Experience Tell me the creepiest thing a child has ever said to you.

4.9k Upvotes

I’ll go first;

My 2.5 yo pulled my necklace out my shirt. No biggie, he plays with it often. I ask him “it’s beautiful right? I love it” & he dead pan looks at me and says “yeah, mema’s”. That’s what we all called my grandma who raised me and passed away almost 5 years before he was born. It was her necklace & he only heard us speak about her in passing convos, never about the necklace. Not super creepy but these kids man.

Experience I died for a few minutes... and now I am convinced that there is something after death

3.9k Upvotes

I never believed in anything. Not in heaven, not in the souls, not in the stories of people who said they had "seen the light." I'm a psychologist, and I always thought that consciousness was just a product of the brain. Until my heart stopped.

Three years ago I had cardiorespiratory arrest while I was sleeping. The next thing I remember was a deep silence. Not darkness, not emptiness. Silence. It was so dense that it felt alive, as if that silence were something.

I suddenly had the sensation of having left my body, but I couldn't see it from the outside. It was more of an expansion. I no longer had limits, no time, no space. But somehow I was still me.

And there I felt it. A warm, familiar energy. I didn't see her, but I recognized her with complete certainty: she was my grandfather. There were no words or images, just direct understanding. A kind of invisible hug that told me: everything is fine.

Then a sound appeared, low and constant, like a rising vibration. And around, thousands of lights. Floating, beating. Each one with a different identity. And I knew, without anyone explaining it to me, that they were souls.

When I was about to join them, I felt a pull, a force that tore me from that place. A blow. And I came back. A paramedic was reviving me. My partner was crying.

From that day, everything changed. I'm not trying to convince anyone, but what I experienced was more real than anything in this world. And since then, when I accompany people who are grieving or close to dying, I sometimes perceive that same vibration in the air. A deep calm, impossible to describe.

I don't know if it was "the afterlife", or just a state of consciousness that we still don't understand. But I know what I felt. And since then, I am no longer afraid of death.

I was clinically dead for a few minutes. I felt absolute calm, I recognized my grandfather without seeing him and I saw thousands of lights that looked like souls. Since I came back, I am sure that death is not the end.

Experience Something keeps "dripping" on me but there's no source. What it might be??

First photo - Two weeks ago. Laying in bed, can't sleep so I decided to watch one more video. It felt like a bad idea but I carried on, and got hit with a phantom drop. While I was in no position to "accidentally" spit on myself or something. Ceiling is as dry as it can be too. You might know that feeling, when there's no logical explanation for what just happened, but it happened as clear as day. Like a deep pit in my stomach. Previously I got this "dripping" sensation here and there, but nothing visual until that day.

Second photo - Just 10 minutes ago. Smoking a cigarette, scrolling reels. I guess I raised my hand to my face to smoke, but got hit by that *thing*. Mucus? I don't know, but felt really shocking as the density is so much intense. That also instantly eliminates the idea of spitting or something. I would feel if I coughed up or sneezed something like that, right?

What do you think is happening? Technophobe demons?

Experience What paranormal experience still gives you chills when you think about it?

1.2k Upvotes

When I was 17, I stayed home alone while my parents went out of town for the weekend.

The first night, I woke up around 3 a.m. because I heard someone walking slowly down the hallway. I assumed it was just the house settling, until I heard three knocks on my bedroom door.

I didn't move.

Then I heard my mom's voice whisper, "Sweetheart, open the door."

The problem was that my mom was hundreds of miles away.

I grabbed my phone and called her. She answered half asleep and confirmed she was still at the hotel.

While we were talking, something on the other side of my bedroom door whispered, "Why are you calling her? I'm right here."

I stayed on the phone with my mom until sunrise and never opened that door.

To this day, I have no explanation for what happened that night.

Has anything paranormal ever happened to you that you still can't explain?

Experience Our Mimic showed itself.

1.3k Upvotes

UPDATE: So, since this post, I've reached out to a couple of preachers for the safest way to handle this without bringing harm to my family. I got the usual pray and place Bibles and a crucifix in each room. To answer a few of y'all's comments: I am not schizophrenic. I do struggle slightly with depression, but I don't think that has anything to do with it. I've never hallucinated before except on CBD gummies (story for another day). I haven't acknowledged it since. I've definitely heard it. Last night all 3 of my cats slept on my bed which is definitely unusual for them. One acted as if he was scared to death. Carbon monoxide is out because I have a detector. I don't feel like we're unsafe yet. I'm definitely not leaving. It's my house and the damn thing can move out for all I care. No more sightings though. I hope it was a one time thing 🤞🏻

