This marrying just after a year thing is such a marrying-for-an-EU-passport storyline.

And I am saying this as an Asian who KNOWS people that did this too but instead of an ugly guy, they married guys 35-45years their seniors.

Well, at least she needs to stay married to him for at least 7 years before getting the passport, and we don’t really have alimony in Sweden. Child support is only 150-200 EUR a month depending on the child’s age. I do hope she loves him!

If she married him pre-2022 and it was already 3 years by then, she probably already have the citizenship.

I know someone who literally couldn’t even speak Swedish and has no interest in learning it (said everyone speaks English anyways) but managed to get her passport before the rule changed. I speak better Swedish than her even if I only lived there for a year.

Hopefully for his and their kid’s sake.
