Why would Kid Rock have any visible or palpable change in his life if gas was $20 or $30 a gallon?

Bro will never feel it. The cost of everything we need to live could double and triple and he wouldn't have to change what he eats, wears, uses, how warm or cool he keeps his houses or where he goes or how often.

He will literally never feel what's happening to us.

Bob grew up with money. Daddy had some dealerships. Has no idea of the struggle for people whose parents didn't buy them everything they wanted.

[u/ToMorrowsEnd → u/Due_Mongoose9409]

Including mommy and daddy buying their music career.

[u/Due_Mongoose9409 → u/ToMorrowsEnd]

His parents did buy Bob all the recording equipment. Eminem and some other guys used to go out to Romeo on occasion specifically because Bob had the equipment, that definitely helped his development.

[u/senator_corleone3 → u/Due_Mongoose9409]

Yea he’s never had to actually struggle.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I’m in a weird situation where I had to take a new job is with an 80 minute each way commute, that’s about 1,000 miles a week. I have to fill my car up twice a week, but also am in a position to not care about gas prices in the least.

But I still very much do care, because I know that everyone else in my life will be feeling that pain. Maybe I’m just not cut out to be an asshole, or maybe just not rich enough yet. If any of the billionaires would like to treat this as an experiment, I am open to donations.

[u/EthanielRain → u/alek_hiddel]

You have empathy

[u/beardofjustice → u/EthanielRain]

Which we all know is a liberal trait that makes us pussies

[u/CubsFanCraig → u/beardofjustice]

I guess I enjoy being a pussy. What do I care? I’m married with children and am in my 40s. I don’t have to impress anyone at this point and no matter what my kids will never think I’m cool (the young ones does for now, but she’s less than 10 years from thinking I’m not). No shame in my game…except when it comes to letting others know I like watching pro wrestling and used to play a lot of Magic the Gathering. Nothing gets the panties wet like talking about having 4 pieces of the power 9 or sitting 2nd row for Moxley vs Hangman.

[u/Ziethen → u/alek_hiddel]

You should be more emission conscious anyways. That’s a lot of carbon output for a single person to be producing every single day. Not sure why you’d even consider that.

[u/alek_hiddel → u/Ziethen]

Because I still have to get to work, my life situation doesn't easily support a move right now, and given the overrall state of the world, dumping that much blame onto a single individual would be insane.

But good job shifting the blame for corporations down to the individual. You have done your job well.

[u/Hopeful-Doctor-7968 → u/alek_hiddel]

It's easier to blame someone you can just yell at for driving their car than actually trying to make changes by targeting a company like Exxon or chevron. It's performative, they'll tell you to be more carbon conscious while texting at a red light in their own car

[u/Ziethen → u/alek_hiddel]

At some point you have to take accountability for your own actions that are in your control. Corporations are definitely to be blamed but so are individuals who are too selfish. If all individuals would take more accountability then it would make a big difference. Don’t just hide behind corporate greed and use it as an excuse to make selfish choices yourself. That’s a lot of daily, weekly, and annual driving. You’re definitely in the top percentile of emitters.

[u/alek_hiddel → u/Ziethen]

Got ya. So when you feed yourself exclusively from your own garden, I’ll worry about my commute. Deal?

[u/Ziethen → u/alek_hiddel]

You’re driving 3 hours a day. That’s ridiculous. You know it is. Just finger point and continue to be part of the problem.

[u/alek_hiddel → u/Ziethen]

And you're burning electricity to argue with a stranger on the internet. It's easier to question things that I have to do in order to earn a living, than things you do for fun though I supposed.

[u/Ziethen → u/alek_hiddel]

You’re part of the problem. Millions of people make a living without doing the damage you do.

[u/alek_hiddel → u/Ziethen]

Yeah, so we’re just gonna run this loop. Everyone is part of the problem. But nitpick the specifics of my life, with 0 understanding of my life situation. You get to feel good about yourself for shaming an internet stranger though, and that’s life’s ultimate reward isn’t it?

And again, you’re part of a much bigger problem. Let’s attack our fellow humans, instead of the actual villains in this story. Let’s be morally outraged at the things the corporations have told us to hate. If we keep fighting the things they tell us to, we’ll never have time to fight them.

Anyway, back to enjoying life.

[u/Pornfest → u/Ziethen]

You’re also the problem. Follow your own advice and get off Reddit. But you won’t, you’ve already made an excuse why “This is different. I’m different. “ spoiled hypocritical behavior.

[u/alek_hiddel → u/[deleted]]

Because I have to drive for my job? Yep, total fucking monster.

