Experience Anyone else get a literal "high" / euphoria from Ashwagandha after severe chronic insomnia?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been dealing with a brutal bout of chronic insomnia since September 1st. It got to the point where my body was under massive physical stress - shaking, panic, and a constant, dull tension pain behind my eyes and around my nose from sheer exhaustion.

My doctor previously prescribed Trazodone, but it did the exact opposite of what it was supposed to do. It paradoxically kept me wide awake, wired, and agitated. The Clonazepam helped calm the extreme panic but never totally helped me recover or sleep.

Benadryl is the only one that helps me sleep but still felt the panic, Out of desperation, I decided to try Ashwagandha. I took it, and within an hour, the change was insane. The intense panic completely lifted, and the dull head pain started fading out because I just couldn't focus on it anymore.

But the weirdest part? I feel almost high and euphoric. It’s a totally floaty, super-mellow, almost "stoned" feeling. It feels like my nervous system was stuck in extreme fight-or-flight mode, and dropping out of it so fast has caused this massive rebound relaxation.

Has anyone else experienced an immediate, almost intoxicating sense of euphoria or a floaty "buzz" when starting Ashwagandha? Especially those who were completely starved of sleep? How long did this initial "high" feeling last for you before settling into a normal calm?

Vendor Report/Q Ordering Products to Canada?

As far as I am aware there are not any domestic sources. I was wondering with customs what might get flagged and not brought through? Is there any sites that I should avoid when shipping internationally? Any specific products, like phenylpiracetam?

Any that specifically ship fast? ND takes forever

Discussion Why does Aniracetam cause anxiety?

Hello!

500mg of Aniracetam is making me really wired and nervous with no cognitive benifits.
I tried taking it by itself or with choline suppliments, and still i get only negative effects.

Phenylpiracetam makes me a little anxious, but not as much as Ani and i can actually feel it helping me focus.

I have unmedicated ADHD and social anxiety, and thought Ani would help me at least a bit

Seeking Advice Piracetam vs oxiracetam for long term use and dose

Hello, I have never taken nootropics before but I want to start because university is getting very serious. I'm interested in having a simple, small stack that will increase my ability to focus and logical reasoning. I'm doing a math intensive course so I'm looking for nootropics that can help me with math. So far I think racetams are the best option for me, since they got what I'm looking for but I can't decide between piracetam or oxiracetam. Which one has a better impact when it comes to math thinking and information retention? What dose would be ideal for long term use? How long should I take breaks and for how long? Should I take something else to compliment this? Also, if you have any other recommendations that aren't piracetam or oxiracetam, please share them with me.

Seeking Advice what can i synergise with my adhd meds?

After a long uphill battle i finally bit the bullet and went to a psychiatrist. Diagnosed with adhd-pi and mild anxiety. I was prescribed ritalin IR and clonidine. I asked why I wasnt on vyvanse and he said most of his patients fare better on ritalin, and that i would only be on vyvanse/dexy if phenidates didnt work (adderall is banned in my country). Anyways, i didnt receive the ritalin yet because of a delay with my ecg results. Clonidine is working great so far.

Im mainly making this post because I want to know if theres practices, supplements or compounds that either amplify the benefits of my medication, mitigate the longterm-negatives or lower stimulant tolerance LONG TERM. I've noticed a boom in modafinil being promoted on social media (X and tiktok) but im cynical about it because everyone seems to have some kind of affiliate link for it to a grey market overpriced indian vendor. Checking reddit, most people do not like moda.

Anyways, i was moreso interested about bromantane, tyrosine/nalt, alpha gpc, agmatine, specific vitamins/minerals (ttfd, magnesium, electrolytes) or others like creatine, taurine, rhodiola, sabroxy, astaxanthin and whatever niche others that are often sold by nootropicsdepot. Ive seen a lot about cerebrolysin, semax, selank and dihexa but they seem overpriced for what they do. Cognitive enhancement is a low priority for me (I'm doing well by myself already) I care more about mood, motivation and long-term internal health.

Out of the ones I listed above I havent had tyrosines, agmatine, gpc, rhodiola, sabroxy, bromantane or most of the bespoke "nootropics" before. I'm no stranger to supplements though. Most of them just help with energy metabolism, sleep quality and feeling clean I guess - jackshit for my adhd though. My stack mainly consists of b1, b3, b12, e tocopherols, d3 k2, creatine, taurine, magnesium and trace minerals. I have NAC + selenium once a week and that helps reset a little. L-theanine and saffron are two extremely popular supplements that honestly feel dirty and do more bad than good for me. I think i saw something saying ginkgo boosts ritalin, though ginkgo never did much for me in its own.

Aside from all these compounds I would also love to hear if there were any dietary or physical tweaks (apart from gym i already do that) that have helped with adhd/medication. Ive commonly read that its good to drop caffeine when on ritalin as well.

