Dolly never pissed off a single billionaire in her life, let's be real. She was just so incredibly good at riding the fence that everyone came away thinking she was on their side. If she were in Ed's position right now, do you think there's even a chance in hell she'd cancel the tour?

Dolly is an interesting case. I’m not sure she was better at riding the fence than others, but she came up in a different time. She wouldn’t have gotten away with saying ‘I’m not a feminist’ nowadays. We demand more from our celebrities now.

Dolly famously never spoke out politically although she donated so much money to progressive causes.

Dolly removed the word Dixie from her shows as she learned more about Southern symbolism. She didn’t seem afraid of offending anyone.

Honestly? I think she might, that lady had a backbone.

Did she? Or was she just so charming that you came away with that impression? Can you name one time in her life when she took a financial loss or seriously alienated bad people to push her beliefs.

I feel like we can make an educated guess based on her failing to do anything remotely like that for her entire 60 year career, and her repeatedly saying that she didn't talk about politics to avoid offending anyone. Plus her sister saying she didn't talk about politics "because she was a good businesswoman." I mean, it really couldn't be any clearer. You don't have to hate her or anything, and she still made great music and supported great causes.
