I almost bought tickets to a show in may at arrowhead stadium in kansas city. Glad i didnt. They were kind of a "bucket list" live band for me but yeah i dont care anymore. Ill never see a metallica concert and im cool wit it lol.

u/Phantom_Wolf52 17h ago

Because James doesnt wanna do political rants during shows?

4

u/thefoulnakr 23h ago

I’ve seen him a bunch of times. And they were good back in the 90s but fuck these guys now good on you for not going.

2

u/arie700 22h ago

Saw them live about a decade ago. Cool show from a technical perspective, but a lot of their newer shit is very generic by thrash standards.

2

u/JadeDragonMeli 21h ago

Me too. They were a bucket list band for me, they came to Maryland last year and I kinda just didn't want to go. Glad I didn't.

I knew they sold out a long time ago, I just didn't think the band that wrote One, Blackened, and Disposal Heroes would outright abandon the principles that they at one time had. Or maybe they never really did, maybe it was all Cliff.

2

u/Dzov 21h ago

I saw them at Sandstone back in the 80s. People were standing on the seats.

2

u/Owww_My_Ovaries 18h ago

"I would have spent 200 per ticket if they made me feel warm and fuzzy in my echo chamber "

2

u/ledzppln6 17h ago

Can’t imagine 20 years ago deciding on what entertainment venue I’d attend because of politics.

2

u/Alexa_bun 10h ago

stunning AND brave!

3

u/SignificantCrow 23h ago

I saw them in 08 and Hetfield’s voice was already awful by then

2

u/ZoSoTim 22h ago

I saw them not on the 72 Seasons tour but the one before and James actually sounded better than he had for years.

2

u/katamorigirl 22h ago

His voice has always been awful

4

u/Shut_It_Donny 23h ago

Sucks for you.

Imagine needing your entertainment to tell you about politics.

2

u/Xen235 11h ago

"my entertainer needs to validate my political views" so pathetic lmao imagine being so insecure and weak

1

u/Kristoveles 22h ago

That's your typical fox news viewer,  not your typical Metallica fan

2

u/Shut_It_Donny 19h ago

Not disagreeing with you there. People that take advice or form their world view from Joe Rogan or Alex Jones, have some issues.

But I’d say the same thing about Billy Joe Armstrong or Tom Morello. Not equating them in stupidity, but they are all entertainers and performers.

1

u/Chereth_CuteStory11 18h ago

They are public figures, not just performers

2

u/skipdikman 14h ago

Just because they are public figures doesn't mean they know what they are talking about.

1

u/IMplodeMeGrr 12h ago

They are muses and jesters, nothing more.

0

u/Kristoveles 17h ago

But are people taking their views from Armstrong and Morello, or are they glad to support people that aren't douchebags?

2

u/Shut_It_Donny 11h ago

You think those guys aren’t douchebags? lol

0

u/mmametalguy 23h ago

Thats not exactly what made me not wanna buy tickets but right on man!

-2

u/beckbristow32 23h ago

They are the same people that go to their mechanic to get their prostate checked.

3

u/no_kids-and-3_money 22h ago

Music has always been connected to current events and politics. Wiping music clean of anything controversial or connection to real life is why we have the dumbest, blandest and most boring music of all time.

I’d rather hear a musician passionate about something I disagree with than generic music that sounds like a 5th grader using Mad Libs and between songs asking how Omaha’s doing tonight.

1

u/Far-Replacement-9196 15h ago

Aphex Twin? Apocalyptica? Hans Zimmer? Thousands of other compositors and bands that doesn't care about anything rather music?

Why would I? It’s accurate.

Still time to delete both of these dumbass comments . Hurry!

If this tiny thing is enough for you to crash out like that, you need help

0

u/TrandaBear 21h ago

"Crash out" says the drama queen. Not doing something is the easiest, low effort task ever.