Since im only just starting my adhd journey, I would genuinely appreciate any anecdotes on what has and hasnt worked. Everyone is different and thats fine.

I hope this post doesnt come off as greedy, ignorant or overboard - i say it's even better for me if i dont end up needing anything extra

edit:

as for anxiety, I was told not to worry about it. Anxiolytics and gaba-ergic things have historically always increased brain fog and aloofness for me anyways

to summarise, my priority is long term stability and maintenance. Cognitively im very sound, but maybe my decisionmaking could improve but I believe that can improve by itself through mood, sleep and energy.

Seeking Advice Cannabis and minor drug brain damage

Hello everyone,

I’m 17, and I’ve had a rough few years with substances. Around age 16, I got hooked on THC carts. It started with using once a week, quickly turned into every night, and eventually progressed to being high pretty much all day—even waking up at 2 AM just to hit it. I managed to stay sober for two months in the past, but I used nicotine to cope, which was arguably worse.

Things got really bad this past summer and at the beginning of the school year. I was vaping and smoking weed nonstop, drinking whenever I couldn't get access to anything else, and occasionally misusing other medications like tramadol.

About a month ago, something clicked. I started therapy and realized I couldn't keep doing this to myself. I am now four weeks completely sober from all substances, and a month ago I started hitting the gym four days a week.

The nicotine cravings are still there, my memory feels off, and I’m struggling with boredom and a general lack of pleasure—almost like I'm constantly craving a hit or a high. For supplements, I take a multivitamin, fish oil, and magnesium, and I'm currently stopping ashwagandha because of emotional blunting.

I’ve been reading a lot about potential brain changes from adolescent cannabis use, and it's making me really anxious that I've caused permanent damage to my brain. I’m wondering if anyone has insight on this or if I should consider certain nootropics or supplements to help recovery.

Thanks for taking the time to read, and I appreciate any advice or shared experiences forgot to mention i do have adhd

Experience Focus + Energy (what works for me)

So I use methylene blue (20mg+) and caffeine (coffee +400-600mg in pills)
and it works very well

Since i work at a marketing job and do business on the side I have energy during the whole day.

I don‘t see why methylene blue isn‘t talked about more.

Bromantane seems to be very subtle, where as MB is fully legal and actually noticeable.

Also: does anybody know what else I could try?

Also in the evening I take magnesium and melatonin to help me fall asleep faster.

Seeking Advice Suggestions for compounds that can help me "get up and start doing things" now that caffeine doesn't work.

Every few months I fall into a depressive state due to burnout or personal issues. As long as I have a good routine I'm doing fine, but when I don't, I'm stuck in a "purgatory" I need to move on from, but I cant. It's anxiety-driven executive dysfunction.

For example my avoidance recently caused me to spend some 70+hrs in 1 week playing a stupid video game, which is something I don't normally do. All while ignoring work and university obligations. I have a job offer I haven't replied to... You get the point.

In the past caffeine would help me get some energy and motivation to start doing the things I need to. Now it's just causing my anxiety to worsen 10x.

I've tried theanine and it doesn't work. It gave me crazy rebound anxiety. I was on semaglutide (for unrelated reasons) and although it seems to have killed my anxiety it also wiped out all my energy and motivation. I expect SSRIs etc to be the same only with weight gain and ED.

Basically I need to take something a couple times a year for 2-3 weeks so I can get my life in order. I need energy without anxiety. Addictive stuff are out of the question as I would never trust myself with them.

Any and all suggestions welcome, from herbs to antidepressants.

Discussion Right supplements for a combination of anxiety/nervousness and lack of motivation

Hi everyone!

Has been suffering from a kind of anxiety/nervousness for the last 9 months:

  • I feel like I suddenly get anxious/nervous attacks a few times per day, most of the time just at random moments, without any specific trigger. I also feel like some pressure on the chest (diaphragm or something related to the vagus nerve?).
  • Apart from that (or probably related to it?), I'm usually in a low mood and I can't find joy or feel specially motivated/happy for anything...

I have a healthy lifestyle: I eat super good, I try to go for a walk in the morning and get some sun, I do strength and cardio training at least 4-5 times per week, I have a good night routine before going to sleep, etc.. And I actually don't have a stressful job or life.

I take daily: a good multivitamin, magnesium complex (with enough bisglicinate) at night, omega 3, and vitamin D (just the days I don't get enough sun).

I got a bloodwork done a few months ago, around 1-2 hours after waking up, and my serum cortisol level was 10.5 μg/dl, so I think the problem is not due to high cortisol, and maybe it is more something like "adrenaline dumps" caused by an overactive sympathetic nervous system??

Anyway, I have been desperate about it and have been trying a few supplements trying to find a solution.

