groups point to discriminatory policies within Israel and in annexed east Jerusalem, Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip, which has been ruled by the Hamas militant group since 2007, and its occupation of the West Bank. Israel exerts overall control of the territory, maintains a two-tier legal system and is building and expanding Jewish settlements that most of the international community considers illegal.

Resources I'm looking for a compilation of evidence of actual cases of anti-Zionism motivated by racism against Jews
Coordinator at the ODSI here. As those of you who are acquainted with our work know, we don't view the establishment of a so-called Jewish state in Palestine as separate from the weaponization of identity worldwide.
So we're aware that Zionism accuses all anti-Zionists of antisemitism, but we're also aware that there are actual racists and fascists who oppose the existence of Israel because they hate Jews—i.e. some people who, like Zionism, conflate Jews with Israel.
However, many of those we deal with don't recognize this, ostensibly for fear of recognizing that there is an element of truth to Zionism's claim. So evidence of such cases would be helpful. This made me think I would ask on this sub in case someone here has already done the work or knows of such compilations.
To digress: This is a reason why we need to clarify we don't just oppose the existence of a Jewish state but support the establishment of a democratic one, with equal rights for all and privileges for none. Clearly distantiate ourselves form fascists and racists, go where they can't follow.

Resources What Are They Talking About?
Sorry to be lazy, but I truly don’t understand what they’re talking about or why there’s a map of ethnic areas? Everyone knows NYC was pretty much built on the backs of these three communities (and their gangs!) so I don’t see how they’re omitted from anything? I also ask here because I’m sure this is somehow Zionist due to who I’ve seen liking it. 👀

Resources Where do Progressive/Modernist Antizionist Rabbis get a Semikhah?
Was talking to someone in Europe about becoming a rabbi. Looking at non orthodox Rabbinical programs, there aren’t many options. There is the Heschel program in Potsdam, Germany and the Seninario has opened the Abarbanel program in Madrid. And, they are both associated with the Masorti Olami movement which is super super Zionist. Like, recite the V'al Hanissim on Israel Independence Day level of Zionist.
And well, with the exception of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College (RRC) in Wyncote, Pennsylvania; I can’t think of any other antizionist Seminary program.
For all the posts of people trying to convert or find a minyan, we know there is a severe lack of Antizionist Rabbis. Is there really only one progressive antizionist Rabbinical program on the planet? I know there are antizionist students at JTS and HUC who straddle in a bit of an “open closet”; where we all wink and nod. Not that different from the Gay orthodox students in closet at Yeshivat Chovevei Torah in Riverdale.
But institutionally anti-Zionist, is there any other Rabbinical program?

Resources Anti-Zionist Cafes/Markets/Kosher scene in Boston
Hi there. I am not Jewish, but a good friend of mine from my school days in Europe converted a couple of years ago and he would like to visit me in the Boston area to explore the local Kosher scene. I, myself, am very pro-Palestinian and would like to support his adventure while trying to avoid explicitly Zionist establishments in Boston (of which I’m aware there are a few). Does anyone have recommendations for Anti-Zionist cafes, delis, markets or other Jewish spaces in the Boston area? Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Resources Looking for non-biased resources for Torah study
Hi all! I'm researching next week's parshah and feeling very frustrated by sites like myjewishlearning and chabad. It's hard to find any other resources with Torah commentary, but these two sites are so biased and rooted in modern nationalism, they feel completely disconnected from the Torah itself. Does anyone have any resources they can recommend?
Edit: Sefaria has been a great resource for me, but I'm on the lookout for more alternatives so I don't rely on just one source :)

Resources Anti-Zionist Jewish shops in London?
Hi, I hope I've chosen the right flair for this. I'll be in London for a short trip the coming week, and I was wondering if someone could recommend any anti-Zionist Jewish shops (if they exist, of course)? If not, I'd be interested in anti-Zionist synagogues as well.
Thank you in advance.

