Hello and welcome to the Bot resistance, a subredit dedicated to calling out bot accounts wherever they happen to be, we may be small right now, but we will grow!!

Your Duties here are simple, while exploring the reddit wilds, if you happen to come across or are messaged by what you suspect to be a bot account, you are to record your interaction with it and either Affirm or disprove thier bot-hood

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Some tipical ways of spotting-bot hood are the folowing:

1 - posts that cherry pick stuff out of previous posts in the thread or other posts, such as taking a name out of context or trying to respond

^{EXAMPLE:
You: wow thats just like Dragonball z where goku dose the kamehameha
Bot: Oh thats cool, so you like where's goku as well?}

2 - Constant messages dispite trying to cut something off

^{EXAMPLE:
Bot: hi i saw you were looking for art, do you need a commision?
you: no sorry i have gone with another artist
\}a couple days later*)
^{bot: hi how are you, would you like some art commisioned?
you: no thanks as i said
\}a couple days later*)
^{Bot: hi-}

3 - Non-commital agreement or disagreament/Ignoring statments you made in favour of awnsering a question

EXAMPLE:
^{you: \}ranting about a game you like*)
^{Bot: oh really? thats intresting
you: sorry that was unfair to rant on you
bot: what do you like about this character from this game?
you: uh hmm this is kinda sus....
bot: ah so you have strong feelings about this character then....}

4 - Non responsive or Bland/generic posts
^{this one is less an example type but also the most easy to spot, imagine if you will that you asked ChatGPT a question...dose this post look like something you would get as a responce? then it's probbly a bot.
addtionaly if they don't respond to other commenters within the same Comment thread, On one hand, this might just be people who don't like responding, but if asked a direct question and there is no responce or a generic responce over multiple comment archives (like 5 or more} then it is likly that they are a bot.)

5 - Recently Joined/Low karma
^{Unfortunaly this isn't always true, you do have the ocasional redditer who joins late or looses thier old account to start a new one, and i will be the first to say this IS NOT an initial confirmation of bot hood, HOWEVER if taken with the above methods of detecting bot-hood, it is simply more evidence to the pile.}

6 - Profile Filled with Generic posts
^{Much like #4 this is fairly easy to spot, as when looking at someone's user profile you can see the posts they make, if they have made a lot of Generic posts that you could imagine being spit out of ChatGPT or some other Predictive text bot that take things out of context or any of the other above methods, when paired with the stuff above the likeness of thier Bot-hood rises.}

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Well what can you do once you have confirmed you found a bot?

Sadly there isn't all that much you can activly do beyond blocking them, since most bots are able to fly just under the radar of comunity guidelines and as such no "rule" has been broken

THAT IS WHERE WE COME IN

while we can't activly shut these accounts down, as even if they do break guidelines and get banned another will pop up in it's place soon after, thus we just have to draw as much atention to thier bot-hood as possible, calling them out so to speak so they can't hide in the shadows

A bot's only power is the ability to get cheap upvotes on regurgitated text that is able to farm karma and thus engagment, so Downvote spam them, reply to the comment with "IM WITH THE BOT RESISTANCE AND THIS USER IS A BOT", fellow resistance members should try and upvote the person who commented to make sure it gets as much attention as possible without any engagment or karma

thus record your interactions and post a "FILE" on the Bot in question within this sub, with all the interaction you have had or seen, with enough time and effort our reports shall spread and an unlucky non-resistance memeber will avoid getting scammed/giving the bot engagment