For the anxiety/nervousness:

  • Ashwagandha KSM-66 (in a complex with lavender, lemon balm and l-theanine): 300 mg in the morning and 300 mg at night, or just one time at night, 600 mg. Tried for a couple of months... In neither case it solved anything...maybe I just felt a little bit better...but I was also a bit more tired.
  • Ashwagandha Shoden 60-120mg at night: seems like much more powerful for me, and it is starting to "resolve?" the anxiety/nervousness attacks. I have been just on it for a couple of weeks and it is the first time the attacks have reduced even during the day. Just taking it at night trying to avoid any fatigue or decrease in the mood/energy/motivation (that are already a bit low) and also worried about taking too much of it and worsening or decreasing these even more, because it seems like the cortisol level is not my issue actually, but at the same time, it is the only supplement that is..FINALLY, stopping my attacks!!!

For the mood/energy/joy/motivation:

  • Affron 30mg in the morning: seems like it helps a bit? Not sure... very subtly actually... with the motivation/joy, etc...
  • Rhodiola 400mg, in the morning or midday: helps me keep the energy/focus a bit more during the day, but is not doing anything about the mood/joy part.

I don't know if I´m working on the right direction, and I should just keep with the Shoden/Affron stack more time and just see if my body can reset to a normal state, and maybe after the attacks finally end, the mood/motivation, etc...will just start to appear again...

Or if I'm not using the right supplements, I should change the approach!

I’m genuinely looking for answers and a solution to get my life back. I will be SUPER grateful for any feedback, suggestions, or education you can throw my way.

Thank you all so much for your help!

Seeking Advice I need help regarding CDP-Choline

I need help regarding CDP-Choline. I started using it 25 days ago. I’m a woman weighing 50kg, and my dosage was 400mg per day. However, three days ago, I experienced a drastic drop in mood—out of nowhere. I spent three days crying non-stop. I forgot to take the choline during those days and felt better. Could the choline have caused this? If so, should I take it less frequently?

Seeking Advice Recommendations for stopping ADHD meds?

When I first started adderall ~6 months ago life was beautiful, I could finally focus without it feeling like pure torture and could make myself do the tasks I actually needed to do that day rather than procrastinating the whole day while doing litterally anything else and feeling like a failure lol. Well since then I've increased my dosage multiple times with my psychatrist as it slowly seemed to stop working, currently at 30mg of xr in the morning and another 15mg ir in afternoon. Honestly feel absolutely nothing from it at this point and my focus/motivation feel even worse than my baseline from 6 months ago. Don't really want to increase again, as I think that'll just push what I'm experiencing now down another month. So I really want to stop the adderall, problem is I've been kinda struggling recently(emotionally) and its already made university very hard to get through, and I'm not sure I can handle stopping all stimulants and be able to keep up with life/university. Anyone got any suggestions that would help?

Vendor Report/Q Question about intellimeds

Placed a big order with Intellimeds recently: galantamine, phenylpiracetam hydrazide, fasoracetam. Gotta say I'm pretty disappointed.

Phenylpiracetam gets hyped a lot, compared to adderral. But I didn't feel anything at all on 200mg. Twice now, zero effects.

Fasoracetam also gets great reviews, sometimes used to treat adhd symptoms. Nothing at all.

Galantamine I've used three times now over the course of three weeks (for lucid dreaming WBTB). First time it did give me quite intense dreams, but since then it's been very mid (except the next morning hangover).

Aniracetam - some mild anxiolytic/sedative effects at high doses, but nothing else. Have tried ani from other retailers too and had similar effects (i.e. basically none). So can't really blame intellimeds here.

But I am curious whether others have experienced disappointing results from phenylpiracetam and fasoracetam in particular. Difficult to know whether I got a bad batch, or if I just don't respond well to these nootropics.

Discussion The Nerfing of the Nootropic Industry

This is a short reminiscing of the good old days, I'd say pre-pandemic, but mostly mid to late 2010s. Back when you could order pure racetam and modafinil tablets from sites like Nootropics Depot and Liftmode. Now I have to either find a substitute that does not have the same effect or take the more underground route to finding my preferred supplements.

It feels like being treated like a child. Yes, I'm aware of the risks of certain compounds, but every damn thing has risk. Hell, I could overdose on water pretty easily if I felt like it. Most of us who have been here from the days Nootropics Depot took Bitcoin are aware of the fact that all these restrictions are not about our safety.

It's all just really discouraging and makes me not want to even be bothered anymore, knowing that you can find a something that works perfectly to improve your quality of life then tomorrow there is no trace of it anywhere online. Am I being overdramatic or are any of y'all have a similar experience?

Seeking Advice How do you keep up with new nootropics and research?

Good tidings to you all,

I've lurked this community for years and rarely post to Reddit. Yet, I'm trying to get past my social anxiety and start to feel like I can communicate and participate.