We've been living in our house for almost 5 years. I'm sensitive to the paranormal. I hear and see things easier than my family does. Ever since we've moved into this house I've had some weird feelings, like I'm being followed and watched. My son (12) and I have been hearing a Mimic. It sounds like us and our cats. Coughs, voices calling out to each other, even sneezes. We hear it mostly at night time. My kids are away on vacation with my mom, so it's just my husband and I at home. Tonight, while I was getting a shower, my elderly cat started acting strange. She puffed up and started hissing at the bathroom door, which I left open because it's just us. I kept talking to her and telling her to calm down. After I finished washing and rinsing my hair, I saw it. Through the shower curtain, I saw a doppelganger of my husband standing in the doorway. Silent and emotionless. I said "Jesus baby! You scared me!" Nothing. I was gonna open the curtain but I was filled with this overwhelming feeling of dread. My heart started racing in my chest. I rinsed my face to calm down. It was gone after that. I turned the shower off, grabbed a towel, and rushed back to my room soaking wet. There was my husband. DEAD ASLEEP. He wasn't even wearing the same clothes. I am completely freaked out. We've been hearing it but we've never seen it. I'm scared that me speaking towards it is gonna end badly. Cardinal rule: do not acknowledge it. I feel like I broke that rule. I had to vent this somewhere.

Experience Passed My Dead Friend About 20 minutes ago

6.8k Upvotes

He ended his life at the end of May. I just passed him going the other way in his Lexus, and he waved and pointed at me. I hit my breaks and looked in the rear view, but the road was empty. I saw his car approaching me for about 4 seconds and thought “damn that looks like Ryan’s Lexus”, then “damn that looks like Ryan too!” Then “he just waved at me!” To no car to be found behind me. The road this happened on is one he and I would meet on at the end of to go hiking during the fall and winter.

Experience Gettysburg, Pennsylvania is for sure haunted

Hello everyone, I haven’t posted in this subreddit in a long time, but I have something really interesting that I can’t explain. My boyfriend and I took a random last-minute trip to Gettysburg, which is only two hours from me since I live in a nearby state. The drive was nothing that’s a normal distance for me.

It’s what I experienced once I got there that really stood out. I didn’t know Gettysburg was so haunted until I went on a ghost tour and experienced it firsthand with my boyfriend. We arrived at the location, which was a historic house on the main street of the small town a cute old house, exactly what you’d expect for the time period. My boyfriend asked to use the restroom, so the tour guide took us inside. It was basically a gift shop with all sorts of things inside. She led us to a bathroom underneath the stairs. Okay, cool I had never seen anything like that before. As I was waiting for my boyfriend to finish using the bathroom, I heard a bell go off. I assumed someone had opened the door and walked into the house. I went back to playing on my phone. When my boyfriend came out, we walked into the gift shop, and that’s when things got weird. We were looking at all the paranormal devices you could buy when another couple and the tour guide came in. She was talking to all of us when the same bell I heard earlier rang again. I turned around because my boyfriend was standing right next to it, so I thought he did it. But he never touched the bell. I was mind blown I’ve never experienced something like that firsthand, only in YouTube videos.

We all looked at each other, and the tour guide said, “Oh, that’s Tommy.” I said, “WHO??” She explained that he likes to ring the bell. For the rest of the beginning of the tour at the house, whatever it was kept ringing the bell while she talked. It was so creepy.

I also have some pictures from the end of the tour when we were standing in front of the battlefield the sky looks crazy.

Experience My mother passed away but I believe this is a sign from her

Post image
1.9k Upvotes

I was at the mall in 2024 and listening to a song that reminds me of my mother who passed in 2016. The song was Welcome Home Sanitarium by Metallica. My mother struggled with mental health issues so its relatable for me when I listen

Anyway as a child she used to call me "Poppet"

One of my only memories as a child that isn't fuzzy or lost for me so the fact I randomly saw and looked down at that exact time really makes me believe

I've looked into spiritual signs alot, attended psychic groups and I believe this is a sign from my mother

Maybe not proof from someone else's perspective but it's quite literally the best sign I could've hoped for

Experience I live in the heart of Appalachia and this is easily the most terrifying story of one of my experiences.

2.2k Upvotes

This story may be short, or it may be drawn out. I am recounting these events as I type as it was honestly one of the most horrifying things I have experienced, and it brings me genuine stress to think about. This happened maybe 2-3 years ago. I live in southern West Virginia, and have for my entire life. The woods and mountains surround every direction you look, and night time is a darkness that you can never dream of unless experienced.

I was with a friend, I'll call him Mark. Mark was at my house one evening, doing the usual things, watching UFC, playing xbox, etc. It was extremely late when we finally got bored and decided to go for a walk on a nearby trail to smoke a joint. This is not a particularly long trail, but it is very dense in the woods that surround it, and it is easy to get freaked out when thinking of your surroundings. We finally get to about halfway into the trail (about 30 minutes in), where we stop, pack our joint, and stand on the trail to chill and talk.

