Funny how those who have more to lose got integrity while Ed, who has gotten his bag times and times again, caves. What a total pos that fuckhead is for not standing up for the little guys
People with fewer financial resources rely more on social networks and community support to navigate daily life, which builds higher emotional intelligence and social attentiveness.
Greater wealth creates a sense of self-sufficiency, which can disconnect individuals from the immediate needs or feelings of those around them.
This was most noticeable when I was collecting items for Haiti during the 2010 earthquake. One large box at Walmart, one large box at Kroger, one large box at Whole Foods. Each had clearly listed what items were being requested. Whole Foods had like less than a dozen items. Kroger had theirs about halfway filled. Walmart had so much overflow it filled the box plus 3 more carts they had saved in the employee break room.
To be fair if I'm giving to Haiti I'd rather do it from a cheap store. Like, better get a 20lbs bag marked "white rice: bulk" from walmart than a 3oz "Wild-Harvested Aged Organic Basmati" from whole foods, both costing the same price. The haitians will thank you.
Nononono, you get rich by innovating. You get rich in many ways, and democrats and republicans alike will have plenty to say but when it comes to actually addressing meritocracy and neoliberal outlooks, neither will budge, for their 401ks and our economy is tied to the very outlook that a financial market is king.

Could also be the way people donate. I donate over 10% of my take home earnings to various charities, but I research them and then setup recurring donations (I've occasionally done one time large donations for events like Haiti).
I never give at stores because I often don't know the details of the charities, and because I don't want to pay for corporate charity washing. Those stores usually advertise all the money they helped collect, so essentially I'd be paying for their free PR.
I heard someone awhile back referred to this as “dragon hoarding sickness”
People with THAT much money have something wrong with their brains. They could do so much good with even 1% of their dragon’s hoard being shared with people who needed it
Yeah a huge tour like this means the world to a small artist. That’s a tough decision for someone small time and it could potentially affect the rest of their career.
Something in your brain must break once you make over 100 million, like it’s the minimum amount before something breaks and you start losing your humanity.
I dont think he caves, he genuinely doesn’t care. No one in those positions with that power and appeal will loose anything by voicing an opinion that ia tru to them. Thats why they have fans. He genuinely is just a slop capitalist who can sing mediocre pop music. Thats it.
He’s not caving. If Ed does, countless hundreds or thousands of people will be out of the job. It doesn’t matter if supporting acts drop, majority of people aren’t paying money for that anyway. People paid money and people are relying on a paycheck in this.
You do realize he doesn’t win in this right? Stay neutral and apparently that means he supports genocide. Support Palestine and loses the tour and with it, jobs for hundreds of his tour employees along with the money people spent to go to the concert. Zero winning for him. Literally zero. Everyone can be critical all they want but the dude cannot please everyone and if you have a solution where nobody loses then please tell? I think it’s absolutely fair if someone wants to keep their opinions and views to themselves and it 100% does not make them a bad person to stay silent on that. Infact, I think more people should keep their opinions to themselves.
You know what his opinion won’t do? It won’t stop the genocide. It won’t stop the conflict. It won’t make anyone who died come back to life. It won’t stop future death. He’s a musician.
I think it’s okay if the sacrifice was just himself. That being said, cancelling his US leg of the tour doesn’t sacrifice just Ed. And I don’t think it’s okay for you, me, or anyone else to require Ed to make the sacrifice that will impact others, with no say whatsoever, just to because Macklemore did. This is not a black and white situation. Multiple things can be true at once and saying so doesn’t invalidate the others or support the others.
Apparently his 350-400M in net worth isn’t enough. Dude has already secured legacy money for 10 generations. He could never earn another dime will die a billionaire.
Apparently there is something about having more money that makes you have less morales and sense. He has enough sway to do tour dates and any location he chooses to make money. Didn’t care about his music before but now I’ll outright shit on it any chance I get. He’s got all that money but he’s still a feckless little loser.
It's clear that you don't know how big stadium tours work. Thousands of people are needed to make the concerts happen. They all rely on Ed Sheeran for their paycheques. Cancelling the entire tour just to make a performative statement would cost all of them their jobs. Thankfully, Sheeran is more responsible than that.
I would argue that being popular among all the groups means you can only lose by picking sides.
If your popularity is low - your can capitalize on only one group and still grow. Also, if the dude is Irish and says nothing - he might lose the little support he already has among that demographics, so he has to say something.
But there is no two ways of seeing Israel evicting Palestinians and building more settler villages, obviously. People should condemn it just like they should condemn ruscism. A large chunk of Americans support one or both of those, regretfully.
