This is a Public Announcement regarding r/Roms: Community Rules, Results from Breaking Our Community Rules and Posting Requirements.

Listed below are some major changes for this subreddit.

Community Rules

01. Toxic Behavior

Please be respectful towards all fellow community members. Do not do the following or you may face a temporary or permanent ban from this subreddit: Do not attack a community member through any means. Post, Comments, Direct Messages, Doxxing or Trolling. If you feel you're being attacked from another fellow member of this community please submit screenshots of your conversation with said member('s). We will do our best to investigate the situation.

Spam

No promotion, spam, or advertising of any kind is allowed here. Unless given approval by u/SuperBio to do so, all posts or comments of this nature will be removed from this community.

Note: If you receive approval from u/SuperBio to promote anything in this community, the first line of the body of the post must say, "Moderator Approved" and then on the third line, go into detail about what you're promoting.

Public Announcement PSA: ROMs on Internet Archive

Edit: Has of Oct 03, 2026 I have stopped my uploading process. This is due to me moving. I will update you guys when my computer is up and running and I am uploading again. Sorry.

I have begun uploading No-Intro sets to my Internet Archive; ChaosRenegade22 account. All sets will be in 7z format. Links to my sets include a compression tool, which you should be able to download to your computer and extract the files to your device. You might need to find a compression tool on your phone to extract 7z files.

My main goal is to upload all sets from my collection, including No-Intro, Non-Game, Non-Redump, Redump BIOS, Redump Custom, Source Code, and Unofficial.

I want to note that for all No-Intro sets, every second week of the month, I will grab updated files for the sets and push an update to my sets uploaded on the Internet Archive.

u/Superbio Internet Archive; Superbio account is uploading sets as well, Redump sets, but they are directly from Myriets collection and won't be as up-to-date as my sets will be once I begin uploading Redump sets, but at least you will have two sources to grab from on the Internet Archive.

Question Can't open Sonic CD .cue file

I'm new to CD roms, entirely. Prior to a few days ago I had no experience in the area, but I also got interested in playing Sonic CD and now nothing I do seems to work.

I've tried downloading different roms from different websites, but ultimately, the same thing happens: I can't mount the cue file, whatever tool i'm using (looks sort of like 3 discs, says "pick drive number and mount" when right clicking on .cue files) just always says "Unknown or corrupt image file" no matter what it is, game, sample or anything.

If anyone has any information on this, I'd be very happy to hear it. At this point, I'd be happy to be able to open ANY cd roms, not just games.

Japanese rom of Pokemon Emerald?

Hey folks. I've had some trouble tracking down a Japanese version of the Pokemon Emerald ROM. First I tried compiling from the decomp but apparently the decomp is not complete, so it requires a copy of the original in order to compile. I stumbled across this community and am hoping someone might be able to help me? I checked the megathread and each site linked in the About page, but have only been able to find US and European versions of Pokemon Emerald. I searched Internet Archive as well but mostly got romhacks. Lemme know if you can help me out 🙏

Question Is it safe to play a ROM that, when decompressed, throws an error saying "uncompressed file with errors: file too large"?

Good afternoon, recently when trying to extract a copy of one of my games, I wondered about the title issue. With the first copy, when extracting it to an SD card not formatted as exFAT, I managed to decompress it, Luckily, the game started and I didn't see practically any errors or anything; the save file was intact and even though I only played for 10 minutes everything looked perfect. Could there be consequences to doing this?

Completely new to retro gaming — need help preparing my Retroid Pocket Nova using a MacBook

Hey everyone, I just ordered a Retroid Pocket Nova and I’m pretty much completely new to retro gaming and emulation.
I’m getting into it because I have a lot of downtime at work, and I figured I might as well spend some of that time playing older games instead of just sitting there scrolling on my phone.
I use a MacBook, not Windows, and I ordered a 512GB microSD card for the Nova. While I’m waiting for everything to arrive, I want to start preparing my games and folders on my Mac so I’m ready when the Nova gets here.
I’m mainly interested in PS2, PSP, GameCube and other retro systems. I especially want to play a bunch of Sonic games, God of War, and other games from those generations.
The biggest thing confusing me right now is actually getting the games. I’m not asking anyone to post direct ROM links. I just don’t know what I’m supposed to be searching for on Google or what resources people normally use. Even just telling me what terminology I should search would help.
I tried Vimm’s Lair yesterday and managed to download some games, but I’m still not really sure what I’m doing, what other resources I should know about, or whether I’m downloading the right formats.
I’m looking for beginner advice on:
What should I actually search on Google when researching ROM/game resources? I don’t need direct links.
What formats should I use for PS2, PSP and GameCube?
Which emulators should I install on the Nova for each system?
What drivers should I install and where do people normally get them?
Which systems require BIOS files, and how do I set those up?
How should I organize everything into folders on my MacBook before the Nova arrives?
What’s the easiest way to transfer everything from MacBook → 512GB microSD → Nova?
Are there any Mac-specific programs I should get for extracting, converting or organizing games?
Are there any good beginner guides/videos specifically for Mac + Retroid Pocket Nova?
Basically, assume I know almost nothing about retro emulation. I’m trying to learn and prepare everything now so when my Nova arrives, I can set up my 512GB card and start playing without spending another week figuring everything out.
Any advice you wish you knew when you first started would be appreciated. Thanks!

Request Trying to find Bloodborne 1.09

I've found an android recomp of bloodborne (ps4) that's meant to work on an AYN Thor, but it needs the game file already merged with the 1.09 update, and I haven't been able to find a link to it anywhere that actually works for me. If anyone could direct me to one, that would be really great. Preferably USA but EU would work, also, I guess. Please and thank you.

Question Can't get Rayman 2 (*N64) to work on my Retroid 6.

Hey everyone,

Happy owner of my first emulation device, the Retroid Pocket 6. Downloaded some roms/emulators (thanks to Gamecorps) and got on my way. Played a few N64 games and they run perfectly. Now comes Rayman 2.

I use Mupen64Next (within Retroarch) and when I boot up the game, it runs too fast. The expansion pack is turning quickly, the butterfly in the menu flaps way too quick and I have zero text in the main menu.

I tried both EU/US version of Rayman 2, both have the problem but one is just a bit quicker (obviously). I tried Mupen64 FZ (standalone) and that has the same problem.
How can i fix this?

Request Looking for an obscure Xbox 360 dlc (not found on Internet archive or mega thread)

I recently have gotten into green lantern because of the new show, and wanted to play the game on my 360 Xbox. I saw that there was a comic accurate skin available on an old thread, but can't seem to find the dlc files anywhere. I found the ps3 version of it, but not the 360 version. I also found the avatar costumes on Internet archive, but not the actual in game one.