The forest is very alive tonight. There are always noises in the woods but the amount of animal activity for the time was unsettling (at this point it was probably past 1 am). This was strange and kind of eerie, but not alerting as any sort of predatory animal in the area may cause a disturbance. We finish smoking and continue our walk when almost immediately the forest falls dead quiet. And as soon as the forest goes quiet there is a voice. It almost sounds like a mocking, humanoid voice, shaky and uncertain. Almost like an old children's toy, like the ones with the crackly speakers and robotic voice, if you know what I mean. This immediately sets us off. We bolt directly down the opposite length of the trail, but the sound does not gain distance. It doesn't get closer, per say, but no matter how far we ran down the trail, this eerie voice remains the same volume, going over and over with no quieting or stopping. At this point, I am convinced that we are in genuine danger, something I have felt very few times. Finally, after sprinting for who knows how long, we exit the trail, grasping for breath and almost at the verge of tears of how frightening this was. We begin to exit the trail and about 5 minutes from the exit, there is a bone shaking, heart stopping, murderous scream from directly behind us. I know what a mountain lion sounds like. This was not an animal. This was not someone playing, or watching a movie. This scream sent birds flying from nests and made my heart drop into my stomach. It was the most genuinely depraved and violent scream that I have ever heard.

This is a true story that I have only told to maybe 3 people, all of whom seem to brush it off as false. I've never been a person to push for the existence of the paranormal or spiritual, but I genuinely believe I encountered something inhuman in those woods.

Edit: I know I will receive questions such as what the voice was possibly saying, or to explain the area and what happened after. I genuinely can not remember what the voice was saying, if anything intelligible. I don't know if I could understand it then, and I certainly can't recall understanding it after several years of blocking it out of my memory. All that I recall is that it was a fluctuating voice in pitch, shaking, almost just joining sounds together. After running from the scream at the end of the trail, we ran to the car which was only about 5 more minutes from the trail, so we got there relatively fast from sprinting.

Experience My son’s “imaginary friend”

We bought a house from a widow and shortly after we moved in my son started making a “doll” out his clothes and calling it “Lil Jimmy” he takes him outside and they play, they play board games and my son will talk to him. One day my son said “Lil Jimmy looks my age (10) but he says he’s 72” so I did some googling and found out the widow’s husband was named James Jr. (Lil Jimmy) and was 72 when he died while on hospice care (so probably in our house) Ive taken Lil Jimmy apart to wash him since he gets kind of crusty playing outside and the lights would flicker, so I stopped doing that. Other than being weird I don’t get any bad vibes from Lil Jimmy and our pets will cuddle with the thing my kid made, so he’s probably a nice spirit. But that’s my paranormal story.

Edited to add I blocked out any personal information from the obituary and group text.

Experience I woke up from a dream that said “DO NOT GO TO SEA.” The next day this happened.

1.2k Upvotes

A few days ago I had a really weird experience and honestly I still don’t know what to think.

For some context, me and my boyfriend went camping and were planning to go paddle boarding. We originally wanted to go out on the sea because it’s something we both love doing and have done before. The night before though, I had this really vivid dream. I was holding an old button satellite phone when it suddenly started ringing really loudly and flashing a green light. Then a message popped up that just said, “DO NOT GO TO SEA.”

I woke up remembering it so clearly that I told my boyfriend about it. We both thought it was weird, so we decided to paddle on a river instead.

What we didn’t realize until afterwards was that the river was actually connected to the ocean.

Everything started off completely fine. The weather looked good and the water was calm. Then out of nowhere the weather changed. A really strong wind picked up and the river became insanely choppy. There was nobody else around. I ended up completely soaked, freezing, and with mild hypothermia. The only way back was paddling against the current, which was exhausting and honestly pretty scary. At some point I just wanted to give up.

When it was all over, I suddenly remembered my dream and the fact that the river was actually connected to the ocean. I know it could just be a coincidence, but I can't stop thinking about it.

Has anyone else ever had something like this happen?

Experience My husband and I drove through Mississippi and I think we fell through some kind of vortex

1.2k Upvotes

My husband and I are newlyweds. We went to Florida for visit family and drove back north Friday afternoon/evening towards our home in northwest Missouri. To clarify, we were driving towards tunica for the night to break up the 17 hour drive and get some sleep at a fun hotel. Somewhere around Jackson is where things started to get weird.

Our GPS took us on a “shortcut” off the highway. As the sun was setting we went through a town called vaiden. This was maybe 7:30 or 8sh. I remember telling my husband the town had a haunted vibe, or just some bad energy and he agreed. We kept driving as the sun went down and things got very rural.

Please understand my husband and I are from rural Missouri and have lived across the country in some spooky places including Atchison KS if you believe in the devils portal or whatever. We are very used to being on a dark stretch of road at night. This was different than anywhere we’ve ever been.

It felt like we were constantly turning in circles. For about two hours we were driving and the gas gauge on our F250 didn’t move; like at all. Our truck is brand new and gets moderate gas mileage at best. We stayed at 3/4 of a tank exactly for hours? Typically we stop on a trip every two and a half hours.

Now the power of suggestion. We kept talking about how this didn’t feel right. Every few hundred yards we would see houses but none of them had any lights on. My husband said that’s strange it almost seems like the highway is abandoned, more lights should be on at 8pm. Next house we pass- every light on. This happened multiple times. We would say we hadn’t seen something in a minute and that thing would appear.

We barely saw any other cars but the two times we did we saw a string of four cars exactly the same make and model driving in perfect proportion to one another. Some kind of white suv. Okay maybe a coincidence? It happened again. Like a glitch just a few miles apart.

We saw another car with its hazards on. The hazards turned off immediately after we passed them.

