Sain baitsgaana uu r/mongolia!

For some context, I’m (27F) Mongolian who is married to a non-Mongolian (28M). We were looking for some resources so my husband can learn Mongolian, and we realized there weren’t that many apps that are user-friendly or easy to stick with. It got me thinking about all the 2nd gen kids I've met who don't know Mongolian, and whether my kids in the future would be able to speak Mongolian if I’m the only one teaching it. It lowkey got me scared that our language might die in my family line in the next generation or two, which just adds to my pre-existing guilt of feeling not Mongolian enough and blah blah blah blah.

So to combat this, my husband and I have been working on “Mongolingo”, a beginner-friendly gamified language learning app to teach Mongolian. So far I only made the lessons for Unit 1 and 2 because I wanted to get YOUR inputs on whether I’m going too fast, too slow, if the lessons I’m teaching make sense in general or if I should take a completely different approach instead.

I would GREATLY appreciate any and all feedback from native Mongolian speakers, "Monglish" speakers, and people who don't know any Mongolian! I want this to be something that anyone can use if they have any curiosity about our language, and in the future add more and more advanced sections.

Please leave feedback in the comments below! And please no hate comments lol

Download app here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mongolingo/id6774407866 or just look up Mongolingo (its the one with the bear mascot)

Edit: THANK YOU SO MUCH for the support and comments! We have written down any and all feedback so far onto our to-dos so expect these in our next update, as well as more lessons. We will also be reaching out to some Mongolian schools and communities in the states to get some feedback on our lessons. We are so so grateful for being added to the posts highlight and being given this user flare, shout out mods! Yostoiii ih bayarlalaa manaihaan.

Pinned A Note of Precaution on Meeting Strangers via Reddit

UPDATE: All underage users posting or commenting to meet new people will be deleted for their safety.

Due to recent posts by teen and adolescent redditors in this sub, we mods want to say this one thing.

It's okay to be bored and want to meet new people for whatever reason, but please exercise some caution and use common sense. Especially if you're under 18.

Always tell a parent and/or friend about any meetings you're going to have with a stranger.

Tell them the location of your meetings and ask them to check in after certain amount of time.

Also, use common sense in giving out your personal information, like name, D.O.B, address, etc.

And you probably don't need us to tell you how scary things can get if someone gets a hold of embarrassing data about you. Right?

We're sure most people in this subreddit are good and cool, but just want you to use common sense.

What else is there to add?

TDB app no longer supports iOS versions below 16.0 and since my phone cannot run it I am no longer a customer of TDB.

Not sure what is the earliest version of Android it supports.. but hell it's been only 5 years since iOS 15 was released and I don't like how they are treating their long-time customers. A new phone is like a month's worth of salary in Mongolia and they expect us to buy new phones regularly?

Question | Асуулт Looking for 8K/16K resin printing services

Hi! Me and my mate have been Warhammer fans for a while. Official minis are expensive af, so we usually get ours from China or Russia, wherever we can find them cheaper, tbh.

Now we're considering getting some minis printed ourselves. We found a few printing services a couple of years ago, but none of them offered anything above 4K resolution. Not sure if things have changed since then.

Do you guys know any places that offer 8K or 16K resin printing? I'd love to know the prices too!

Thanks!

Title: Overstayed my Mongolian visa by 3 days — border officers at Zamiin-Uud are requiring an official interpreter. Is this normal?

Hi everyone,

I'm a French citizen currently trying to leave Mongolia for China through the Zamiin-Uud road border crossing.

My Mongolian visa expired on October 14, and I'm trying to leave today, October 17, so I've overstayed by 3 days.

I had some big troubles in ub that made me leave too late.

I went to the immigration office in Zamiin-Uud this morning. An officer checked my passport for a few minutes and told me to proceed to the border crossing.

However, at border control, the officers took my passport and told me I had broken the law. They then told me I needed to find an officially certified English–Mongolian interpreter in person to make a declaration about my overstay.

The confusing part is that they haven't given me any paperwork to sign, any contact details for an interpreter, or any clear instructions on how to find one. My passport is being held, so I'm effectively stuck at the border.

I've read the Mongolian Immigration Agency's official guidance on visa overstays, but I couldn't find anything explicitly stating that a certified interpreter is mandatory in this situation.

My questions are:

- Has anyone experienced something similar when overstaying their Mongolian visa?

- Is there an actual law or regulation requiring a certified interpreter for this procedure?

- Is it normal for border officers to require you to arrange and pay for an interpreter yourself, without providing any contacts?

- Is there an official list of approved interpreters in Zamiin-Uud or Dornogovi?

I'm willing to cooperate and pay any legally required fine. I just want to understand the procedure and resolve this without unnecessary delays or costs.