2

u/bodybuilderguitarer 21h ago

I’ve stopped going to classic rock shows after seeing zz top. Every classic rock show I’ve been to recently they’ve been disappointing and I was only going for bucket list too. The first time I saw AC/DC in 09 they were insane, the last time they were good. That sucked to see.

2

u/Loggersalienplants 17h ago

C'mon bro don't let the opinions of a 60 year old white dude decide on your bucket list items. Thats YOUR life and you are letting it be warped by the internet. You could go to a Metallica concert sometime, enjoy the music, knock an item off your bucket list. Or you can just be with this miserable group of people on the internet. Don't let the echo chambers on the internet decide your life! Go enjoy yourself homie, go see something you've always wanted to.

1

u/DarkPrincessEcsy 17h ago

It's called having a consistent moral structure with deeply held ideals. If a guy touched kids, I wouldn't go out and vote for him just because I liked a show he did. As an example

2

u/SigmaMaleNurgling 16h ago

You’re comparing someone wanting to keep politics out of their concerts to a pedo touching kids?

1

u/DarkPrincessEcsy 11h ago

I'm comparing not supporting someone based upon a conflict between my morals and my interests, to not supporting someone based upon a conflict between my morals and my interests.

The two can be compared. One is more extreme. Also, in my experience, the people who respond to people choosing morals over interest with "come on, don't let your MORALS stop you from enjoying something" are the kind of people who voted for Trump.

The pedophile in comparison was Trump BTW if you aren't aware.

My point is that you might not fuck with politics, but politics will fuck with you, and I will never fault someone for making a decision that is consistent with their morals regardless of what level of extreme it is applied to.

0

u/bluh67 14h ago

"when someone is neutral, then he doesn't pick my side of my beliefsystem, therefore i hate them". This is your reasoning

Comparing this to a pedophile shows how deranged you are

1

u/DarkPrincessEcsy 11h ago

Neutrality on politics is brain dead, politics literally shape the quality of your life and the lives of those around you. Care a little more.

1

u/bluh67 10h ago

The problem with politics is that both left and right only care about their positions and wallets. It's the elite vs the poor and middle class. Always has been. Why does is always have to be far left or far right? You can also just have common sense...

And no in my country extreme left or right never gets in power. We have a wide variety of politic views without the extremes. But nothing changes, doesn't matter which party is in power. They make a lot of promises prior to election, and once they get chosen, nothing changes. The only change i see, is the fact that everything gets more expensive, and that we need to pay more taxes. While the filty rich politicians travel and live in luxury. Wake up

1

u/DarkPrincessEcsy 10h ago

"Kamala would have been worse than Trump" ass take right here.

I am neither far left or far right in my political views, really. I'm left of center. American politics are just so far right that we can't have a proper left without it being labeled that way.

Also, I love that the extremes never get power where you live, but I don't have that luxury.

I agree that politics are more about the elite versus the common folk, but you can look at Trump and any of his possible political opponents and easily see how each will effect that divide, and the right is definitely fa r worse.

We shouldn't care about a party taking a dive into dipshittery just because the other side is there to soak water at the steps? Equality amongst classes is a subjective goal, but one of the parties is objectively better for not worsening our chances of reaching that goal

1

u/bluh67 10h ago

Oh i'm sure kamala would be better. No doubt about it. Nobody can do worse than trump

1

u/bluh67 10h ago

I'm center too. I'm not a racist, but i do acknowledge we have an illegal migrant problem. Our country and other countries in Europe are getting too crowded because of them. Do you understand what i mean with this? It's neither left or right. Not racist, but i do realise there is a problem. Has nothing to do with racism. Now if i make claims like this, people tell me i'm racist. Bullshit.

Center is what i mean with apolitical

1

u/bluh67 10h ago

At this point anybody would be better in power than trump. He set the bar as low as it gets znd i feel sorry for the US citizens, and even more for the people who still vote for this guy, because they are clueless what's going on

0

u/Southern_Turns 13h ago

This is such a reddit take lmaoo. Go touch grass lady.