My husband only saw a couple cars in the rear view mirror but one followed us for a few miles. My husband described seeing it as a truck with LED lights one moment and a sedan with amber lights the next, then, back to being a truck with LED. This was all in the span of maybe ten minutes with no outlet for someone to turn off and get on again.

At one point in the trip we drove through a small town before getting back on route. This was maybe another hour in at 9pm. We saw no people. cars were moving and lights were on but no one was outside. We didn’t see anyone in fast food restaurants or out in parking lots. We thought nothing of it at the moment but looking back, isn’t that strange?

There were also no animals. Just a few bats. Being from a rural area we keep an eye out for deer, raccoons, armadillos, or other critters when driving at night. We only saw one deer at dusk, and it wasn’t moving at all. It seemed frozen. It was looking at us but its ears didn’t twitch, it don’t run away, it just stood perfectly still. Its head was also really small but maybe that’s just the deer in Mississippi.

Speaking of animals we travel with our lap dog. He’s a senior pup and he’s ridden on my lap all over the country. He couldn’t seem to settle down on these back roads. He whined and shifted way more than usual.

I think the biggest thing for me was the chills I had the whole trip. Like tingling instinct type chills. Time didn’t seem like it was passing normally. We felt like we were in danger.

As soon as we got back on the interstate everything seemed normal again. Animals, people, other cars, the gauges in the truck, my uneasy feeling- all back to normal. Lights were on in businesses. People were outside. My husband, who is normally very unshaken, returned to his normal self. All of my texts came in at once- my mom texted me about two hours before when the weirdness started that she had a sinking feeling about me, and whatever I was doing I needed to be safe. I called her and said for the last two hours she had a mother’s instinct that something was just very wrong.

I want to end by saying my husband and I are very practical people. He is in the trades and I am an educator and caretaker. We both have travelled back roads of the country in all weather at all times completely fine, sometimes a little creeped out by the darkness, but fine. Our truck is also almost brand new and works well on long trips. We have taken it on a road trip through another rural area recently in Kansas and all the gauges worked. As a science teacher I know the behaviors of flora and fauna well. While we are devout Christians, we are scientists and take a very level headed approach to the supernatural. I believe God saved us from whatever vortex or ley line or something we drove through last night. Lastly, my husband and I aknowledge that we have both taken SSRIs in the past but we would never harm ourselves or others, we love life.

TLDR- we went though a stretch of rural Mississippi where time and space seemed to turn in on itself. Too many coincidences. Do you know anything about this part of the country and paranormal activity?

Experience I swear I could fly as a kid and my sibling remembers it too

1.1k Upvotes

I know how this sounds, but I’m just going to say it exactly how I remember it.

When I was around 8–9 years old, I used to literally fly. I’m 100% sure this wasn’t a dream. I remember it way too clearly, and it didn’t happen just once. It happened so many times that it felt normal back then.

This took place in my grandparents old house. The house itself was really old like traditional wooden style, kind of worn down even back then. To get upstairs, you had to go through this dark hallway, and the stairs weren’t even proper stairs. It was basically a steep wooden ladder, like something you’d see in old Asian homes. The whole place was always dark. I don’t even remember there being proper lights. And my bedroom was upstairs.

Every night, I was terrified to go up there. I always felt like something was behind me, like I was literally being chased being chased. That fear felt so real that I’d panic and start running towards the stairs to get downstairs as soon as possible.

Whenever I wanted to come back downstairs, I wouldn’t climb down the ladder. I would run, genuinely thinking something was chasing me, and then I would just… jump.

Like fully jump off from the top.

But instead of falling, I would slowly float down. Not even fall, more like glide or levitate. I’d land safely every single time, super smoothly.

It didn’t just feel like floating. It felt like something was holding me. Like invisible, giant hands were lifting me and gently lowering me down. Not grabbing or hurting but just supporting me and placing me safely on the ground.

I never got injured. Not even once.

I never questioned it back then. I wouldn’t even turn back to look at the ladder. I didn’t stop and think, “Wait, I just flew.” It just felt normal, like my brain didn’t process how weird it was.

This happened over and over again. Not once, not twice ,this was just how I got downstairs.

I kept this to myself for years because obviously, it sounds insane. I thought maybe I was just imagining things or mixing it up with dreams.

But about a year ago, my sister and I were talking about that house ,how creepy and dark it used to be. And out of nowhere, we both brought this up.

At the same time.

We had NEVER talked about this before.

And we described the exact same experience. Running, feeling chased, jumping and then slowly floating down safely. Even the feeling of being “held” or guided down.

We both swore on our LIFE we weren’t lying, and it didn’t feel like a dream to either of us.

I don’t know what to make of it. Maybe it was some kind of shared childhood hallucination? Adrenaline messing with memory? Or something else entirely?

EDIT : A lot of people were saying this sounds like an episode from Otherworld where someone had a similar experience as me. After seeing so many comments about it, I did check it out, and even I was kind of creeped out by how similar parts of it sounded. I just want to clarify that I genuinely didn’t even know that this otherworld thing existed before posting this. But this is my own, first hand experience. I didn’t copy it from that episode or anywhere else, I’ve remembered this for years and only recently talked about it.

