What does “see Palestine free in our lifetime” mean?

6

u/Sean_Brady 22d ago

It could mean a few things:

  1. They want a return to the status quo (decades of strife)
  2. They want Israel to no longer exist
  3. They jus wan peace (exactly what Sheeran would say he wants but he didn't word it vague or flowery enough)

4

You’re right, it could mean multiple things. That’s why I’m asking what shookney interprets it as, and is advocating for

i think u probably know

Absolutely nothing.

They don’t want to live in an open air prison.

4

u/Monterenbas 22d ago

So on what territory do they want to live?

What are the borders of this Palestine?

-2

u/star86 22d ago

Their own, in peace, without “settlers” taking more and more land from them.

6

u/Monterenbas 22d ago

So, does without settlers means without the 10 millions Israelis currently living here?

0

u/star86 22d ago

Israeli settlers who establish and expand settlements - particularly unauthorized outposts considered illegal under both international law and, initially, domestic Israeli law - includes a wide range of ideologically driven civilians, private contractors, and nationalist-religious groups.

Don’t play ignorant, you know exactly which ones I’m talking about.

You’re the one who’s playing cryptic and is unwilling to give a clear answer to pretty straightforward question.

If you mean to say « settlers are Israelis living outside of Israel internationaly recognized borders » You can just say so.

No need to play cute.

u/star86 22d ago

That’s exactly what I’m saying. Not sure how much more clear it could have been.

3

u/Monterenbas 22d ago

It is absolutely not what you Said tho.

Similary to borders, you can talk about the West Bank, 1967 borders, 1948 borders or the integrity of the territory but « Their own, in peace, without “settlers” taking more and more land from them » means absolutely nothing.

Not sure what’s the point of being deliberetely vague and cryptic, it’s not that deep.

That’s fair.

Everyone loves in the open air prison of earth

Imagine not being able to travel freely. Visiting relatives or friends requires jumping through hoops and most of the time your plans get cancelled bc the country next to you decides your every move. You don’t fully understand freedom until it’s taken away from you.

You do know those restrictions were put in place because palestinians were committing terrorist attacks?

0

u/star86 20d ago

I’m glad we both think terrorism is wrong. End the genocide!

Also, imagine living somewhere and suddenly someone comes in steals your family home you’ve been in for decades, hurts your family, pushes you out, and has a whole army to back them up… I wonder how’d you react.

u/Comprehensive_Ear164 19d ago

There's not a genocide. If you think what you described is accurate, you've been mislead and should look further into it. It's definitely not a black and white issue like you implied but if you take a big picture look at the history Israel is on the right side of it.

Time to sign a free passage act then. Either Palestine or un is not doing enough effort if this fails.

u/Ok_Top_8783 20d ago

It means Palestinians finally have the same rights as Jews.

2

u/Fun_Dig_7945 20d ago

So what does that look like?

0

u/Ok_Top_8783 20d ago

It can mean one state where people are treated equally. Or the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside Israel, with Palestinians able to return to Israel if they wish with equal rights

2

u/Fun_Dig_7945 20d ago

Wonderful ideas, is there a reason why they had to propose a two state solution in the first place?

1

u/Ok_Top_8783 20d ago

Who had to propose a two state solution?

Are you familiar with the history

2

u/Fun_Dig_7945 20d ago

So let’s address my first question - is there a reason why a two state solution was proposed?

2

u/Masenmat 20d ago

They do in Israel. They don't in Jordan.

1

u/Ok_Top_8783 19d ago

So Palestinians have a right of return do they, rather than to be confined to refugee camps or colonised
