Her writing is beautiful and touching. She posted 20 photos by the way; I simply chose some of them to share here.

Lourdes (Lola) Leon celebrates her 30th birthday today! She has since carved out her own career path as a model, singer, and dancer. She currently has a song out, "T-Shirt" and collaborated with her mom on "The Test", which in featured on the Confessions II album. Wishing her all the best on her special day!

In the new bts photos from Confessions II shared by the director, we can clearly see that Madonna wasn't wearing grillz during the recording of the song with Stromae, contrary to what many had speculated
*plus a photo of the tracklist for the first few songs on the album

I started listening to Madonna after hearing Confessions 2. I’m 26, so obviously I’ve always known who she is, but she’s always seemed like this almost mythical figure to me, especially because of the way my older gay friends and my mom have talked about her. For whatever reason, though, I never really took the time to explore her music.
Since then, I’ve listened to every single one of her albums, and wow. The other day, I was listening to Bedtime Stories from start to finish while working out, and it genuinely blew my mind. “Inside of Me” is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard in my life. And the trance that the entire second half of the album put me in was just insane.
I don’t think I’ve ever experienced this kind of impact from an artist before. Part of it is probably because she has such an enormous catalog, and I’m getting to experience decades of artistic evolution all at once. There’s something really incredible about discovering an artist’s entire career in such a concentrated period of time, especially someone who has reinvented herself so many times.

It was posted on youtube but it got taken down. Please help us track this lost media where the marketing team for Confessions 2 discuss how the album's rollout has changed to an audience of marketing folks.

Madame X is to me American Life 2.0. It was written in the aftermath of Trump's first election and Madonna's exile to Portugal, just like American Life was a reaction to the Iraq war and her exile to London. It also marks her reunion with Mirwais.
My initial reaction to it was to roll my eyes to some of the clunky lyrics (I'm Gay, I'm Islam..), unconventional song structure, abrasive production, dissonant sounds, and honestly I could never take seriously Madonna singing about politics, as it sounds too shallow and on the nose to me.
Other things that probably put people off: her singing with grills on, autotune etc.
I gave it another listen and though it's quite uneven, I've somehow warmed to it. The production is actually quite good. There are some catchy songs on here.
My favourite songs on here:
Bitch I'm Locca: this song is actually better than Medellin. The Portuguese chorus and post chorus are really catchy. And though I don't speak Portuguese, her Portuguese sounds authentic without the typical American accent
Crave: The melody is really good, it feels very vintage. I can't place it, but it reminds me of an older classic song.
Come Alive: this song is so catchy and addictive. It's a very new sound for Madonna. The pre chorus where she switches to a higher register is extremely catchy.
Faz Gostoco: another Portuguese banger. Her fast Portuguese delivery is impressive
Looking for Mercy: the chorus is amazing
I Rise: the chorus again is catchy
Back up to the gate
Songs that miss the mark/Kinda cringey. I think the fact that these songs are the front part of the album and are all together put people off this album. They should have been at the end or spread out more.
Dark Ballet (this sounds like a retread of American Life at least lyrically)
God control: I don't want to say anything about this song. But the backing choir is not bad
Batuka 🙈
Killers who are partying ( this song has the iconic lines I mentioned at the beginning)
So I think on the whole it has some really unlistenable or weird songs mixed with some real bangers. It's very experimental and I think it deserves credit for that. There's nothing objectively or objectionably bad on this album expect some questionable lyrics (that's why I don't smoke that dope). I think it was unfairly dismissed.

So recently, I've once again fallen down a Madonna rabbit hole, and over the last couple of weeks, I've literally spent HOURS watching her old live performances. Although her 90s and early 2000s output is without a doubt my favourite, I have a real soft spot for her very first tour. I adore how intimate it feels, there's none of the elaborate staging and spectacle that would come to define her later tours. I mean obviously her later tours are objectively bigger productions, but there's something about the rawness and simplicity of the Virgin Tour that makes it so impressive to me.
And while Madonna herself is, of course, the main attraction, I'm also someone who's really interested in dance and cinematography, so naturally, I want to find out more about the people who were behind and on stage with her. Who were the musicians? Who were the dancers? How did they get involved with the tour, and what happened to them afterwards? These people weren't merely decorative elements in her performances, they were their own artists with their own skills and ambitions that helped bring the tour together. But this was the 80s, and a lot of information has simply been lost to time.
There's very little information about the two dancers who performed alongside Madonna in particular. One of them was Lyndon B. Johnson, who, yes, unfortunately shares his name with a former US president, who ALSO, by the way, apparently had a connection to ballet (not the sort of trivia I was expecting to learn today, but here we are). This makes the search results even more confusing, and I couldn't find anything about the dancer beyond an IMDb page. Is he still alive today? Who knows.
The other dancer, Michael Perea, has a more substantial trail to follow. I came across an article from Pressure Magazine about his life and career, which I found really interesting. I'll paste it in at the bottom, but it's in German, so here's a little summary (or you can also just translate it). According to the article, Michael was a highly accomplished dancer who worked with some of the biggest names in the entertainment, including Cher, Dolly Parton, and Michael Jackson. He also appeared in some music videos, most notably Lionel Richie's Dancing on the Ceiling and Madonna's Material Girl. And of course, he performed on the Virgin Tour and during Madonna's Live Aid appearance alongside Lyndon B. Johnson. He died in 1989 from complications related to AIDS.
Reading about his life made me wonder how much the AIDS epidemic contributed to the loss of history. So many talented people died young and the communities and friendships that might have preserved their stories were devastated. I know this might not be something everyone cares about, but I find it genuinely saddening to think about how much personal history and artistic legacy may have disappeared with them. So many of the people who could have shared those memories and stories are long gone, and we'll never get to hear them.
So there's that! I just thought this was interesting, so might as well share on Reddit. I hope you learned something new and are perhaps at least a little as interested in this as I am. If you know anything more, please let me know!

I'm starting to fall for Confessions II, the first time I listened to it which was late July I didn't like it at all. It took some time to choose my favorites and start getting into it and it's so far one of my favorites albums from M so far. What about you??
My favorite line ever is where she goes: "but out heereee, on the dancaflooor🫦"

For me it is definitely included when I listen to the record in its entirety, I think it fits nicely; despite Mer Girl's perfect end to the record. ‘Has to be’ comes as an echo track perhaps, ghostly calling out after the running away of Mer.
Are you a 13-track purist or does it find room?

3 years ago, Madonna debuted her Celebration Tour in London at the O2 Arena. An amazing show! Can’t believe it’s already been 3 years!
Thoughts about the show?
