While true he still holds company with 50 too who is also maga

46

u/SushiJaguar 15d ago

Yeah but that's kind of like saying Robin Williams is right-wing because he did a Hollywood awards presentation.

50 and Em are almost literally family.

u/imsoaddicted Spotify 15d ago

Literal family have cut each other off due to this MAGA bullshit. Literal blood and DNA. I need yā€™all to start having some standards.

u/Steezy719 15d ago

As someone who has cut off ā€˜MAGAā€™ parents, and has a MAGA Father in law, there is a difference. I cut off my parents because they were emotionally abusive and were always more worried about their own wellbeing more than being sufficient parents. My father-in-law, though he has questionable political views, is also the guy that would drop absolutely anything to help someone out. Political views donā€™t always define someoneā€™s character. Just so happens that a lot of MAGA are pieces of shit before Trump was president, and now are more open about it. As much as I hate MAGA politics, I would never cut off that man after all the selfless help he has provided my FiancĆ© and me.

Itā€™s truly unfortunate that they donā€™t see how similar most of us truly are at the end of the day

When your political views harm someone else youre an asshole regardless.

"Sure my dad paid someone else to be an asshole for him but hes so nice to me".

11

u/Steezy719 15d ago

Do you think Fox News is showing all the ā€˜harmā€™ being done to others? No, it spins and distorts their reality to ā€˜positiveā€™ outcomes, no matter how far the reach. Iā€™m not making excuses for them, but to think just because some uneducated people blindly follow a political side, and are ignorant to the whatā€™s actually going on, that they are pieces of shit, regardless if their actions and contributions to society speak otherwise; that is the same generalized hate that we are condemning them for. Iā€™m not excusing him, but I rather have a neighbor like him that helps out his community selflessly in anyway possible (which is ironically a democratic mindset) than have someone like you that just assumes because someone has a right leaning political stance, that a person is automatically generalized as a piece of shit bigot that wants to see the world burn. That generalization is the same hate that makes the right so toxic, but here you are doing the same thing. Doesnā€™t matter if you hate people for their ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or political stance, itā€™s still hate, and thatā€™s the core toxicity of why this country has gone to shit. Be better.

That's the point though. The biggest possible impact your father can have on society is not being nice to the neighbors. It's how he votes to reshape society the way he wants it to be. And he has chosen, through ignorance or hatred, to hurt a lot of people. To put people in concentration camps and for immigrants to continue to die at the hands of ICE.

It's incredibly dumb to act like judging someone for being a Nazi is the same as judging someone for being Jewish because you're the Nazi. Lol That just doesn't make sense at all. You can generalize people when you're literally talking about their chosen beliefs. It's not some inherent trait they can't help like their race or nationality, which is what your father in law has chosen to judge and harm everyone around him by.

Your father in law is a bad person, and this whole comment drips with "I only dislike maga people when their decisions affect me. They're fine when they just fuck over everyone else as long as they're nice to me."

3

u/Steezy719 15d ago

Wow, really missing the mark with that one. No, thatā€™s not how this works. Calling every republican a Nazi, is just ignorant. Thinking everyone in the US knows about every tidbit of current events is such a Reddit armchair statement. No, my 66-year old FIL isnā€™t on Reddit all day seeing all this shit happening in our country. If it doesnā€™t happen in the city of Pittsburgh, chances is he doesnā€™t know itā€™s going on. He didnā€™t vote for Trump because he wanted ICE in cities and concentration camps, etc, that shit wasnā€™t even a thing before Trump actually got into office. Heā€™s doesnā€™t know any of this is going on, which still is fucked up, but you canā€™t say he supports things he doesnā€™t know about. Stop relating it to what he does for me, that isnā€™t what I said. He helps EVERYONE. A black woman comes up to him and asks for help, he helps without hesitation. A friend needs money, he says ā€˜how muchā€™? Idc what people do for me Iā€™m used to not having shit, but I guarantee this man has contributed 20x more good to the world than you ever will. Yet you look down on him, fucking pathetic really.

5

u/permafrost1979 15d ago

It's not even that some random Redditor doesn't like your father-in-law: they're implying that you're a POS because you love your FIL and haven't cut him off šŸ¤¦šŸæā€ā™€ļø. This random Redditor who neither knows you, nor your family, wants you to break off a potentially transformative relationship* with your family, because the Redditor has principles and you apparently don't. That is wild šŸ¤¦šŸæā€ā™€ļø

*(because if FIL is truly kind and selfless, you might have more influence on his politics by being in his life than by cutting him off)

3

u/Steezy719 14d ago

That last line is exactly it, thank you. The only thing giving bigots and other hateful people power is they think thereā€™s a lot of them. Whenever they are outnumbered by everyone around them, they lose their power. Cutting people off is just letting them go be find like-minded hateful people somewhere else. Showing love and looking at them as individuals based off their character might actually make them look at others the same way and finally break the cycle. So many people are going about this wrong.

u/Geno0wl 15d ago edited 15d ago

but to think just because some uneducated people blindly follow a political side, and are ignorant to the whatā€™s actually going on, that they are pieces of shit, regardless if their actions and contributions to society speak otherwise; that is the same generalized hate that we are condemning them for.

