While SNL has a "bye week" repeat show in the US tonight, James Austin Johnson shows up as Trump on SNL UK. Nice cross-Atlantic crossover.

Andy Samberg is on some sort of panel or maybe a game show and he is playing the current 'tool of the year' (IIRC) and thus a sort of b-list celebrity. All his answers are dumb, offensive, and wrong

If you saw the new Lorne Michaels documentary that just hit streaming, you might get this very specific interview "left" on the cutting room floor... for very good reasons.

Shane Gilles is in my top 3. Im a big fan of his Beautiful Dogs Netflix special that’s the funniest shit I’ve seen in a while. also I’m a female, gym goer, minority. my sense of humour isn’t low brow or anything like that either.

I’ve been mulling over his SNL opening and trying to reconcile it and credit to another Redditor whose comment was like a light bulb dinging for me.

Shane Gilles is a smart guy, as we know good comedians need to be. I’m sure of it - his joke was intentional to simultaneously gain the most attention/reach and to push the boundaries of comedian censorship which (where we‘re at now as a society on this topic) he can only do by making an unfunny statement that disparages the largest group possible to achieve maximum outrage.

He‘s gonna use this to his advantage. he’s already got his bits in his head in response to it. he’s playing chess and we’re all playing checkers.

Help settle a debate.. I think this guy looks like an uncanny version of JAJ but my bf believes it is actually him. I kinda see it but someone help me, and identify who this guy is.. he looks taller? Like his face is longer and he just looks differently proportional to JAJ. His eyes, mouth and face shape is very different to me.

This encompasses a host who has had past solid shows inclusive of skits +their cold open.

**To qualify host must have done minimum two shows (doesn’t have to be within a specific span of time)

Example : Tom Hanks

Last time Shane hosted it was the worst episode of the season.

And this one was even worse.

I'm amazed that Lorne asked him back.

This was really bad again!!!

The cast tried but you cant prop up a scumbag!!

I like when Gillis hosts, he's solid and the sketches are always more interesting.

I don't often pay attention to the musical act but tonight's could really sing.

But the big takeaway of this episode for me was... I have no idea who she is... (looks up the cast) Grace Reiter, I think? As the demented hellchild during Weekend Update and the demented chess sports mom in the last sketch of the night.

She had me laughing out loud. She was all-in, and she knocked it out of the park.

Grace Reiter. That gal's goin' places. Eyy, found a picture.