Resources Feel like an idiot
As a fairly young person from the Baltics who’s been living under a rock for a while (mostly dealing with mental health issues after an abusive childhood, along with moving to a different country), I hope someone can point me to some “introductory” material on how all of this started, as well as some generally reliable sources of everyday news, if possible
Somehow the Chabad-run Jewish Sunday school (and dozen+ summer camps I’ve gone to) never touched on the topic…

Resources Israeli Genocide References
Hi all. I came across this in another thread discussing the arrests of Hannah Einbender, Susan Sarandon et al, and I think it's a good sheet of references to bring out whenever someone asserts that what Israel is perpetrating isn't a genocide.
I bring this here in the hope that it helps the community.
Who says Israel is committing a genocide?
Organizations
UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory — a body established by the UN Human Rights Council to investigate human rights violations in the region. In September 2025 it published a 72-page legal analysis concluding Israel is failing to prevent, and is actively committing, genocide against Palestinians. Source 1 Source 2
UN Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices — established by the UN General Assembly in 1968 to monitor Israeli conduct in the occupied Palestinian and other Arab territories. In November 2024 it found Israel's warfare in Gaza "consistent with the characteristics of genocide," citing mass civilian casualties and the use of starvation as a method of war. Source
Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur — an independent expert appointed by the Human Rights Council. Her March 2024 report, "Anatomy of a Genocide," concluded there are "reasonable grounds to believe" the legal threshold for genocide has been met". She followed this with a further October 2025 report, "Gaza Genocide: a collective crime," extending the analysis to third-state complicity. Source 1 Source 2
Amnesty International — one of the world's largest human rights organizations. In December 2024 it published a 296-page report, "You Feel Like You Are Subhuman," concluding Israel has committed and continues to commit acts prohibited under the Genocide Convention with specific intent to destroy Palestinians in Gaza. Source
Human Rights Watch — a major international human rights monitoring organization. Its December 2024 report concluded that Israel's deliberate deprivation of water to Gaza's population constitutes "acts of genocide" under the Genocide Convention, alongside the separate crime against humanity of extermination. Source
Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) — the international medical humanitarian organization. Its Secretary General, Christopher Lockyear, stated that what its medical teams witnessed in Gaza is "consistent with the description of legal experts and organizations concluding that genocide is taking place." Source
B'Tselem — the largest Israeli human rights organization, which has documenting conditions in the occupied territories since 1989. Its July 2025 report, "Our Genocide," concluded unequivocally that Israel is taking coordinated action to intentionally destroy Palestinian society in Gaza. Source
Physicians for Human Rights Israel — an Israeli medical human rights organization. Published a parallel July 2025 medical-legal analysis concluding that Israel's systematic destruction of Gaza's healthcare system amounts to genocide. Source
Al-Haq — a Palestinian human rights organization based in Ramallah, founded in 1979. Has published multiple reports since 2023 explicitly using genocide framing, including a 2024/2025 report on the "systematic destruction" of Gaza's healthcare system as "a pattern of genocide," and delivered formal statements to the UN Human Rights Council. Source 1 Source 2
Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor — a Geneva-based human rights organization. Called on the UN Secretary-General to formally recognize Israel's actions as genocide as early as November 2023, and has continued reporting under that framing, including a one-year retrospective, "De-Gaza: A Year of Israel's Genocide and the Collapse of World Order" (October 2024). Source
Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention — an organization named after Raphael Lemkin, the jurist who coined the term "genocide" and drafted the 1948 Convention. Has issued numerous statements since October 2023 declaring Israel is committing genocide, and in September 2025 welcomed the UN Commission of Inquiry's findings as confirming its earlier assessments. Source
Genocide Watch — an organization founded to predict, prevent, and document genocide worldwide, has issued a "Genocide Warning" for what is happening in Gaza. Source 1 Source 2
International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) — the world's largest professional body of genocide scholars (~500 members, founded 1994). In August 2025 it passed a resolution, with 86% of voting members in favor, stating Israel's policies and actions in Gaza meet the legal definition of genocide under the 1948 Convention. Source
University Network for Human Rights — a consortium of human rights law clinics, working with Boston University, Cornell, Yale (Lowenstein Human Rights Project), and the University of Pretoria. Published a 100+ page legal analysis in May 2024, "Genocide in Gaza," concluding Israel's actions violate the Genocide Convention. Source
Forensic Architecture — a research agency at Goldsmiths, University of London, that uses spatial and data analysis for legal and human rights investigations. Its 826-page 2024 report, "A Cartography of Genocide,"describing it as a genocide. Source
Individual Scholars
Professor Omer Bartov — an Israeli-American professor of Holocaust and genocide studies at Brown University, described by the US Holocaust Memorial Museum as one of the world's leading specialists on genocide. Initially held back from the label in late 2023, but by mid-2024/2025 reached what he called an "inescapable conclusion" that Israel is committing genocide. Source
Professor Melanie O'Brien — President of the IAGS (2021–2025) and associate professor of international law at the University of Western Australia. Stated the IAGS resolution was "a definitive statement from experts in the field of genocide studies." Source
Professor Raz Segal — an Israeli scholar of Holocaust and genocide studies at Stockton University. One of the earliest academics to use the label, calling the assault "a textbook case of genocide unfolding in front of our eyes" on October 13, 2023. Source
Professor Shmuel Lederman — an Israeli political theorist and genocide-studies scholar at the Open University of Israel and University of Haifa. He has considered Israel's actions genocide since April 2024, later publishing "A Not So Textbook Case of Genocide" in the Journal of Genocide Research. Source
Doctor Martin Shaw — a British professor (emeritus, University of Sussex; Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals) and author of What Is Genocide?, described as one of the world's foremost genocide scholars. Among the earliest academics to argue this was a genocidal war, dating to November 2023. Source
Professor Nitzan Lebovic — Chair of Holocaust Studies and Ethical Values at Lehigh University. Gave a talk on his home campus in November 2024 titled "One Year of Genocide in Gaza." Source
Daniel Blatman — an Israeli Holocaust historian and head of the Institute for Contemporary Jewry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Co-authored a Haaretz op-ed with fellow historian Amos Goldberg, "There's No Auschwitz in Gaza. But It's Still Genocide". Source
Lee Mordechai — a historian at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, compiled "Bearing Witness to the Israel-Gaza War," a 124-page, 1,400-footnote documentation project, and concluded in December 2024 that Israel is committing genocide. Source

