Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk Angry/loud fuck you or i hope you die songs?

Hi! I’m looking for songs that are angry at a person (friend, ex, parent any is fine) but it has to be super angry and ACTUALLY loud. the only example i have is I hope you die - Lipstick homicide. I like rock like that is good but I’d like even louder and angrier too! open to any genres as long as it’s louddd. and has emotion

like, Give you hell by All American Rejects is not the vibe i’m looking for. I kinda like I don’t wanna be here anymore by Rise against but that’s not aimed at a person and .. haha could be louder.

I do like the chorus of I hate everything about you but three days grace even tho it’s a bit slower. lots of emotion!

prefer male voices (i’m a trans guy, but open if the song rlly fits)

If you have spotify or yt playlist feel free to link!

edit: i want the whole song to be loud, or most

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk i need women-led punk

I recently discovered Mannequin Pussy when I was looking at qotsa tour dates and saw them as the opener, and I've discovered a strong desire for more women-strong music. Punk primarily, but I'll take rock and metal as well. Really any strong/heavy music.

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk Songs that include "Bells"

This may be a weird one: I'm looking for songs that include bells in the music and/or the lyrics, but are not Christmas songs.

So far I know of "Hell's Bells" and "For Whom the Bells Tolls", are there any other? Preferably have some actual bells in the music, even if it isn't rock/metal/punk.

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk Recommend me a proper face-melting guitar solo

I'm in the mood for a face-melter. Take it for granted that I know the big, famous songs known for guitar solos (no need to recommend me Comfortably Numb). I'm seeking deeper cuts.

I'm taking Maggot Brain as my starting point, or Space to Bakersfield by Black Mountain for a more modern example.

Mandatory: lots of feel, great tone.

Speed is fine but not essential. Recommendations for slow songs are welcome.

Late 60s-early 70s is my favourite era but by no means mandatory. There are some great solos out there now.

Acoustic/folk options in the style of Bert Jansch are interesting too.

I'm looking for songs that are basically a big "Fuck you!" To whoever they're written about.

Ideally similar to songs like crying like a bitch by godsmack or or i forgive you by every avenue

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk Recommend me some obscure 80's music that went under the radar

I'm 47. I feel like I only know the music that was popular from the radio in the 80's and I feel like I have gaps in knowledge. I've only just discovered Roxy Music and Ultravox in the past 5ish years.

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk Help me melt my dad’s face off

My dad loves rock n roll. He grew up in the 60’s-70’s and was in a lot of cool places at the right time. He saw ZZ Top in a dive bar before they were big. He was neighbors with a band called The King’s Ransom and used to watch them practice in their garage. His all time favorite is probably the stones, but he also loves led zep, Foghat, The Who, Deep Purple, Cream, CSNY, CCR, Styx, etc. etc.

He constantly complains that “rock is dead” etc.

But his biggest gripe is that no song or guitar riff has given him “the feeling” since then. Granted, he’s in his 70’s and his search for songs is limited to the radio and maybe youtube.

I’m not as into rock as I’d like to be so I could only throw GVF and this band called The Kicks his way, he likes em fine, but no “feeling”

I know there’s talent out there and bands making great music, but I’m having a hard time finding some stuff that aligns with his taste and has some sick riffs or whatever to try to give him “the feeling”

What do y’all think? Any suggestions?

Especially interested in hearing what you think if you have similar tastes or whatever, but any are welcome!

Thanks!! 🤘🏽

ETA: Y’all are awesome!! Thanks for all the recs. I’ll update with what he likes after we’ve checked some out.

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk Name a band that had middling success, then cut an album that rendered them as “sellouts” which catapulted them to mainstream top-40 status, but also alienated their original fan base.

Look I just need something to agree with and I’m not answering why I want theses song. Also if you try to convince me about “how this isn’t right or something” then I will just skip over you even if your song it good. (also if you can you find a song telling off the Christian god)

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk What songs are about being a loser?

And I mean like, a stereotypical loser—someone with no friends, stays home playing games instead of going to prom/parties, and has niche/“weird” interests. Any genre/decade is welcome, though I do prefer 80s-2010s alt/rock and am looking for exclusively upbeat songs!! (no slow ones, please)

I’ve tried looking a little myself, I just can’t escape the Teenage Dirtbag and Creep recommendations.. they’re good songs, but I KNOW they’re not the only ones out there 😭

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk I need 90s rock I have never heard before

I’ve gone through the heavy hitters of the 90s but I need new artists to explore. The top 5 on my 90s playlist are probably Pearl Jam , RHCP , Radiohead , STP and the Black Crowes and I’ve linked my playlist below. I just need stuff that’s the same vibe as that but different enough I don’t feel like I’m listening to the same stuff every day. Thank you all

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk I’m listing 16 albums I love, recommend me something I might love

Edit: Forgot Rumours. You get 17 now.

Hi. First post here. I want to try something in order to find my next music obsession. I’m going to list 16 of my favorite albums (only one per artist/band, that list would look very different), so I’d love an album outside of these. I’m 31, so I’m still finding things I love since my ideal taste usually ends up being somewhere between 1968-1975. I love listening complete albums so this should give me a few days worth. I’ll try and give my thoughts to anyone that recommends something new and I listen, maybe rank them as well.

  1. Chicago - Chicago II (1970)
  2. The Beatles - Abbey Road (1969)
  3. David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust (1972)
  4. George Harrison - All Things Must Pass (1970)
  5. Billy Joel - The Stranger (1977)
  6. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV (1971)
  7. Supertramp - Breakfast in America (1979)
  8. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (1975)
  9. Billy Preston - Encouraging Words (1970)
  10. Boston - Boston (1975)
  11. Jim Croce - You Don’t Mess Around With Jim (1972)
  12. Grand Funk Railroad - Closer to Home (1970)
  13. Yes - Fragile (1971)
  14. The Ides of March - Vehicle (1970
  15. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac (1977)
  16. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Prounounced Lynyrd Skynyrd (1972)

  17. Steely Dan - Aja

Some artists/bands I love a bunch of songs, but just haven’t spent time with any particular albums front to back: Rolling Stones, The Who, Electric Light Orchestra, Journey, Rush, etc.

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk Want a new band to get into

I mostly listen to grunge and prog metal, but I’ve tried a whole bunch of prog metal bands and didn’t really like a lot of them. My favorite bands are Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, TOOL, Mastodon, Gojira, Primus, and Queens of the Stone Age. But I also like Karnivool, Meshuggah, The Ocean, Opeth, Nirvana, and Soundgarden. And a little Screaming trees, RISHLOO, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Skin Yard, and Jamiroquai

Sorry for naming so many, thought I should cover all the bands I like.