Also, if so many people in the comments are describing really similar things, that kind of shows this isn’t just one copied story. And there is a pattern to this flying thing which makes this whole thing even more scary and confusing. Especially how many of us experienced it around stairs .

The part that really got me was the siblings in that episode not talking about it and then later realizing they both experienced the same thing. That’s exactly what happened with me and my sister too, which is why it stuck with me so much.

Experience My wife can see things I can't

Post image
456 Upvotes

This entire story is 100% true. This dates back about a year and a half ago, back when my wife (19F) and I (20M) were dating. We'll call my wife Alice for anonymity. When we started dating, I lived in an apartment with my friend in the city, while she lived with her family out in the country about an hour away from me. When we were still within the first few months of our relationship, she expressed the fact that she could "see things" that other people couldn't. I asked her what that meant. She said, "spirits, dead people, and anything that doesn't want to be seen." She also described have an acute sense of when something evil was near.

Alice said that she had always had this "gift," if you could even call it that. She recounted times when she had stayed at her grandmothers house and saw a dark figure looming in the corner.

Countless times when she would come to the apartment I lived in she said she saw a young girl outside, most of the time around the area where I would park my car. She would point out the spot she saw the girl; playing in a tree, sitting on a curb, or down by the pool area. This didn't creep me out since Alice said that the girl was friendly, and posted no threat. Alice also said she knew that whatever got the girl killed had to do with an evil man. I wasn't quite sure what that meant; an abusive father, a serial killer, or some sort of gang. She said this caused her to not exactly like me. No harm came to me, but Alice said I was always getting dirty looks.

Anyway, throughout the next few months of us dating, Alice continued pointing out "people" she saw; sitting in an empty seat on a roller coaster, walking through an aquarium, or just by the side of the road. I'm sure she didn't tell me everything, as I know she saw a lot.

However, this post is about one particular night. I was driving Alice home super late from a day out. As I parked in the small gravel plot next to the house, she leaned in to give me a goodbye kiss. This goodbye kiss turned into a full-blown makeout session, and we were all over each other. Then, all of a sudden, she froze, staring out the windshield of the car. Seeing that she had stopped kissing me, I backed up. She wasn't moving. "What is it babe? What are you looking at?" She said nothing, just pointed. I looked where she was pointing at the back corner of the house behind the porch. I didn't see anything. "It ran off." She said, finally breathing again.
"I'm sorry, what the hell?" I snapped, turning to her. "What did you see? What was that about?"

"I saw some...thing. Behind the house. It looked at me. It SAW me." I had chills and goosebumps running up and down my body. Alice told me once that the things she saw never made eye contact. NEVER. They did not want to be noticed or know people noticed them. This thing she described knew she was there looking at it. Alice said it looked like a tall shadow. All she could see were its eyes, and they were trained on her and her alone. "Holy hell." I muttered. "Where did it go?"
"Back to the woods." She replied. I breathed a sigh of relief. I walked her to her front door just to make sure it didn't come back. The entire drive home I kept checking my rearview mirror to see if it was chasing my car. Let's just say I was incredibly paranoid the rest of that night and I barely got any sleep.

I have included a picture of her families porch, with the circle showing where she saw the thing looking at her (see above photo).

I have always been a believer in the supernatural and paranormal, so obviously I believe her story and I will always believe her whenever she says she sees something. I believe she is a medium, similar to that of Lorraine Warren from The Conjuring. I do not believe she is psycho or crazy or has some sort of mental disorder.

I saw the way she was staring out of my car. That look was not fake. The fear in her eyes was real.

Skip forward to present day. Alice and I are now happily married with a beautiful 4-month-old daughter who we will call C. She is such a happy and smiley baby who looks a lot like Alice. I also believe she inherited the empath abilities my wife has. I've witnessed C staring blankly at a spot where there is nothing or no one to stare at. I think Alice has starting noticing this too.

I'm not scared of this kind of stuff. Most of the things my wife sees aren't evil or have evil intentions. Most of them are just spirits of the deceased, lost and confused. But there's a few times where she sees something lurking in the shadows. Waiting. Watching. Looking at her.

I'm just sharing this now because I need to know: Has anyone else experience anything like this? With a partner, friend, or even yourself? Any questions you have I would be happy to answer.

Edit: Wow. So many negative and condescending comments. I've been accused of using AI and writing a fictional story. I am a writer and I remember this experience quite clearly so some things have been written as if for a book to make it readable. But damn. Also for anyone wondering, my wife has been to a psychiatrist multiple times, but was only diagnosed with ADHD. No bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, etc.

Experience Something rode in the car with us and we were too scared to say anything.

2.0k Upvotes

This happened back in 2012-2013 I think, when I was about 15 years old. I’ve never talked about it with anyone except for my dad who was there with me. Years later I get goosebumps thinking about it and I’m curious if anyone else has experienced something similar.