Resources Children's books
We have several children's books about Palestine and just got the new book Never Again for Anyone. We're starting to get questions from our almost 5-year-old that we need some help answering. For context, I was raised very Zionist, and my side of the family still is. A book that sort of tells the story like the documentary Israelism, but in a way that's appropriate for a 5-year-old, would be so helpful. Does any such book exist?

Resources Where to buy wedding Judaica??
Basically the title. I’m getting married in a few months, but I’m having a hard time finding a breaking glass and a kiddush cup from a store or website that doesn’t promote their products made in occupied Palestine, let alone is anti-Zionist. I’ve found a ketubah artist, but it’s the manufactured products that I’m struggling with, and any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I’m in Canada but can also have things shipped to my parents in the US. When is it easier to just learn glassblowing lol?

Resources I finally feel like I belong again, now I need to replace a few things.
So a year after “walking out” of services at my local synagogue here in Middle Tennessee, I finally feel I have found a place where I belong. However, at the same time, I have noticed the prayers I learned growing up are not the prayers recited in a synagogue that is not supportive of Zionism.
Overall, the services feel like the ones I grew up with in a conservative synagogue, while still being noticeably different. As such, I feel it is time that I get new prayer books. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to go and what books to look for? I could also use a new Tallit, as the one I have had since my Bar Mitzvah is falling apart as of last year, and in my frustration, I hid it so well that I can't find it now. :(
