Kia sportage 2022 fuel filler door sticking out
Hi, I have a 2022 Kia Sportage Hybrid. The fuel door sticks out on one side and doesn’t sit flush with the car. The door itself looks straight.
Could the fuel filler neck or rubber hose be pushing against it? Has anyone had this problem? How did you fix it? Thank you in advance

Why does this randomly pop up when I shift to park and press the ignition button?
I don’t understand when this happens why it’s happening. I park like normal and go to turn off the car and this happens…I then need to hit start/stop again to turn off engine.
2021 Kia Sorento, non turbo, 68,164 km, 24000$ CDN
This sorento caught my eye, non turbo, no DCT, one owner, accident free, 12 service records. The exterior/interior is shockingly clean. The price seems a bit high. Would anybody have any reliablilty concerns? Is the non turbo absolutley gutless? Looking for something to last me 6/7 years. Thanks!
KIA EV2 61 KwH battery (NMC)
Hi,
I am planning to buy the KIA EV2 61 KwH battery model .
I got to know that the 42 KwH is a LFP battery and the higher range one is a NMC battery.
My trips are mostly within cities and not that long range drives very often . Once in a while , yes - i do long trips .
I read that charging above 80% is good for NMC batteries.
I went to the dealer and told them this. But he told me that the KIA Battery Management System is great and its totally fine to charge to 100% always . Only thing he mentioned was not start charging below 10% or above 80% .
Are the above true and is it fine me getting the long range NMC battery ?

UPDATE: Almost 3 weeks without a rental or loaner from Kia after recall
I wanted to provide an update because I’m honestly at a loss for what to do at this point.
I am now going on almost three weeks without a rental or loaner vehicle after Kia took my 2023 Kia K5 GT-Line out of service due to the fuel tank recall (SC356).
My case manager has told me that I would have to pay for a rental out of pocket and then seek reimbursement, but I have already explained multiple times that I cannot afford to do that. I am 23, in college, and working to support myself. I simply do not have hundreds of dollars available to put toward a rental and wait to be reimbursed.
He also told me that because I am 23, he cannot rent a vehicle for me through Enterprise. However, I explained that I have personally rented vehicles through Enterprise before. After that conversation, he told me he would look into it further and see what could be done.
That was almost three weeks ago, and I am still waiting for an actual answer or resolution. At this point, I genuinely do not understand what there is left to look into, especially when I have already explained my situation multiple times. I am not asking for anything unreasonable. I just need transportation to get to work and school while Kia handles the recall and buyback process.
I even called the dealership where my vehicle is being held, Kia Rockwall, hoping to speak with someone who could help escalate the situation. Unfortunately, I was told that both the general manager and service manager are out of the office until next Monday, leaving me with even more waiting and no immediate solution.
Meanwhile, I have already missed lectures and work because I have no reliable transportation. I am trying to keep up with college and support myself, and this situation is putting me in an increasingly difficult position financially and academically. My car was taken out of service because of a manufacturer recall, and I feel like I have been left to deal with all the consequences on my own.
I understand that the buyback process takes time, and I am not expecting that to happen overnight. But how is it acceptable to leave someone without transportation for almost three weeks with no loaner, no rental, and no clear timeline for a solution?
Has anyone else dealt with Kia regarding this specific fuel tank recall or a vehicle buyback? Has anyone successfully gotten Kia to arrange a rental directly through Enterprise rather than requiring them to pay upfront? And is there someone above the case manager or a corporate department I can contact to get this resolved?
I am in Texas, and I would genuinely appreciate any advice on what steps I should take next. I have tried being patient, communicating with my case manager, and contacting the dealership, but I am getting nowhere. I am at the point where I need to escalate this further because I cannot continue going without a vehicle indefinitely.

Kia Fuel Reimbursement Program Class action potentials
Any attorneys paying attention, Kia is now holding onto reimbursements and blaming Blackhawk, the card processing company for the issue. I submitted and had my reimbursement verified June 2026 and still waiting as of October 2026 for a reimbursement.