Any advice or firsthand experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thinking about go back to Mongolia

Shits going through hard these days
im college student in U.S i've been living in u.s for full year and half yes i made some friends and some communitty even found the job that i desperately need for but still my parents paid all of my shit,
that makes my mental worse ,recently my thoughts got hooked up by going back to Mongolia.
I heard most students who came back to Mongolia cause of lack of financial stuffs but for me not, real problem my parents keep pushing me stay here and doing my things for me. I really go back to my country i never so felt so drained before since when i came here.
Honestly i really dont know what to do im being stucked.
In mongolia heard some fuel some etc problems i know its way hard to live in Mongolia than U.S but staying here is eating me alive. (im 20yo)
(i told my parents before about my giving up situation they never accept it)

Are there people who have gone through the same problems as me? People who gave up because of similar issues, returned to Mongolia, and continued their education there? What should I do?

Rant | Хуурай агсам I'm young and my life is so in front of me, except that my parents are standing between us or sum. TS PMO. Genuinely unorganized rant,

So lowkey I retook the SAT and like ts improved by almost 150 points from august, and now my parents are genuinely sending me those stupid ass facebook reels that go like "scholarships that are easy to get for undergraduate studies" and it's genuinely fucking chevening (postgrad only btw), mext, gks (which are all quite damn notoriously hard to get btw or atleast so imo), and teaching me that you should apply to fuckass reach, target and safety as if i already did not know that (i go to one of those college prep abroad stuff btw). And they don't even fucking tell me how much they can fund my studies, and tell me some vague bullshit like uhm if you get into like japanese harvard we can pay like 20 ymu 30 say a year i think, but like you should get like a full scholarship and stuff. Bro is it 20 say or 30 say wtf, that helps me decide whether to apply to some schools with less financial aid, we can afford according to your weird big ass range (i feel so rich and privileged writing ts).

Also apparently there is like only 1 or 2 schools in my khoroo or sum and they're telling me to fucking apply to YURUNKHIILEGCHIIN TETGELEG ot some bullshit, while telling me to like sub my YESHIIN ONOO with my IELTS, SATIIN ONOO (you need yeshiin onoo for ts btw, i told ts to them like 10 fucking times). And they keep telling me about the stupid ass BOLOVSROLIIN ZEELIIN SAN, like bro i already know you told me ts like 10 times gang. Broo you already said that like 10 times i already know ughh. Also i finally asked my mother to like buy me some makeup for me as a congratulatory gift, and they legit said that i prolly can't do it and shouldn't do it and won't stick to it anyways or sum, but i did like actually fking stick to my ground once and like my mom is buying me my first fucking cushion (prolly those kiddie shits anyways but who gives a shit, it's a thing anyways) i guess. I genuinely look very young irl and i feel like no one takes me seriously because of it, and i wanted to fucking finally start doing makeup to look atleast a lil bit older, but atleast now i think i'd look like a 12 yo with really bad unblended foundation with really ass bob and shit fringes and acne i guess. Also senioritis is actually hitting me pretty bad but my stupid teachers keep giving us homework (tfym i need to memorise like 10 poems by next friday ts sucks even more because my homeroom teacher is mongolian language, script and literature teacher) even tho we barely had any last year? I thought 12th grade was about baahan surgaltand suuh or sum shit, not actually studying at school, why the fuck are my teachers all lowkey way more strict nowadays (i go to a public school btw, and being very lenient with grades in 12th grade is in fact a common occurrence here). Also lowk the only school subject i think that i am actually good at is english, and it is my last year in school so i wanted to get into the duurgiin olimpiyad or sum shi, and apparently surguuliin shat of the said olimpiyad is like around 3 weeks before the duurgiin shat (plus my english teachers aren't even that good at english or sum (i think so?) like no like good tutoring for me ig).

Atleast my parents are trying albeit they're like no help at all ig, i wish they could like just realise that they aren't even being helpful actually.

Lowk i suck ass at writing essays so i was genuinely procrastinating until i got a decent sat score or whatever, and now i have to write like bajillion essays now but i'm not that pissed about that actually. Plus i'm not even that pissed anymore rn lolol.

Also not related but, i hate sue klebold to my guts, i'm glad that i'm not related to her, cuz imagine your like 5th aunt going boohoo my son is like one of the most prolific mass shooters ever i need to get into 10000000 fucking talk shows talking about how great my son was (tbf my fault for listening to some stupid yt vid while writing this, also fuck columbiners they have zero iq because wdym these mfs think that zero day actors were shooters, and like genuinely thirst over them gang). Also that one chechen school shooting isn't even a fucking school shooting that's like domestic terrorism, i mean it's far from like the stereotypical shooting as in it was hella planned by some small unofficial separatist army, they did have guns but it's more of similar to domestic terrorism. idk why i went on a tangent here as well.