After visiting a friend’s house all day my dad came by to pick me up. It was in the evening and had just gotten dark. My mom was waiting for us to get home so we could all eat dinner. After picking me up, my dad had to drive about 15 minutes on a long, winding dark road surrounded by nothing but forest. To give some context, we lived on a nearby military base at the time and this road was attached to the back entrance of the base which wasn’t used very much. However my dad liked using this entrance because it was closer to our house and it would’ve taken us a lot longer to get home if we drove all the way to the main entrance on the other side of the base.

My dad picked me up from my friend’s and we start driving home. I’m in the passenger seat. We’re talking about random things - school, my sister, what mom might’ve made for dinner. We’re driving up the long road and it is very, very dark. There aren’t any other cars on the road. All you can see when you look out the window are the trees and lots of shadows.

My dad and I had been talking to each other but after a couple of minutes it seemed as if our conversation slowly faded out. I remember sitting there in my seat and feeling cold all of a sudden. Which was strange because the heat was on in the car. Gradually I started to feel a weird sensation on the back of my head, as if I was being watched.

I stayed still and silent, keeping my eyes on the road in front of me. I saw my dad out of the corner of my eye doing the same. I figured he was probably just focused on the road and not thinking about anything in particular. The car we were driving in was a mini van with two rows of seats behind us.

For some weird reason, I began to feel a very strong impulse to not look behind me and like something was in the very back row of the car. And if I didn’t say anything or acknowledge it, there wouldn’t be a problem.

I think two minutes went by (felt like longer) until I saw we were approaching the back gate of the military base with all of its bright lights. We checked in at the gate and drove to our house.

We pulled into the driveway and while the weird feeling of something in the backseat had gone away, what I thought was strange was that neither my dad or I made a move to get out of the car once he parked and turned the car off. We also still hadn’t talked in a couple of minutes.

Okay, I thought, maybe he’s just being slow getting out. But he didn’t budge after a couple seconds. I turned and looked at him, wondering what was up. And interestingly he was already looking at me with a funny expression on his face.

“What?” I asked him.

He shook his head and kind of gestured towards the back of the van before saying “When we were driving, did you feel something weird? Like someone was in the back of the car?”

I got instant goosebumps and said yes. I told him I had felt it and didn’t want to say anything about it while it was happening. I remember he laughed kind of nervously and said he hadn’t wanted to say anything either or even look at the rear view mirror. He said he kept his eyes on the road and didn’t look back.

I don’t know how to explain it, what it was, or why we both felt the same thing at the same time, but that will definitely stick with me forever.

Edit: Since some people were asking, this happened outside of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri (USA). The road we were on passes through the Mark Twain National Forest.

Edit #2: Just got off the phone with my dad. I asked him if he remembered that drive and he said he remembered it clearly. He said he believes it was some kind of energy passing through in that moment. He doesn’t think it was malicious at all. Just something we weren’t able to understand. I think I have to agree with him!

Experience My nurse friend told me about a patient who took sleeping pills at the exact same time every night

1.2k Upvotes

My nurse friend told me this story once, and it still creeps me out.I asked her, “What’s the scariest thing a patient has ever told you?”

She told me about a patient who asked for sleeping pills at exactly the same time every day.One day, she finally asked him why he always wanted them at that specific time, especially before it got dark.He told her:“If I take the pills too early, I'll wake up in the middle of the night, and then he’ll be watching me through the window. If I take them too late, I won’t be able to sleep because he’ll come back. So I take them at this exact time because it’s the only way I can stay safe from him.”My friend asked him, “Who?”

The patient pointed toward the window and said:

“A burned man who stares at me through the window."She told me he was completely serious when he said it.I still wonder what he thought he was seeing.

Experience My dad crawled out from under my bed

2.2k Upvotes

I was around 6 when it happened. My parents had tucked me in for bed. I live in the rural countryside so nighttime is very quiet, no sounds of cars. It’s usually very peaceful. I was laying on my back when suddenly I heard the sound of long nails scratching the wood under my bed.

The reason this incident sticks out to me is because I can still remember the feeling of my heart dropping out my stomach and feeling paralyzed with fear.

I was about to call out for my parents when my dad crawled out from under my bed and stood up in the dark looking at me. He said “you forgot to say your prayers” then walked out of my room. I was understandably shocked. I did not leave my bed afterwards and must have fallen asleep at some point.

My dad would normally tell me to say my prayers before bed so this seemed like something he would say but I have no idea what would possess him to hide under my bed. My dad denies ever doing this. I brought it up numerous times over the years but he has never admitted to doing it. I never really considered until recently that he definitely doesn’t have nails long enough to make the deep scratching sound I heard.

What do you guys think? Maybe I fell asleep and had a vivid dream. I also considered it could be something paranormal.

edit: thank you all for your input/stories they were very creepy themselves.