Why is my Kia ruining my life?
***Please refer to a few posts back regarding needing an entirely new catalytic converter replacement before reading this to understand the depths of my despair with my 2020 Kia Soul.
I dropped my car off yesterday to finally get this $5k catalytic converter. I took out a loan. Kia called one hour in, looking for an additional $2,000 because a stud rusted & fell off as they were doing what they do to put the cat in.
Apparently, in order to repair this stud, the entire motor has to come out.
If I go without this new repair, I can expect my engine light to stay on (my emissions was due in June), and can also expect an exhaust leak.
What the actual FYCK is going on?
Am I naive? Or dumb? Or unlucky? Did they fyck this up? Is this normal???
My Kia Soul was purchased on a loan in 2023, used and I bought it with 80k. It has 118k miles now. I still have a ways to go on my loan. Apparently this car is only worth $5k.
What would you do?

Advice: KIA Buyout Process in a Dealer State
Hi all, there are a few posts about this throughout the last few years, but I could not find a post that shed some light on how to buy out your lease in a “Dealer State” for Kia
The up front issue is when you call Kia Finance, they tell you that you cannot buyout your lease unless you go to a Kia dealer. Which means, you have to get a buy out quote through the dealer wherein they will add on extra fees ($900 was the quote) and only give you bad used car rate.
The short answer is, that is 100% false. You can use any bank you want.
Initially, my wife had called and Kia told her she could absolutely not use another bank and she had to go into a dealer.
So, I called and here’s how the call went
Me: “Hi, my bank wants a buyout package from you, can you send that to me so I can buyout the lease”
Rep: “you’re in a dealer state, you have to go through a dealer”
Me: “That’s not true, I bought out my Toyota lease and I used my bank”
Rep: “you can’t do that, if you use another bank, we will return the payment and keep the account open”
Me: “I don’t believe what you’re telling me, shoot me over to your supervisor”
Call with supervisor:
Supervisor: “sorry, what she was telling you wasn’t right, you can use another bank, the only difference is that in a dealer state, we have to include the sales tax in the buyout package. If you go through the dealer, we do not have to include taxes”
Me: “yeah, that’s literally what I need, a buyout package with sales tax included, I have to pay sales tax, why would I NOT want that included?”
Supervisor: “Ok, we’ll email you the buyout package in 3 days”
I’ll update if I run into any issues, but as of right now, it appears that you can use any bank you want to buyout a lease in a “Dealer State”

Can I switch out the gear shift for a different button?
Hey all, forgive me if this is a stupid question, I know next to nothing about cars. There's this 2019 Niro EX that I really like, however, I wouldn't be able to use the gear shift knob. I have chronic pain in my hands, particularly in my thumb joints, and Kias have a thumb button on the gear shift instead of a button on the front. So if I'm having a bad hand pain day I pretty much wouldn't be able to drive. How difficult/expensive is it to switch it out with something I can consistently use? Are you even able to? Idk I just rly like everything else about this car, this is the one downfall.

Trim popularity
I placed an order for an 26 Niro SX back in June. The order sat in the dealers system until the model year changed over to the 27. I made sure to have the dealer re-enter the order the day Kia announced the change over.
My salesman just texted me today to let me know my order is still sitting in the unfulfilled status. I had him send me the kfos build sheet, so I verified it actually is in the system and my order is priority 001.
Is the Niro SX trim just not popular therefore Kia doesn't put a priority on the factory build for it? Is it possible that the Hawaii region just doesn't get many allocations for this trim? Anybody have any knowledge or info about this?
Edit: forgot to add the model.

How to remove center console for 2026 Kia Sportage Hybrid LX?
Hi everyone! A drink spilled in my cup holders and it was a lot I’d say. I’m trying to find a way to be able to lift the center console to get under and clean it up. I’ve tried searching it online and there doesn’t seem to be any instructions. Anyone can help or send me instructions? Thank you in advance!

5,000 miles without topping off oil!
I just went from 140k-145k miles without having to top off the oil once. Right before 140k miles I did the valve cover gasket and tightened the spark plugs down quite a bit because they had some oil on them.
I love my little red optima

Anyone unlocked Engineering Mode on a Korean 2023 Sportage Hybrid?

I reached the hidden Input Password screen but couldn't find a confirmed password.
Has anyone successfully unlocked it on the Korean version? Any help would be appreciated! 🙏

Is the dealer supposed to give a report of the wheel alignment?
Is this something you’re supposed to ask for or they just give it to you? I didn’t realize until after I left, I was told I should have gotten one. I got new tires and an alignment. I’m wondering how to know if it was even done?