1

u/DarkPrincessEcsy 11h ago

This is such an uneducated response lmaoo, go touch a textbook my guy

I can attack people's opinions with insults, too.

1

u/Ok_Helicopter3910 21h ago

Im sure theyll wipe their tears with stacks of cash.

Honestly, I still refuse to buy a Gillette product based on their dumbass ad campaign years ago when the MeToo bullshit started. Gillette will never get another dollar from me and im sure they care about that about as much as metallica cares about you

1

u/JustHappyToBe-Here 20h ago

Wait, are you actually admitting you boycotted a company because they made an ad campaign supporting victims of rape and sexual abuse?

Wow, what special kind of asshole you are.

-1

u/Plus-Concentrate-401 23h ago

I saw them almost 20 years ago, they were awesome. They’re a band that make music for entertainment, let them do that. They’re not gonna miss you bro

2

u/Philosiphizor 22h ago

Yeah. I saw them with Godsmack along time ago. Was the best concert.

3

u/mmametalguy 23h ago

Meh.......its too late to change my mind anyway lol they sold that shit out

-2

u/_togepi96 22h ago

And literally no one on planet earth will ever give a shit.

2

u/Old_Protection_8778 22h ago

You seem to be giving enough shit for all of us

1

u/According-Insect-992 Just Chill 😎 22h ago

Oh, those d-bags will care if people stop buying their tickets.

3

u/Slim_ish 21h ago

They actually won’t. Their fame has already come and money made.

1

u/Pm-me-ur-ponytail 20h ago

That’s an interesting take that the foundation of capitalism doesn’t matter.

1

u/HawgChuggins 21h ago

We do these things not because they care, or even because you care, we know you don't. We do it because we care. Just because you're willing to compromise your gossamer thin values and morals doesn't mean we will.

3

u/Ill-Description3096 21h ago

People say this while supporting sweatshops with their wallets constantly.

1

u/Massive-Lime7193 20h ago

Unfortunately there is no ethical consumption under capitalism. You do what you can when you can

1

u/Rich_Squirrel4819 20h ago

How many people in hear support fast fashion and don't realize it 😑 it's easy to point at some thing, then another thing and find criticism

Big wow....you human...other human have different opinion...reddit brain...rage rage hate rage no likey human who no agree

Big wow

1

u/Rizzomorph666 16h ago

"We should improve our society somehow..."

"And yet you are participating in the society you are criticising. Curious, is t it?"

You must be very smart.

1

u/Ill-Description3096 14h ago

Criticizing someone for doing something while not blinking at doing worse personally over and over is a bit curious to me, yes.

1

u/Rizzomorph666 14h ago

Sure broski. No one is allowed to have an opinion or moral judgement until they live naked on a tree and eat only fruits and leaves. What an insanely powerful argument.

1

u/Ill-Description3096 10h ago

People can do whatever they want.

-2

u/24dupo24 23h ago

The nerve of them to want to just play music.

2

u/fenderputty 22h ago

That’s not really how fame works, or has ever worked.

-1

u/Formus 23h ago

lol what a loser

0

u/Consistent_Meat6028 21h ago

Yeah-and they’ll do just fine without you there. I hear Macklemore, Madonna, and this Kasey Musgrave lady have plenty of seats open at their concerts.

0

u/MetalEnthusiast83 19h ago

SO if they gave some preformative bullshit speech like a million other bands do, you'd still like them?

This shit is hilarious.

-6

u/Grouchy_Guide7496 23h ago

That’s pathetic

-2

u/Downtown-Creme-9840 22h ago

I sure they can go on without your support.

-3

u/TheBigChungaBunga 22h ago

You hurt the so bad

2

u/SimpSet 22h ago

Imagine making fun of people for having principles

1

u/TheBigChungaBunga 21h ago

Like you're doing 24/7. How many conservatives you cus out on reddit today? Miss me with your moral high round Pal