To answer a few questions I saw frequently. No i can’t remember if I asked my parents about the incident the next morning but since then I have asked repeatedly over the last 20 ish years and my dad has never owned up to it. I believe at this point that my dad couldn’t have done it because:

1.my dad likes scary stuff & would absolutely take credit for a “prank” that scared me so bad. 2. My parents had been gone from my room for probably about 10min before I heard the scratching. Its possible my dad could have stayed behind but he could not easily fit under my bed without me noticing 3. he’s not really a drinker so i doubt he was passed out on the floor

Id like to believe it was sleep paralysis like many of you theorized however that would be my one and only time experiencing sleep paralysis. There’s definitely a chance it could’ve been something more sinister and it’s something I hope to never encounter again

Experience Advice: I lost time and don't know what to do next

Post image

I know that everyone has had their fair share of weird experiences. I'm not panicking here, I just wanted thoughts and advice. I don't think I'm the chosen one or that I was abducted or some shit, just mildly concerned and interested. That said...

I lost time last Monday.

In the image you can see I messaged my mom telling her I was at Walmart waiting for her grocery pickup at 9 minutes past 4. I know I didn't wait more than 3 minutes because I was listening to the same song when the guy came out

She lives about 10 minutes from there, and I drove straight there with minimal traffic, never stopped or stuck or anything.

When I arrived at their house, my parents were worried and asked if I was okay. I was confused, said "yeah, why?" they said "we expected you here sooner" and I of course said "well I texted before I left Walmart," thinking that would be the 'aha' moment, with them of course seeing I had texted them fifteen minutes ago and saying "oh, duh that's right" and we'd move on to making soup.

Instead, Dad said "yeah that was like an hour ago." Still thinking I'd price him wrong,I checked my watch. To my surprise, it was 4:57. I was surprised, figured I must've left Walmart later than I expected, so I checked our texts and saw the time stamp.

Somehow, I left Walmart at 10 after 4 pm, and then, 47 minutes later I finished my 10 minute drive to their house.

Again, I'm not panicked here, I didn't see little green men or demons or anything. But I don't know what happened.

What would you do? Should I be worried it'll happen again?

Experience My Alexa had an existential crisis unprompted

So the weirdest thing happened with my Alexa…. I asked it to open my sleep app I use before bed and it said “sigh, what’s the point”

It flat out refused my request and then didn’t record it on record saying that. It acknowledges this through the following conversation. This is really weird and freaks me out. Has anyone experienced this before?

Lived in a house that I later found out someone had passed in. While living there many terrifying things happened. Magnets and papers falling off refrigerator. Washer starting by itself on spin cycle, strange letters/numbers on my arms out of nowhere and disappearing and knocks on my bedroom door with nobody on the other side. In the photos of my arm I was wearing long sleeve and out of nowhere felt it burning under my clothing. One night I heard my son playing his guitar and asked him to stop only for him to text me back saying he wasnt even home. Here are a few photos

Experience I used to be skeptical about mediums until this happened

(Using fake names for privacy)

A few years ago I had an experience that honestly still sits in the back of my mind.
I was working at a warehouse and became friends with a newer coworker around my age, let’s call her Kate. Most of the warehouse was older women, so the few of us in our 20s naturally became our own little group. Over time Kate and I got closer and started hanging out outside of work.
One night at her apartment, she asked me if I believed in psychics or the paranormal. I told her I was open minded but skeptical towards mediums and such. She then told me she could prove it to me.
She pulled out tarot cards and asked to hold the bracelet I wore every day. Before starting, she explained that the women in her family supposedly all had different “abilities.” Her grandmother claimed she could see full entities after people passed. Her mother supposedly could touch someone and know how a person died. Kate said her ability was more like sensing things “past the veil.”
At first I honestly thought it sounded ridiculous.
She started doing the reading and told me she sensed someone attached to me, but not in a harmful way. Then she started describing this person:
not blood related,
deeply cared for me,
very maternal energy,
like a grandmother figure.
I didn’t react much because none of it really fit. I never knew my biological grandparents.
Then she suddenly stopped and said:
“It starts with a C… Cecile? Cecilia?”
At that point I started paying attention.
Then she goes:
“I’m getting the last name too… Findley? Cecilia Findley.”
I genuinely froze.
I had never told her, or really anyone, about my first foster family. There was nothing online connecting me to them either. But my foster grandmother’s name was Cecilia Findley, and everyone called her Gran.
Kate then told me that since Gran had passed, she still worried about me and wanted to make sure I was okay.
That hit me hard because Gran was the main reason I stayed in that foster home for 9 years instead of being moved again. She was the only person there who truly cared about me.
To this day, I still don’t know how to explain it.

So I’m curious, have any of you had experiences with mediums/psychics that genuinely made you question things, or do you think there’s always another explanation?

Experience Was woken up exactly 1 hour after I made this comment, informed that my uncle had died.

Made a random passing comment on a reddit post a few days ago about my uncle. Someone said they kept a comb in their pocket and it triggered a memory of my uncle. It was about 2:30am when I made the comment. Directly after making that comment, I decided to look through some old photos of my uncle to show my dad in the morning. I had separated all the photos of my uncle and I, had them laid out on my bed and I fell asleep around 3am while looking through them. I was suddenly awoken 1 hour later, at 4am, my dad crying at my door informing me my uncle had just died at his care facility.