[u/CubsFanCraig → u/alek_hiddel]

At this point I should not be shocked at the complete lack of empathy or understanding from people, especially on Reddit, and yet here we are where that dipshit and the other guy who points fingers so much his hand is probably curled in that position, lack any emotional intelligence or understanding or even at a minimum the ability to say, “wow man, the state of things I have to make that long of a commute every day to keep a roof over your head and food on your plate while not dying in a car accident. It would be nice if you have a desk job for it to be remote at least a few times a week so they can be conscious of the environment and the dangers their employees will put themselves through to make a buck. I hope things get better and until they do drive safe.” BUT NOPE! It’s good ol fucking Reddit where the most inhuman chuds love to see how many points they can score to arrive at the Bad Place. IT WOULD BE WAY TO FUCKING SIMPLE TO JUST COME CLOSE TO MY EXAMPLE SO I MUST SHUT OFF THE HUMAN SIDE OF MY BRAIN.

That said, your situation sucks and I genuinely fear for people like you where you have to risk that long of a commute each day. I think any time I want to bitch about my commute I’ll think about yours, and others, because me complaining to my wife about an annoying stop and go drive into downtown ain’t nothing compared to your drive. Stay safe brother and I hope your situation improves.

[u/alek_hiddel → u/CubsFanCraig]

Thanks. And yeah, I will eventually move. This came about very suddenly. I’ve worked for big tech for 13 years, the last 3 remote after they closed my home office. The job was travel 40+ weeks a year, so they didn’t care where I actually lived.

Then back in April I was told I had 30 days to decide. Pack up my whole life and move 4+ hours a way, or find a new job. My wife’s job has a pension that is state specific. The big problem, dad has dementia and mom needs a lot of help with him.

I made some calls, and an office I supported from time to time 90 miles away had an opening, and would double my salary for the trouble. So I took it.

As is I’m slowly working on getting mom and dad to move up here, and exploring all options.

[u/PedanticButCorrect → u/WitchesTeat]

Lol you act like things can’t get worse. Hold my beer

[u/WitchesTeat → u/PedanticButCorrect]

My guy I already lost my house to this idiot, my cat died in his carrier in the uhaul the day I moved out, and I was literally hit by a semi on the highway the day after I signed the sale papers.

I've spent the last 6 months waiting on surgery that I can't get without insurance, and I can't get insurance without work because I ended up having to stay at my mom's in a state so attached to the big red dick that they voted to not allow people with no income to get medicaid or marketplace insurance.

And I can't work, because I was hit by a fucking truck.

At no point did I suggest it couldn't get worse, but oh look at you, such an edgelord.

If there's one thing I have learned better than any other lesson, it's that everything can always get worse.

Hold my fucking beer, jackass.

[u/PedanticButCorrect → u/WitchesTeat]

Wow, are you okay? I wasn’t trying to disagree with you at all. You need to take a step back from the keyboard my friend and breathe a little bit, it’s unhealthy you misread so much intent into my message so easily and then spun up a hate filled message for nothing and no one. I would be embarrassed even typing that out knowing it came from the same brain I use to interact with people in real life, “jackass”

[u/CubsFanCraig → u/PedanticButCorrect]

Yeah…that certainly escalated quickly. I mean, I get it though. A lot of us are suffering and things that are seemingly innocuous or are an attempt at humor to at least not feel so crummy about the present wind up being triggering because that’s where we’re at with the amount of horseshit people have had to go through. I wouldn’t take it personally. People have hit their breaking points.

[u/PedanticButCorrect → u/CubsFanCraig]

Oh I know. I’d just rather people properly recognize and separate their trauma from random two sentence replies on the internet. I’m not their therapist

[u/KennyakaTI → u/WitchesTeat]

So then why does he care about who is President if it doesn't effect him. If he's saying Trump will make America great again then Trump should actually be doing things to make that happen. You can't just so oh well He's rich so now he doesn't need to care when he's propping up a politician

[u/WitchesTeat → u/KennyakaTI]

Because he wants to see his bank account go up.

It doesn't matter to him if he can feel it or not. It doesn't matter to any of them.
People have literally no idea how to quantify wealth.

Kid Rock is worth $150 million.

$200,000 is .1 percent of $150 million. .1, point 1%, a tenth of a percent.

If you have a dollar, a penny is 1% of a dollar. 1/10 of a penny is what we're talking about, that's how you would equivocate it.

The average American makes 1/4 of that. Do you get it?

[u/KennyakaTI → u/WitchesTeat]

And who the president is DOES NOT MATTER FOR HIM. Do you get it now

[u/WitchesTeat → u/KennyakaTI]

Of course it does. His interests aren't fueled by survival anymore.

They're fueled by ego.

[u/Own-Tangerine1404 → u/WitchesTeat]

Ego and greed. He gets money for rallying. Don’t think for one moment he isn’t gaining something from this. The guy is an over microwaved piece of turkey bacon with nothing on his mind but money, and critical thinking skills not much more developed than a dog flea. He doesn’t have to care, because he will never be required to develop that character building empathy so many of us have.