The problem is that it isn't just the "uneducated". My old co-worker was very well educated and was also a kind person who volunteered at homeless shelters and donated money to kids cancer charities. But he was also super MAGA.

2

u/Steezy719 15d ago

Youā€™re right, their are some educated ones, I was just making a statement related to people like my FIL. But thatā€™s whatā€™s crazy about generalization. Helping the homeless, working charities, being nice to others, are some of the proud qualities democrats boast about. If you didnā€™t know their political leaning, youā€™d probably say they are a pretty good person right? Thatā€™s kind of my point. Itā€™s like a republican meeting someone, saying hey ā€˜this is a swell guyā€™ and learning heā€™s Muslim and then just hates him. So many people are using that same generalization on republicans now, than acting holier than thou. Iā€™m Democrat to the T, but that under the assumption the principal of the party was to help everyone attain a better life. Not just ā€˜ourā€™ group. I feel like we lost that.

1

u/Fair_Quail8248 14d ago

Even educated people can become shitty and brainwashed, exceptions exist everywhere but a big part of magas seem to be racist homo/transphobic misogynistic assholes that lack human decency and empathy.

-1

u/fuck_all_you_too 15d ago

Actively evil or weaponized stupidity. Either way too dangerous to be around.

Ive never wished someone harm because the TV told me its necessary, thats not being smart thats having morals.

-1

u/imsoaddicted Spotify 15d ago

Essentially what all these sentiments boil down to. And I bet you these people are white or from an immigrant group who somehow thinks they are exempt lmfao

0

u/Zero_Gravvity 15d ago

Political views are almost always a 1:1 reflection of character.

-8

u/Steezy719 15d ago

False. Not every republican wants to watch the world burn, and not every democrat wants to save the world. There are pieces of shit on both sides, and extremists on both sides are whatā€™s fucking up this country. Unfortunately, we only hear about the extremists on their side, as they only hear about the extremists on ours. Itā€™s the tactic that keeps us as a country divided, and divided, weā€™re weak.

6

u/Zero_Gravvity 15d ago

More than 50% of registered Republicans believe the 2020 election was rigged.

1

u/mike10dude 14d ago

wonder how many actually believe that and are not just lying when asked

1

u/Steezy719 15d ago

Cool? So theyā€™re not smart or calculated. Doesnā€™t mean they are pieces of shit. More than 3/4 of the world believe in some sort of God too. If they are wrong about that, are they bad people too? I swear these comments are just as uneducated as the people you guys think you are better than.

4

u/Zero_Gravvity 15d ago

As a consequence of the unfounded (and consistently disproven) belief that more than half of Republicans hold, hundreds of people invaded the U.S Capitol building in 2021 with the goal of armed insurrection. Several people died, more were injured, with over $2 million in damage caused. And much more harm than even that was planned, with several pipe bombs planted around the premises, and a gallows constructed in the courtyard for the Vice President and others.

This is a great example of ignorance and malice having no discernible difference in the outcome. This concept can be extrapolated to politics in general.

1

u/homer_3 14d ago

They do though. They are just nice to you because you're the right color.

-1

u/imsoaddicted Spotify 15d ago

Soā€¦ them being MAGA had nothing to do with you cutting them off. Just how they treat you. Got it!

3

u/Steezy719 15d ago

Absolutely wrong takeaway really. Actually was the nail in the coffin to be honest, and really gave me a vivid picture on the type of people they were. It was just a comparison on people of the same political stance showing complete opposite characteristics.

29

u/SushiJaguar 15d ago

That is having standards. Just different standards to you, and different choices. Nobody's obligated to sever a relationship over a political opinion. If Em values 50 more than he values your view of him, why would he do as you think is proper?

-5

u/imsoaddicted Spotify 15d ago

ā€œEmā€ values ā€œ50ā€ more than he values peopleā€™s rights, security, freedom, happiness. Itā€™s not about my view of him. Please do not have rocks for brains, I have to assume you are an adult and if you have seen what is happening in this country and still need me to spell it out for you then no amount of characters will be enough.

4

u/SushiJaguar 15d ago

I don't think that's an accurate claim to make. Yet, even if it were, that still would be difficult to criticise him for. Everyone looks out for "their" people first, and it's not for anyone to dictate whom is included. Ideally, everyone looks out for everyone else, but you've demonstrated already that you don't abide by the standards you want to set. According to you, Eminem's right to associate with 50 is violate because of 50's apparent political affiliation. His happiness in having a family member in his life is not of value to you because of that.