Regardless of that little anecdote -- How are you all able to keep up with the latest research and products being released into the public sphere? I'm sitting here feeling out of touch seeing all of these numbers and letters mashed together for newer nootropics, and trying to understand how one would even go about:
1) Building an understanding of what this product is, i.e., where do you go for your primary/peer-reviewed research on these supplements?
2) Once an understanding or some type of characteristics are forming around the nootropic/chemical of interest, how would you go about figuring out its usecases [Presuming user reports are lacking/insufficient]?
3) Finally, risk management - if you were to try a nootropic/chemical of interest that does not have much peer consensus on its dosage and/or effects either short-term or long-term, how would you go about mitigating risk and self-reporting of the experience?

I know it's probably been discussed ad nauseum and I'm sure if I used the search feature I could do a fine literature review of my query. Nevertheless, I'd like to see how others keep up with nootropics research and stay at the forefront of the latest. Thank you.

Discussion Went from being insanely driven and successful to struggling to execute. Considering bromantane, would appreciate advice.

I'm 26M. Spent 3–4 years obsessively working on my businesses, and it paid off. I was extremely driven, focused, and could work endlessly. No nootropics or medications, just coffee and nicotine.

Eventually I decided to slow down and take a break after years of pushing myself, but ever since it's been a downward spiral.

The weird thing is I actually feel mentally sharper than before. I come up with better ideas, spot opportunities, solve complex problems and know exactly what needs to be done.

But my execution has gone to shit.

I've left so many things unresolved that they've stacked up. Whenever I sit down to work, I get overwhelmed by everything that needs doing. I'll start one task, notice something else, jump into that, discover another problem, and eventually get completely lost. Then I just want to stop working and chill, even though I genuinely want to get things done.

Another thing is how easily irritated I've become. I'm not naturally an angry or stressed person, but lately even people asking me simple questions can piss me off. My head is already full of responsibilities, opportunities I'm not acting on, and frustration about being stuck in this unproductive loop.

Sometimes I wonder if success made me too comfortable, but honestly I don't feel comfortable at all. I feel constantly pressured by everything I'm not doing.

For context, I consume quite a lot of nicotine daily through vaping and cigarettes, plus around 3 espressos a day. I've never really been into drugs or nootropics. Used to smoke weed years ago but quit, nowadays maybe once a year at most.

I recently tried L-theanine for stress. It seemed to help a little, but nothing significant. I also noticed some acid reflux, although I'm not sure whether it was caused by the L-theanine or was just a coincidence, so I stopped taking it.

Now I'm considering bromantane. I have a 90 mg/mL nasal spray and was thinking of using one spray in each nostril, although I haven't started and don't know the actual dose delivered per spray. I've also seen people mention combining bromantane with L-tyrosine, but I'm unsure whether that's beneficial or even advisable.

I don't want to become dependent on anything. I just want to regain the focus, discipline and execution I naturally had before.

Has anyone experienced something similar after years of intense work? Did bromantane actually help with execution, task switching and mental overwhelm, or did it just make you feel more stimulated?

Would you combine it with L-tyrosine or avoid that? And what about long-term effects on natural motivation, dopamine, libido, emotional blunting, tolerance and how you feel after stopping?

Would appreciate genuine experiences, good or bad. I'm also open to hearing that bromantane isn't the answer and that I should be addressing something else entirely.

Experience Daily Dosage Recommendation

I recently ordered and received Longvida, co2 Myrrh extract, and CoqSol from nootropics depot and was curious at to what doses/how often you guys take them.

Also, exactly what effects or benefits should I expect from these? I’m looking for mainly pain relief, mood boost, and physical energy/motivation.

I’m not expecting any miracles, but I did some research and just wanted to know a little more about what these do and how they help other people.

Discussion Have any language learners here used nootropics for faster acquisition?

I'm currently learning Japanese. I have quite a bit of free time to study/immerse daily, and I was wondering if nootropics could potentially accelerate my gains. My vocab retention isn't great (I've heard that PRL-85-3 and racetams can help this, though not sure it would be a good idea to take them for a year straight)

So, have any of you guys used nootropics for this? If so, which ones, and how was your experience? Thanks

Experience Did anyone ever experience withdrawal from moderate caffeine use?

I think I'm experiencing caffeine withdrawal symptoms: any negative stimulus triggers an immediate depressive reaction, accompanied by a severe drop in energy—specifically physical energy (even though I haven't been working out or physically exhausting myself).

I didn't drink caffeine that much. Usually it was 1-2 teaspoons of instant coffee daily, for like 8 years

This is the second time it’s happened. The first time was in the summer, without having taken anything else, and the state was identical

Consuming caffeine resolved it for a day. The state lasted for 4-5 days and was gone.

It’s the same situation now, after taking a caffeine for a few days. The break lasted 2-3 months.