Kia sportage sx 2018 lost power while on the highway
Looking for some advice on next steps. I Recently went on a beach trip with my family and my Kia lost power on the way home and went into what felt like a limp mode and the car was not able to continue accelerating. No dash lights or warnings came up giving me any info on what was going on but the engine sounded like it was knocking when attempting to rev the engine. In the end, I had to get the car towed home.
After doing some research, it appears that my vehicle had a recall with the engine that was fulfilled in 2019 before I purchased the vehicle. The recall was to do a software update KSDS which was supposed to trigger a sensor in the vehicle if the engine is vibrating or knocking more than it’s supposed to, which is then supposed to shut the vehicle off.
I took my Kia in to get looked at by a local Kia dealership and I feel like they are trying to get money out of me before telling me what the actual issue is. They want me to replace the battery, spark plugs, get new oil and some other things quoting me around 2K. I keep telling them that I would like to know if the car qualifies for a warranty and if there’s a way that they can do a diagnostic to verify if this has to do with the recall.
Here is what they are saying now:
“In order to see if a motor is failing, we perform a bearing clearance test that KIA pays for if it fails. If it does not fail, you would be on the hook for 2 hours of labor @ $210 an hour before tax. If this is something you like done, please reply with 'I APPROVE'
the reason why we are recommending those services is because we need your vehicle running correctly with out misfires from your old spark plugs/ new battery so that we can get an accurate reading on what is going on with your vehicle.”
Should I just have them do the $400 test or is there a possible way around this? If it’s not the cause of the issue, I’ll owe $200 diagnostic plus $400 for testing bearing and plus 2k for everything else they quoted. If none of this uncovers what’s going on I could be on the hook for even more after all that.

Head lamp low fuse location
My RH head lamp went today on my 2019 Ceed 1.6 CRDi and I’ve changed the bulb and it still isn’t working, the old bulb is still intact, I’ve scoured my fuse box diagrams and cannot find the head lamp low fuses anywhere. Does anyone know what system they might be integrated into so I can check?

Sportage 1.7 CRDi diesel at 250,000 km: anyone resolved persistent warm engine knocking?
I would like to hear from Sportage 1.7 CRDi diesel owners or mechanics who have actually repaired a similar engine noise. This is my parents' car in South Korea.
Vehicle: Kia Sportage, described by the owner as a 2015 vehicle, Korean-market 1.7-litre CRDi diesel
Mileage: approximately 250,000 km (155,000 miles)
Transmission: exact specification not yet confirmed
Symptoms:
- The noise continues after the engine is fully warmed up.
- As engine RPM increases, the noise repeats faster.
- There are no obvious warning lights, loss of power, severe shaking or unusual exhaust smoke.
Checks already reported by the workshop:
- No metal particles were found in the oil filter.
- An accessory-belt removal test was performed and they reported no fault found. I do not yet have the exact observation about how the noise behaved during that test.
- The injectors were checked and reported normal; the specific test method/results are not available to me yet.
Despite these checks, the workshop could not confirm the cause. They suggested trying an engine rebuild/overhaul (described as 'boring'), initially quoted at KRW 3.3 million, with costs potentially rising to under KRW 5 million if the noise is not resolved. The exact scope of that work still needs clarification.
The attached clip contains the original engine-noise recording.
Given the recording and those checks, what should be investigated next? What measurements would help confirm or exclude timing-chain/tensioner, lubrication-pressure, internal engine or engine/transmission connection problems before agreeing to a rebuild? Would measuring hot engine oil pressure help narrow down the cause?
My parents have seen owner reports of similar noises being resolved by an engine overhaul or short-block replacement, but we have not verified the exact engine specification or repair scope in those reports. If you have repaired this specific 1.7 CRDi engine with a persistent noise when fully warm, what was the confirmed damaged component, and what parts were actually replaced?
This is the diesel engine, so please distinguish it from the North American petrol Sportage/Theta II bearing-recall cases.

Make the trade?
Currently own a 21 sonata limited. Only 40k miles. But out of boredom and the fact the k4 hatchback looks awesome, I toss back and forth between whether or not to trade it in. Trade value of course plays a part. But do i bother trading in for a hatchback that essentially has everything my current vehicle already does.