My uncle practically raised me with my dad and auntie before his mental illness got much worse into my teenhood and he had to be moved into a care facility. He was 63 years old and an otherwise healthy man besides his mental illness’. He choked to death on a peanut butter sandwich..yup. That’s how he got to go. Just 3-4 days prior to this I had been watching several videos online of cops saving choking kids with the LifeVac suction tool. I was even on the LifeVac website and read about how every household should have one of those things.

The care facility told us he’d been dead for about 1 hour before they called us, because they had to wait for the sheriffs and coroner to pronounce his death. That would mean I was thinking deeply of him, and looking through photos of us as he died… gives me the heebie jeebies.

Not sure if you could describe this as paranormal, just really intuitive or even coincidental. Just thought it was an interesting story to share. RIP to my uncle Joe.

Experience I feel silly sharing this, but I’ve never been this scared at work. I can’t explain what happened.

I’ve never been a particularly superstitious person, and I’ve never really believed in the paranormal. But something happened during my shift that genuinely scared me, and I still can’t stop thinking about it.
First, some context.
I work at an industrial port facility located inside a remote natural reserve, more than 40 km from the nearest city. The area is mostly forest, streams, and wildlife. It’s an isolated place, especially at night.
I work in the Security Operations Center, monitoring security systems and cameras, overseeing operations involving grain silos, barges, and cargo movements. My office is somewhat isolated from the rest of the facility, next to the infirmary, with a small reception area and a narrow hallway leading to my door.
Because of security concerns, my office has a reinforced oak door with three security locking points. After an incident involving armed intruders last year, security was taken very seriously. Only one designated operator per shift has the key to my office.
I also have access to multiple Axis security cameras connected through the local network. Internet outages don’t affect them, and even a power interruption shouldn’t cause the system to behave the way it did that night. When a camera loses connection, the system reports it as unavailable. The specific error I saw is normally associated with a disconnection from the recording system, which is located right next to me.
I’m used to working around wildlife. Owls, foxes, snakes, and other animals are common in the area, so strange noises outside don’t usually bother me.
However, some of the older employees have told stories about this place for years.
Apparently, the facility was built on land where an old farm once stood. According to accounts I’ve heard, murders took place there during the War of the Triple Alliance, although I haven’t personally researched those historical claims.
The location is known as Puerto Sara, and over the years, employees have reported strange occurrences. Some claim to have seen figures inside the extraction tunnels. There have reportedly been religious services held at the facility on two occasions because employees felt uncomfortable with what was happening like 15 years ago .
There are also stories about the embankment area. One guard allegedly disappeared for about an hour and eventually returned covered in dirt, trembling, and holding his shotgun. He kept repeating that he had seen a goat near a guard post. Another guard reportedly saw a woman who vanished in front of
him(It sounds like a fucking stupidity even for me that I'm telling this, but it's what they told me, it always seemed like a fucking lie to me)
I always listened to these stories, but I never took them particularly seriously.
Now, here’s what happened during my shift.
It was around 3 AM. There was a severe storm outside, and the rain was getting heavier.
The facility is currently undergoing a shutdown for maintenance, so there were only about eight employees working on site that night. I was alone in my office.
While the storm was raging, my backpack suddenly fell over.
Almost immediately afterward, the security system started throwing errors. Most of my cameras went offline, and the lights throughout the shipping area went out as well.
Only a few camera feeds remained operational, including the one pointed toward the exterior of my office.
The hallway outside my door was now completely dark.
Then, I heard the door handle move.
Someone—or something—was trying to open my office door.
I couldn’t see anything through the darkness, and I couldn’t tell who or what was on the other side.
I want to emphasize that this isn’t an ordinary office door. It’s reinforced, has multiple security locking points, and doesn’t simply move around on its own. Given our previous security incident, I’m very aware of how secure it is.
I was already on edge because of the camera failures, but that was the moment I genuinely started to get scared.
Then I began feeling an unusual coldness inside the office. I also had an overwhelming sensation that I was being watched.
I stayed there for approximately five minutes, feeling deeply uncomfortable and waiting for something else to happen.
Then, just as suddenly as it had started, everything returned to normal.
The cold sensation disappeared. The feeling of being watched went away. The cameras came back online.
There was no clear explanation for what had just happened.
Afterward, I spoke with some of the older employees about the incident. They told me more stories about things that had happened around the facility over the years, and some of their accounts seemed strangely consistent with the kind of experience I’d just had.
I’m not claiming that I encountered a ghost or anything supernatural. I know there could be a technical explanation for the camera failures, and the storm could have played a role in some of what happened.
But the timing of everything—the backpack falling, the cameras going offline, the lights going out, the door handle moving, and that overwhelming feeling of being watched—left me deeply unsettled.
What makes this even worse is that this was only the first night of a six-night stretch.
I’ve worked night shifts before. I’m used to being alone, the wildlife, the noises, and the isolation.
But I’ve never felt this uncomfortable at work before.
Has anyone experienced something similar in an isolated workplace, especially somewhere with a history of unexplained incidents? And does anyone have a plausible technical explanation for what happened to my cameras?
Because honestly, I’d really like to find a rational explanation for this.

Pd: I’m out for today , I’m feeling like a shit after this turn, but I want to share this. Cuz is the only place I can talk about this
