Riichi Mahjong Cheat Sheet (1 page PDF or Images)
Here is the final (for now at least) version of the riichi mahjong cheat sheet I made.
PDF (Portrait, one sided or Landscape, two sided): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18hxO5DMVAqxSNV9VvpjAg6YjyPVAMzyS?usp=sharing
Images: https://imgur.com/gallery/WREgw2B
The PDF version is one page (8.5x11, could export to A4 if there's interest), and covers tiles and winds, yaku, and scoring.
The image version is two 1080p images, the first being a list of yaku (I posted this one earlier to this sub) and the second being a scoring guide and table. The intended use case was for on a phone during a game so you could look at the yaku during the hand then switch to the scoring table after.
Any comments are appreciated.
Licensing is CC/BY/NC 4.0. The tile images used are courtesy FluffyStuff on GitHub (https://github.com/FluffyStuff/riichi-mahjong-tiles), licensed CC/BY 4.0.

I know itβs been a while since you posted this but I was just reading this article on how youth in Ukraine are playing mahjong to relax and saw your cheat sheet being used in one of the shots! Very cool.

Minor update (v3, 2021-02-01): Because math works, I added text extending the scoring table to infinite fu (50 fu isn't rounded, so 110 fu is just 50 + 60)

Amazing work! I'll definitely print it for playing irl. However i think you forgot the 2 fu for open pinfu, no?
Edit : nevermind I found it. You automatically round up the open pinfu fu hand value.

The links start to open and show the sheet, then vanished and wants to load VPN software and MGM Sportsbook garbage apps....

Replaced with Google Drive links. Sorry about that, shouldn't have trusted a PDF host I heard about elsewhere on Reddit

Excellent work! I'd love to make a French translation out of it.

That's incredible! Thank you so much, it is so pleasing visually, most guides or sheets are bland and sometimes you don't know what to do, this explains it perfectly!

Very nice work! I'll be saving a copy for my next Riichi date. It's great to have resources like this, especially when newer players are involved.

Minor update β The PDFs have been re-rendered entirely in vector and with embedded text, for ease of translation or accessibility.

I love the way this is organized, I'll probably print out a few copies to replace the ones I'm using now. I have a few suggestions, though:
- Saying nagashi mangan happens "at the end" is a bit confusing--I'd probably say "at exhaustive draw" instead. Not much room in the box, but maybe also a comment like, "tenpai not required" or something.
- In most cases, lines connecting yaku imply mutual exclusivity/upgrades (for example, from chanta to honroutou or from iipeikou to ryanpeikou--this is my favorite part, a lot of yaku charts miss this), but there's also a line going from yakuhai to shousangen which are mutually inclusive.
- There's not much room left in the box, but I would want a comment on yakuhai that it counts twice if the round and seat wind are the same. Maybe replace "dealer is east" (since people probably learn that without looking at a yaku chart and it's implied by the seat winds chart) with "stacks with bakaze" or something like that.

Yeah I wasn't sure how to do shousangen... it's definitely a direct upgrade (any yaku that's tabbed out is "you don't really need to remember this when you're starting out as it's just a fancier version of one you already know"), but the scoring makes it weird.
I wanted to match with Mahjong Soul and most other scoring tables that count it as 2, but maybe counting it as 4 and keeping it there is better?

Hello, I am interested in translating this cheat sheet in French. Is there a way to have the raw files or to contribute somewhere like a github?

From responses from my newbie friends, I modified the design a bit and then printed and laminated a set of 4 papers. The set consists of 1 two-sided sheet with the scoring template on one side and yaku list on the other. Then the other 3 are newbie two-sided papers for the other players, where one side is the Simplified Riichi Guide (modified version) and other side has the whole yakulist.
I modified the Simplified Riichi Guide side of your Teaching sheet by adding chiitoitsu (one of the most common newbie hands), instruction what a hand is, put the "Dora" info on that side and then the list of tiles, as otherwise my friends had to be turning the paper all the time.

Would you be willing to send the highest quality version of your simplified guide page?

Thank you so much! I've been slowly teaching my parents and playing sanma so this will be a huge help for them to identify yaku and a massive help to me to get better at scoring!

I see that in the latest version Big Four Winds was downgraded to a single Yakuman. Was that intentional?

This sheet is awesome, it's been a huge help in learning to play. I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding something, but I noticed the YakuList.png replaced Renhou with Nagashi Mangan, is that just for the sake of space?

I think this is excellent! Certainly saving a copy. Honestly, it looks like you've really gotten everything possible on here, which makes it a great cheat sheet. Even how to tell which dora indicator leads to what! Even how honba works! I think I'd like to have it printed out in color on good paper for whenever in-person meetups are back on. My locals do sometimes get newbies wandering by, and it's always handy to have a good resource like this.