The natural counter argument is "but MAGA beliefs bad" and that isn't wrong, but is it even documented that 50 Cent is a full-on redhat?

2

u/thebrose69 15d ago

Em does value loyalty over everything else too though, and he brought 50 into the game way before this batshit crazy maga shit. But I have to agree with you that change will never happen as long as we continue to let maga thrive and survive and part of that might have to include cutting people off at times. I understand why Em still keeps his company, even though I donā€™t necessarily agree with it and it also doesnā€™t mean Iā€™m gonna stop listening to Em either

0

u/Bored_Amalgamation 15d ago

Your criticizing the standards for other people's standards. Get off your high horse.

2

u/sl1m_ 15d ago

and who says that's the "right" thing to do? you?

1

u/ItsMrChristmas 15d ago

Yes. The MAGA movement literally believes some people have no right to live just because of gender. That is objectively evil.

-2

u/permafrost1979 15d ago

MAGA does not literally believe that ppl have no right to live due to gender šŸ¤¦šŸæā€ā™€ļø Gtfo. They don't believe in giving certain ppl the access and rights that they want, and they think they can live and thrive w/o those. They don't literally want them to die šŸ¤¦šŸæā€ā™€ļø

0

u/kakka_rot 15d ago

that's sad for you and your family

I actually love mine and want to help them and try hard to

Did your family leave you when you got so addicted to crack?

2

u/imsoaddicted Spotify 15d ago

0

u/jabba-thederp 9d ago

Oh hell no so you're one of those unironically racist redditors

1

u/Alien_Way 15d ago

Wasn't aware. WHOLE MAN: trashcanned

1

u/kakka_rot 15d ago

50 too who is also maga

wtf no he isnt? He declined performing for him a bunch a time until then just kept showing up at his door with more trucks of money (50 LOVES money) and he finally said 'fuck it'

He's still vocally against him and supported biden

1

u/thebrose69 15d ago

Oh alright cool, glad to hear that what Iā€™ve been told likely isnā€™t true

1

u/kakka_rot 15d ago

Google is your friend.

Also remember just because a comment is upvoted doesn't make it true. I see people upvote total bs (ie Jackie Chan disowned his daughter for being gay) like every day on this website

Like 25 people upvoted you despite it being pure fiction is an example right there.

2

u/thebrose69 15d ago

You are correct. The people who upvoted me could be just as ill-informed as I am/was. Iā€™m happy to change my views given evidence as to why theyā€™re wrong, though the same canā€™t always be said for them

0

u/pipboy1989 15d ago

Does being MAGA become your entire identity in the States? Or is there a chance he might have other things that makes up his persona?

5

u/arteveci 15d ago

Most of my coworkers are MAGA voters. It shows if you start talking politics, modern history, or some economics subjects. Otherwise they seem to be normal "call me if you need anything at all" types of people. They will drive an hour to bring me, a known 'lib' a cut to spec piece of lumber on a Sunday afternoon because I don't have the right saw for it. Or offer to help the new guy at work move furniture. And a plethora of other normal human things. That said I've never seen bumper stickers, hats, tshirts or the like but I do know how they complain about establishment politics the radio/podcasts they listen to and what candidates they support. They seem completely blind to the accumulation of fascist themes because I think they see it as needed overhaul of existing systems to be less liberal.

3

u/wellrat 15d ago

You canā€™t be just a little bit fascist.

2

u/Neat_Leadership6182 15d ago

Reddit is not representative of the average American. The comments on political Reddit posts are full of the types of people that can't operate in normal society.Ā

1

u/ThatHoFortuna 15d ago

Does being MAGA become your entire identity in the States?

Yes, definitely. Experience has born this out over and over.

0

u/Festering-Boyle 15d ago

there ain half maga. you maga, you mega maga. full maga m'naga

1

u/SunTzu- 15d ago

Is 50 actually MAGA or just a libertarian? Because my impression has been that he's just one of those libertarians who end up voting for Republicans because they hate taxes. A useful idiot, but not MAGA.

2

u/Neat_Leadership6182 15d ago

50 is a greedy bastard, he's whatever gets him the most money. At the moment cuddling up to Trump is profitable, so that's what he does. I think he'd be among the first to tell you that he doesn't have a moral bone in his body.

1

u/thebrose69 15d ago

I was told heā€™s maga, though I suppose I canā€™t say for certain

1

u/Neat_Leadership6182 15d ago

God that's such a Reddit thing. You brought up, completely unprompted, that 50 was MAGA and used 50's MAGA tendencies as justification for judging someone who just keeps company with 50.Ā

When asked if 50 is actually MAGA you don't have a fucking clue.

Why feel the need to say anything? If you don't know that 50 is MAGA why say confidently that he is? Because someone on reddit told you he was?Ā

2

u/kakka_rot 15d ago

God that's such a Reddit thing.

What's even more reddit thing is that 25 people upvoted his blatantly incorrect comment.
