Good I hope the rest of Ed and Pink's tour are in shambles. Shitty behavior from both of them.

If ed is truthful as to the promoters of the show were behind it, Ed should just drop their contract to save face.

He was textbook scapegoating them.

As a global headliner, he has the power. He chose not to wield it.

Right? "OK I'll just go wherever else I want to play and venues will trip over themselves to book me"

But now he's got an excuse "oh no the venues will drop me if I keep you around, so you gotta go"

Peak "My mom says you have to leave" energy.

Won’t someone think of their bank accounts?!

He's Ed Sheeran, dude could change to a venue that isn't shitbag and even if it's smaller charge more to make up for it and I'm sure he'd still come out ahead publicly. Instead he's nuking himself.

Yup, he easily could just do more dates at smaller venues in the same markets, if he wanted.

At this point it would just look forced and weak. No saving this news cycle for him.

He'd have to try and save face today, if not in the next few hours, I'll give him leeway if he's just making emergency calls to his lawyers, cause contract law is nothing to sneeze at when it comes to backing out.

If he'd shown some spine, he wouldn't be backing out of anything. It would be the venues canceling. Which, dependant on the contract details, would still get his camp paid.

2

u/Foe117 Sep 15 '26

Whatever the details, the people are watching to see what he does in the next 24 hours, the longer he waits, the worse it will get.

I think his earlier "both sides" message is it. Like, everything about him is so firmly planted in the middle of the road that he can't pick a lane without alienating a huge part of his following. I'm sure he's aware of that, so he's hedging his bets on maintaining the middle and waiting for it to blow over. Reality is, most of his fan base doesn't actually give a fuck.

thats also true, People who care politically in the music scene are fairly far and few in-between. Attendee's are usually attending concerts to escape all the politics, be it in the office or doomscrolling reddit.

I mean even if that's true, the promoters don't have jobs without people like him. He has the power. He could have stood on business and he very much chose not to.

He’s worth $400 million so he is the promoter.

He should have put it on the venues and not kicked Macklemore. Let the venues take the hit of actually going through with the threat to cancel the show and refund everyone. I don't think they would have. They like money too much.

I bet she has asked him if she can come out on stage for one of his shows

"Guys I am apolitical and don't want to be forced into sharing or having opinions on everything people press me on".

Then people like you, who seem to think that's okay, wish them ill.

Pink's the one who originally called out Macklemore for saying free Palestine and started this whole debacle. She called it offensive, people were like "fuck pink" and then the stadiums got involved and yeeted Macklemore even though he's been saying free Palestine forever.

u/prosperouscheat Sep 15 '26

Macklemore's statements on stage and his response statements were very carefully worded to be not offensive unless you happen to be pro-genocide.

17

u/RellenD Sep 15 '26

Basically started the whole outrage against Mackelmore over this

12

u/beefeez Sep 15 '26

macklemores statements at the concert were a nothing burger until she reposted it then made a big deal out of it

6

u/ucmyproblemisthis378 Sep 15 '26

Reposted a call for Mackelmore's removal from Ed's tour because of his stance on Palestine

People generally don't care about supports so he'll be fine