Discussion | Хэлэлцүүлэг CU and GS25 is genuinely exhausting

Former GS full time worker here. Also, if you haven’t worked in CU of GS. I will gladly inform you with many knowledges. My manager was kind hearted, soft spoken person. While my manager being like that, it was STILL brutal. Why? What the actual hell is that salary? Surely, it add 100k if you level up. The level up process is easy. But still, for starters? It’s genuinely hell. While having low salary, salt to the wound? You can get in debt. A lot of debt if you make mistakes (a mistake from a human being) what mistakes? You might ask

  1. Counting the incoming supplies and products on paper, every single one of them. Some products and supplies come in per number 2k-3k. Count the products wrong, if the product didn’t come and you marked on the paper? You have to pay for it.

  2. Mistakes from dropping or serving the food wrongly. You gotta pay for that. Fair if you dropped it, no one eating a dirtied oroomog. Unfair part? Someone goes and “i wanna eat this, heat it!” Then when you proceed to do. The person might leave and you can’t put the heated food back. You gotta pay for it. Dear customers, stop doing that bs.

  3. Accidentally giving more money when giving back the remaining money. If you are bad at math or neurodivergent who just struggles with numbers. Don’t even think about getting in this job

  4. Scanning wrong products of a barcode. Scenario, a person comes in carrying 300ml pepsi and 500ml pepsi. He put the big one in his pocket and said “yeah i am carrying two 300ml pepsi” scan the barcodes. Apparently my fault for not checking. So you PAY even though slightly smaller amount of money comes in, doesn’t matter. You STILL pay for the full price of 500ml of pepsi. That is just pepsi, just imagine soft Haraa, 33% haraa. Nogoon X, but those are behind the counter so it’s hard to be an accidental. I remember being in debt for 80k on my first month. “Complaining so much!” I wanna move some bricks and shit and get a lot, not work AND be in debt. Tf? (My parents don’t allow me to work in construction.)

So that was just debt part. There are more brutal things. Counting, twice in six months maybe. We count all the products. What is missing and what is not. It’s genuinely hell since it happens during night, don’t take a part in if you have normal sleep schedule.

And don’t get me started with those ZOMBIES after 00:00. They genuinely harass me, try to seduce, sexually assault, physically assault to buy alcohol. It’s genuinely a law not to sell but they are DESPERATE. This is the most thing i hate. Some even verbally assault me. “Teneg psda, Umhii lalar, Erguu Gichii, Mayg al” is a norm. I am 186cm male, I don’t get threatened easily and stand proud. Imagine that happens to a girl in night shift, 4 grown ahh men is assaulting her in many types of way and the guards are supposedly “coming” they are really not reliable if i am being threatened and they arrive in 10 minutes. There HAS TO BE some kind of male to escalate things at every shift. I don’t trust guards. Some drunk boomers literally slept on the table, not leaning. Deadahh got up on and laid five stars ON THE TABLE (not even the worst case scenario). I am not supposed to physically grab and throw him out so i call guards. Yk what happened? They arrived after 15 minutes. What if I was getting threatened by a knife? By many people?

The worst part, the mini works you do is insane. I am janitor, cashier, maintenance, guard, security, guide, counter, cleaner, waiter, chef at the same time while being paid like shi.

And for the most important part.

To dear customer, please respect the workers. We are also humans. We could have had a bad night, no sleep, might be in debt, family problems, had an illness, disability, emotions. 1 times out of 3. I am treated like garbage.

Now, let’s stack all of it at the end

Not really pure professionalism but i am mini janitor, maintenance, guard, security, chef, waiter, guide, counter, cashier with low paying salary, treated like garbage with debts to pay from the job i am currently paying, wouldn’t that make you irritated? And add on that, you are cursing me. Wooowww literal worst combo as possible, what could have been worse? Manager constantly frying yo shi. Luckily my manager was a soft person.

“Crybaby” try working in one.

I suddenly remembered this and i want to tell my story regarding authorities. Maybe somebody can explain it to me. Or maybe it can act as a warning to others to keep an eye on their valuables.

My parent died around half a decade ago and one thing i never understand is that the police "confiscated" their phone and never gave it back? Didnt even give us a reason; it was utter silence.

It was the latest model of iphone around that time, I think it was version 12. So, maybe they wanted to steal it? I dont have much faith on their integrity.

Recognizing Mongolians abroad

Do you guys also seem to instantly recognise other Mongolians while abroad?
A few months ago I was in Europe, this girl walked towards me and I could instantly tell she was Mongolian. Not by her facial features but just by the way she carries herself and her overall demeanour. A couple seconds later I heard her on the phone speaking in Mongolian to her mother and I was like I KNEW IT!!! There have been multiple times where I could tell someone was Mongolian just by looking at them! Even in Asian countries.
It’s so weird. It’s like I can recognise them telepathically.
